This is one of the major problems when you rely on one country to make your stuff. Who knew that a country that eats raw bat soup could possibly have health concerns if something goes wrong. Cheap labor is cheap for a reason.

This is one of the reasons why outsourcing/globalization is bad. You're going to inevitably get diseases from unrestricted and unvetted immigration. That's how the Native Americans died off.

This one is gonig to be an appetizer, just wait until a severe disease crops up in the future.

More like this is starting to look like the big one.

400 million people in China are under some form of quarantine right now, that's one third of their population.

The economic damage done to the country is estimated to already be a half trillion dollars and their will literally have no GDP this quarter, just about every job that isn't tech and almost every factory is shut down right now across the entire country.

Why would the CCP crash their economy with no survivors if it wasn't the literal worst case scenario for a contagious disease?

If you don't have masks or respirators, fucking buy them now before they are completely gone.

And not a single fuck was given.

Sadly, what they are going to realize is how little it is going to affect their bottom line. They will reopen in a couple months only long enough to clean up the place so that it can be liquidated.

Console and PC gaming are not going to be around as the major industry they once were. Apps for tablets and mobiles is where the gaming money is increasingly going, anons. Cheaper investment for the same return, plus massive data collection.

It is a no-brainer for them.

Maybe we'll actually start bringing some manufacturing jobs back over to the US and not do so much business with the bugs now. Then those poor corporations would have to actually pay workers and have reasonable working conditions though, so that's probably unlikely. I'm sure they'll just find some other slave labor if this goes on too long.

I just want to dump some numbers. Obviously from my other posts I'm celebrating the collapse of their economy regardless of how bad the plague really is.

In the 2018-2019 season, 35.5 million people came down with the flu. 490,600 of them were hospitalized, and 34,200 died from it.

Currently, there are 34,874 confirmed coronavirus cases, 6,106 in "severe" condition, 724 dead, and 2,085 recovered.

Corona is far more lethal than the flu, but that could be heavily skewed by it being primarily in China. The spread is still miniscule right now.

Want to add more fun to that infograph?

China has had crematoriums working 24/7, burning 100 bodies in a DAY: http://archive.ph/FY3It

But, then that really brings in some really fishy numbers. Because, assuming that they have been burning 100 bodies a day, everyday, then that must mean that China must have been containing this situation as far back as September/October using the numbers in the infograph (13,698 bodies burned / 100 a day = 139.68 days; 139.68 days / 30 days in a month = 4.656 months). Or the worker is underestimating how many are bring burned.

How will this affect the recent trend of companies pandering to the new chinese audience? We've seen companies like Ubisoft change their games to fit a more international audience while setting China as the low bar. Perhaps it won't do much for "digital" sales. Perhaps this will make companies think twice about expanding into dog-eating territory. Maybe it's too early to see how the virus will disturb international trading. But knowing everything has a "made in china" engraving, I'm willing to bed it's going to damage various sectors in first world countries.

Funny you should mention Hong Kong, shortly before the plague happens, there were reports of protestors coming down with a mysterious lung condition that was officially attributed to the police's use of tear gas.

It shortly was after November 19th, the day that protesters tried, and ultimately failed, to escape the university that was under siege via the sewers. I know it was shortly after as my first thoughts when I read the headline was that it was probably the result of the attempted escapees breathing in sewer germs.

Having trouble finding it now though. I guess I could go through my phone history and see if its still in there.

By the way, I don't expect this to be anywhere near as deadly as the Ebola or H1N1 (this shit right here, holy fuck, it'll fuck your shit right up) outbreaks, but it'll probably be bad enough that several countries will have complete travel bans to China for months. >H1N1 wasn't so bad

The 1918 H1N1 strain aka Spanish Flu infected a half billion people in just about every country in the world and directly caused an estimated 100 million deaths.

World population around that time was just under 2 billion.

If you can't do math, one out of four people got sick and one out of five infected died.

Germ Theory is just a theory. If it were a fact, they would call it the GERM FACT of disease. We wouldn't have these kinds of events if people would just eat organic free-range foods, stop loading their bodies up with poisons from the Pharmaceutical companies, and would get their chakras in order with a nice chai tea enema twice a week.

Some guy on Leddit is almost perfectly predicting the claimed number of cases and deaths by using a quadratic growth model.

