The most annoying thing is that Ron isn't replying to emails besides a ton of boards already being on the list. What Ron really should do is set a deadline for the end of phase 1 migration, allow people to do phase 2 claims in the meantime and just put them in a separate collumn in his excel sheet, then hand the board over to the original owner if they show up before the deadline and the first claimant if they don't, and only delete the ones with no response at all. But that'd make sense, so we can't have that.

Malicious JS can be used to get the bare IP of someone using Tor, and possibly even VPN's. The fix for not being able to post without JS has been known for over a month now with not a single word on it from Ron. It is overtly clear that it was intentional. Either way it's a massive security flaw and virtually every single other imageboard, even god awful lynx, was designed with a no JS users experience in mind. Not only is not possible to post here without JS, the software itself is also closed source so there's not even any way to vet if the JS is malicious or not. This entire sight is fucking radioactive with how many redflags it has.

I've seen this with zeronet and normal browsers. I don't know why that is possible but I suspect that modern browsers acquire the IP of the host they are running on on their own (when they start up maybe periodically), and that can be read via JavaScript. When using a VPN it was showing the VPNs IP though, and that exploit (or whatever you wanna call it, probably nobody has even thought of that as a security flaw yet inside normal browsers) never worked inside TOR browser. The question is what kind of security flaws are available in the first place - which ones that just use JavaScript like the zeronet whatismyip site, and which ones that use JavaScript to trigger more esorteric flaws, like the Intel bug that was basically patched by not allowing browsers precise time measurement anymore.

You can always reverse engineer the JavaScript part though, it's client side. The main.js doesn't even seem to be minfied or obfuscated. You'd simply have to be willing to do it. Like the Zeronet IP thing that returns the non-TOR IP - damn I'd be really interested how that works but I already had my fill of JavaScript at work and I'd rather get drunk right now. You just can't tell what the server side code is. And maybe even that is possible, I wouldn't be too suprised if 8chan had some security flaw that allows you to get the php file instead of the html it is supposed to render.

Nobody knows who anybody is, that's the nature of an anonymous board and ultimately always what you have to work. Either the way it is moderated works for you or it doesn't, but when it comes to allowing for free spech on political topics it gets the job done. For some users that will never be enough because they want a board catering to the particular ideology the believe in so they can discuss within that ideology without disturbance, but that's not really what a /pol/ or /pnd/ is aiming to be anyway. I guess that's why there are also more specialized boards like /fascist/, /liberty/ and /leftypol/ that were made and may or may not return from their bunkers at some point.
