How come we hardly get video games where the main character is morally bad? And if we do get a character who has done something fucked up there's always a contrivance around it almost making it justifiable. Take James for example. He killed Mary only because he hated seeing her sick and wanted to put her out of her misery. Him going through Silent Hill was "redeeming" himself. In the end you can say he DID something morally bad but no one would really call him an evil person.
Or in the GTA games. Sure you as the player can go on killing sprees, but that's not canon to the story. At worst you kill people who have done equally bad things, or you rob banks and sell drugs.
I know a lot of game developers are cucked pussies or just don't know how to write these characters, or both. Why is it that movies and books are willing to cross this line? See American Psycho. Have we ever had a video game where you play as a character as fucked up as Patrick Bateman?

Sure people don't like evil in real life but seeing it from a different perspective in a fictional story would be a nice change. The closest thing we get to this in video game stories is the anti-hero trope, where you're good but have either done bad things in the past or still do bad things for the sake of a good thing.

Exactly what was justified, because the story makes no gadamn sense, like all fucking military FPS stories do. In Specops, you and your team are on a recon mission that people, hostiles or not, are alive in the area so that you can evacuate the non hostiles. That's all fine and dandy but the game doesn't let you call your helicopter because the MC is worried about the enemies and their helicopters, who at this point are former US army soldiers who declared martial law on the refugees and grounded everything because of the fucking sandstorms. And from that point on everything just goes tits up shows how fucking incopetent the US military, refugees and CIA areyeah, I know, shock of fucking shocks only to hit the player on the face with a stupid message as if it's a teen that has read Heart of fucking Darkness and then saw Apocalypse Now and think they are cool and wise.

The setting is that initially you go to apprehend them because they deserted the army and instead went back to the cities to help the friendlies and citizens but due to the sandstorms, they couldn't leave and were trapped for weeks so they declared martial law because sandniggers gonna sandnigger without someone waving guns at them.
So the government sends a special swua for recon while absconing themselves from any responsibility and acussing the deserters of various crimes they may or may not have commited but they wouldn't know because of the fucking sandstorms.

The story is pretty straightforward. You go to Dubai to check the status of an army stationed there. The reason why they refuse to deploy more was because of sandstorms and the lack of intel. Later in the game, the CIA dude refuses to report it in fear of causing a PR disaster. It wouldn't look good for the US if it was revealed that their troops killed civilians and agents trained terrorists to attack them.
You're right about it being a basic bitch anti-war story, but it's remembered because it was the first game to tackle those themes.

You just went to my first point without realizing that's retard bait and completely failing to see the entire context of the game.
You wind up in Dubai, alive, only for the main character to hear and see his own personal demon Conrad everywhere even though your squadmates can't. You're already having a PTSD episode but it gets worse when he ends up dying and awakening in his own personal hell. Right after the helicopter crash you wake up to fire and brimstone, good ol' Hell where you get approached and scolded by Conrad your demon himself.
The rest of the game past that point is you as the player basically experiencing Walker's atrocities he's committed and his suffering through it all. Everything that could and possibly can go wrong for him does so.
Even in the multiple endings of the game, the "Good" ending is the only one that's not real. It doesn't fade to a black screen like the 3 other remaining endings but to white, just like after the helicopter gameplay section. If you choose that ending, Walker is blatantly asked "How'd you even manage to survive in Dubai?" At which point he replies "Who says I did?"
Out of the other 2 endings, Walker remains stuck in his own hell, either by being ridiculed by Conrad or actually becoming Conrad himself. The only ending that makes any sense is suicide. Walker, and to an extent the player, should finally realize the only way to leave Dubai is to come to terms that you never were a hero or playing the hero, but the soul of a man who essentially couldn't come to terms with what he's done in his own life.

I only watched a few episodes from season 1 and 2, it seemed decent, but never really cared about it. I don't have an infograph, but in OoT game map looks like Germany. You are blond hair blue eyed man fighting a red headed desert man with a giant nose who's main purpose in life is corrupting things and is obsessed with powers. I think there was even a bit about how shoes are the most effective way to insult someone in Islam, and there are tons of bits in the game where you walk over that Islamic crescent symbol. A lot of old tropes, games, and things do this. I suspect it's partially due to really old stories passed down which where originally anti-semetic (Vampires for example), done unintentionally or subconsciously, and a very small chance some of them are genuine.

The writers and animators also are clearly trying to make him be completely unstoppable and perfect in every single way. At least the first ten seconds try to make it minimally believable with him trying to dodge but even that is pretty boring. From what was shown, it seems that they saw the action as an obstacle that they have to get over with as quickly as possible to get to that quality dialogue.

Thanks Anon, I'll check it out. Previously looked at other .srt files and the ones I checked all lost sync at different times. The issue was most likely that they might have been using the same original badly timed file and that they might have tried to fix it by correcting it based on the amount of offset to the whole thing that was necessary to fix the particular set in time that they used for reference.