Here's his post, he made it on the 5th.

>If I'm right, this near perfect "Chinese Propaganda" quadratic model will provide the world press and the WHO with the following numbers over the next few days:

> 05/02/2020 23435 cases 489 fatalities

> 06/02/2020 26885 cases 561 fatalities

> 07/02/2020 30576 cases 639 fatalities

> 08/02/2020 34506 cases 721 fatalities

> 09/02/2020 38675 cases 808 fatalities

> 10/02/2020 43084 cases 900 fatalities

> 11/02/2020 47733 cases 997 fatalities

>Quite sad, considering all the commendations for transparency bestowed upon China by the WHO!

Today is the tenth. Are his predicted numbers anywhere near accurate? How are government and independent health organizations outside of China modeling the spread and how have they modeled the spread of similar epidemics in the past? The newest studies claim that incubation can last 4 to 24 days and asymptomatic transmission starts sometime between halfway to the later third of incubation.

Another worrying possibility some experts are talking about is that infected may even test negative for the virus up to first several days of incubation and this is based on a few cases seen so far.

Viral load is, I would bet, probably not a good indicator of whether or not somebody is contagious when it's an unknown virus like this being considered. I'm no epidemiologist, but if you require X number of viruses in your body before you have a significant chance of expelling the Y number needed to infect another person, and if your discrimination threshold for your test is above X, then I think it's perfectly reasonable that folks with negative test results could be infectious.

The death numbers in other nations is so low because first-world nations actually know how to hold a quarantine and curb the rate of infection.

China is trying hard to quarantine as well, but their quarantines are way too broad and not strict enough. People are self-quarantining, that's why the streets are empty.

They do when it's highly contagious and they don't have the resources to deal with it. The reason why the official reported numbers are so low is because China can only produce a few thousand test kits a day. They're quarantining cities because they have no good way of diagnosing all the cases efficiently. Considering that their production of test kits is so shit.

I imagine a similar reason is why so many Chinese people are dying of it. China is always under-prepared for anything that isn't war or iPhone production. They probably don't have enough resources for treating pneumonia because that's what communism does; starves a country of resources.

Yes. China only readies itself enough to deter enemies, so far. They have less nukes than even France (200 something), which should tell you enough about their overall strategy. And they only have two aircraft carriers (compared to the US with 20 something, and practically global sea power with a variety of other ships).

Their strategy for gaining dominance is all underhanded. Mostly economic and trade warfare, persuading individual corrupt politicians in Western countries to sell their countries out, and very little research or creativity of their own. They're more known for espionage and theft.

In all of these senses, they are fighting a war NOW, as we speak. But this idea of a future military based war doesn't seem to be on the table yet.

This mentality reminds me of the extreme bullshit in the martial arts world too. There's one guy currently there that's disrupted their whole society. He's an MMA styled fighter who dismissed a lot of the ancient and mystical martial arts as bullshit (Bruce Lee was known for this as well, years ago). All kinds of practitioners of the "ancient arts" have challenged him - and he keeps kicking their asses - even on live TV. Yet they still keep coming at him.

These mystical beliefs are that deeply ingrained. Much like this crap with eating mice.

I don't know scientifically, but crayfish and lobster look almost identical apart from the size difference. The only disgusting part is people who eat the (interior of) the head/body.

Nice thing about crustaceans , particularly, shrimp, crab, crayfish and lobster, is that you can clean off the shells and most of the organ parts and what you are left with is almost pure muscle. I won't eat mollusks (clams, oysters, muscles, scallops, snails) personally because it's all mixed organ meat.

Scallops are all muscle except for the roe sac. When you open them you get rid of everything except for the muscle that holds the shell shut.

Crustaceans are basically objectively better to eat than insects in that as you said they have big chunks of muscle with no organs. Insects carry a shit ton of parasites and bacteria and you pretty much have to eat them whole.

Well, why are rich people backing this shit up? It'll never work. Dude, learn economy. The true purpose of "tax the rich" meme is so the rich people don't get new competitions. New competitions means more work for older rich peoples especially who can't adapt with today's internet. That's why many rich people hate the internet and backing censor policies for leftwing parties. People today are making big bucks by sitting on their asses, streaming, gaming, selling and more.

