I didn't like W101 and I don't care for established companies resorting to crowdfunding especially given that the results of that so far have been 70/30 in terms of shit/good results. Free idea for businessfags, there should be a platform that functions akin to crowdfunding but for established businesses to measure interest in theoretical products. I'd suggest something along the lines of $1 "bids" (plus a processing fee that is paid for upon bid purchase) that function to give a show of putting your money where your mouth is in exchange for a small discount, let's say $5 or 10%, on the final product if there is a final product. If the company decides that the show of interest was insufficient for its goal at the end of its campaign, it can refund the bids and the would-be backers can allocate them elsewhere as they see fit. Otherwise, the company can keep the bids, convert them into funds to support the project, and arrange to deliver the discount to the backers. If the project starts but unexpectedly must be cancelled or a refund must be made, either have it so that the bidder assumes the risk ala Scamstarter or ban companies believed to be abusing the platform from further efforts on the platform.

That's correct, but people rightly realize that at some level so it inevitably feels scammy, Having a less scammy alternative (lower payouts because it's less about raising funds and more about credibly testing demand) puts pressure on the bigger publishers/established developers to put their products there instead, which also makes people less willing to back obvious scams. It's basically a good way to punish greedy devs/publishers by adding negative PR for when they do use mainstream crowdfunding platforms as well as providing the market demand testing that they claim as the reason why they exploit crowdfunding platforms. Crowdfunding platforms also have the problem of making sales before a product actually exists which makes it hard for publishers to actually know what the sales prospects of a finished game are, so by doing a discount rather than a full discounted pre-order it puts pressure on the developer to fulfill the vision while also providing incentive for sales in the post-launch/pre-holiday sale window that is usually a slump for new releases.

Square might be a publisher and own the rights but everyone including the CEO's like him because he is a great drinking buddy and has a lot of morale influence. As for Viewtiful Joe Capcom and Hideki are on good terms but i suspect Capcom due to its recently good behavior with a practical remaster of Phoenix Wright and a remake of RE1,2 and 3 now is basically doing what the fans want. A lot of people compare it to Pikmin, which isn't exactly correct but it's hard to say that when it looks the way it does. DMC is an apt comparison, but the gameplay is sort of more of an uphill battle than DMC. If you compare just launching an enemy in both games, you'll see what I mean by that. Mouse drawing is fucking shit in these games. It's one of the things that prevent me from playing lazy 3DS ports, specially if you can remove those features or replace them with something that wouldn't require a touchscreen.
It's also one of the things that prevents me from emulating DS games, BUT some rom hacks actually fix those things, like Castlevania DoW.

The entire game is based around drawing specific shapes to change formation, and the larger you draw the shape the stronger the formation is, with some of the strongest ones being more complex shapes. You don't actually want Wonderful 101, you want some casualized bastard version of it. One of the key features is drawing around certain enemies to temporarily add them as heroes for your cause even.

In fact Monolith is mostly known for "Backup and world design support" for Nintendo's other open world games, yet they're fully equipped for multi game development and big enough to split into up to 3 teams. While Retro is still forced to be small and taking in major talent as much as it's bleeding it.
And that's not even getting into Nintendo's other two western studios. Its actually the cheapest wii u port on the switch. One of the cheaper remasters in general.
BotW and mario kart 8 were both 60 bucks.
Final fantasy X and XII, chocobo dungeon, and bayonetta 1 and 2 were all 59 bucks.
Okami and onimusha are probably two of the only remasters that outright beat it because they're 20 bucks instead.
I'd say Devil May Cry too, but capcom did some extra jewry with those and released all three games that are basic bitch ports of the HD collection for 20 bucks a pop. Though they did add style switching to 3 but really, who cares. It's not worth 20 fucking bucks again.
Blame nintendo for jacking up the process of their cartridges.

Under that reasoning, literally everything a corporation ever spends money on is tax deductible. Business expense tax deductions are reserved for small businesses and only cover expenses that are both ordinary and necessary. I doubt even if Nintendo qualified for business expense related tax deductions that a clandestine campaign to finance a game they don't want to pay as much for publishing by going through Kickstarter would satisfy either an ordinary business expense or a necessary one let alone both.

In the US, donations are only deductible for 501(c)(3) and 501(c)(4) non-profit organizations, which Kickstarter is not. Although you are donating money, it is to a for-profit corporation in exchange for an eventual product. I assume Japan has a similar distinction.