This. The entrenched ultra-massive multinational corporations would be more than happy to be taxed for 99% of their profits if it means that they will never ever have to adapt or change their business strategy. Nobody except the established players can survive in a market like that, and they'll gladly accept that cost if it means they can sit back and rake in the cash and collect their bonuses without having to do any work. Not that the rich ever get taxed at all - they can afford the pricey accountants that magic their money away into some loophole. Only the middle class pays taxes, ensuring that they will never be able to amass enough capital to challenge the elite.

The sea "bugs" like crabs and shrimp have more meat to them, and generally don't carry much disease. Crabs are carnivorous, shrimp are omnivores and eat very small bits of organic matter, plenty is present since the sea is full of life.

Bugs on the ground literally eat shit. They're scavengers if not predators and the food they get is generally in the shit range due to comparitive scarcity. Sea "bugs" filter feed for plankton, land bugs search for shit to eat, which includes feces.

The worst that the sea animals have to worry about is us polluting it, since some fish and such can become tainted with mercury or other poisons. Eating bugs is a great way to catch diseases.

The Daily Mail is a clickbait rag so don't pay attention to anything they say.

Regardless of Dawkin's weird cannibalism thing, cultured meat seriously interests me. I've been following it for a few years.

The main guys behind all of it, Mosa Meat, have some interesting arguments to make. It's significantly less resource intensive, can be modified for any preference, they can have vitamins added or removed and can it even be crossed with other animals. You could technically made a meat/plant hybrid if you wanted. They're planning to put it on the market next year.

They tend not to talk about the moral aspect of not having to kill an animal as much as you'd think. It's more of a "cows are horribly inefficient meat machines" economic kind of thing.

The process isn't as weird and fucked up as you might think. Basically, they take tissue and fat cells from a living animal and give those cells the nutrients to grow. By doing this, you can completely remove the animal's other biological processes and focus all the energy on just producing more meat. I believe it's something like 97% more efficient.

Obvious question is if changing the animal is easy, why bother with beef? Surely offering something more exotic (like venison or even seal) would carve a substantial niche before trying to replace establish industry and avoid claims of contaminating the meat supply.

Venison is game meat, the texture and toughness comes from their lifestyle. Seals are pretty bland and the inuit only eat them because its the only reliable source of meat outside fish. Actually now that I think about it, since seals breed like rabbits if they're not being hunted by inuit anymore it would completely collapse the local ecosystem because there isn't any other predators that eats them at the same volume.

I hate this broken piece of shit site.

The biggest problem is texture.

The texture is more like minced meat than muscle. The cells grow more or less like cancer; randomly in all directions.

There are certainly ways of growing cells into a muscle-like matrix, but that's quite expensive and it's currently mostly being developed for growing organs.

Marxism is a guidelines for a political strategy, to assert yourself into a position of near or total political authority with the least means of resistance, and one of it's founding principles is that the general populace is underdeveloped compared to someone looking to be dear leader.

It also asserts itself as being instrumental in being able to instill the idea in a given populace that any sort of political opposition strictly exists in a polarized scale to make resistance and actually thinking harder.

Shit, this is why neonazis struggle so fucking hard with the concept that Traditionalist America wasn't actually some wonderland where everyone was well off and white except the smelly natives and niggers.

The reality is far more contentious.

Protip: most animals don't actually eat that well, especially in a context where you're removing the environment completely. For some critters that tend to taste like shit because of what they eat (limiting ourselves to warm-blooded animals, pretty much anything that eats other warm-blooded animals falls under this heading) this can be a positive but most of the animals that humans raise for food and/or go out of their way to eat get a significant portion of their flavor from their diet and that's something missing from cultured meat.

Sir Marxism is the scientific analysis and dismantling of capitalism through materialist criticism, what you describe is dictatorship of the proletariat or something different, at the very least I assume you're trying to, which makes sense, Marx never directly instructed what socialism should be, you can deduce what he wanted it to be but not what it should be, which is why has been co-opted by CIA niggers and >>16843447 jews.

Land and water based environments is apples and oranges. You can taste the quality of water from all marine animals that you eat, bottom feeders included. When cutting a fish you cannot touch the stomach or its contents taints the taste of the meat, you have to be careful with how you prep the fish or the urine in the skin taints the meat with ammonia, etc. With land animals you have to be careful with things like scent glands, what they eat affecting things like the taste of the liver, etc.
