Can't think of a single game that takes place in British Columbia. At best I can pretend a game that takes place in Washington is somewhere on the mainland. It would take lots of effort to replicate the BC wilderness, which is the only reason to use it as a setting.

I find Serious Sam is probably the best representation of complete ancient Egyptian structures, I don't think I've seen many other games actually use the colors for the walls and structures.

Doolin is a real town, but it looks nothing like it does in-game. I don't know why, but the devs made it look like some rural Connemara village

I don't think Wisconsin has any games specifically set in it. I don't think I've ever even heard Wisconsin or Milwaukee be mentioned by name in a video game ever.
It's very bizarre because I can think of a lot of games that are based on all the states surrounding it. Many games take place in Michigan and Illinois (Probably because Chicago and Detroit are easy for crime/gang themed settings). Pretty sure the twin cities in Minnesota was a multiplayer map in some military FPS.
Real shame because the Wisconsin wilderness is lovely and if you do your research, you'll find Wisconsin has a rich history of industry and entrepreneurial spirit.

Liberalism, same reasons as Chicago, Detroit, etc. People become naive when hardship is scarce and good times are rolling. We're not in the Rust Belt, but we might as well be because every area besides the Metro is suffering because of increasingly retarded decisions on behalf of both the federal and state governments. There's become a clear disconnection between Metropolitan areas and outward "rustic" communities. The assholes in the city sit atop their high horses and talk down to us as if we're children while we suffer the brunt of their actions.
Trust me, none of us want this, it's deeply saddening and has caused major morale damage to a lot of the communities affected. Most here feel as if they're being infringed upon or being ignored. And no one listens because "Who cares about the Midwest?"

>The Crew
God, the whole map for The Crew was a caricature, so they kept landmarks, but the whole state of Michigan was fucked up, doesn't even look like a mitten. One of the few games with UP locations, though (if you ever have the chance, visit the UP in the Summer or Fall, it's fantastic for hunting/cycling/hiking)
>NEO Scavenger
Fuck yeah, best game. Everyone jokes about Detroit already looking post-apocalypse, but this is a real version of that.

>SimCity
>Chuck Moss of The Detroit News found that Godzilla attacking the city in the 1972 Detroit scenario caused less destruction than the mayoralty of Coleman Young.
Jesus, they'd never print that nowadays.
Would like to see a game that represents the variety of suburbs Detroit has; everywhere north of 8 Mile is increasingly white and relatively safe. The roads are also unlike other cities, like the Michigan Left (which isn't really used when you're not obeying road laws in games)

Niko is Serb, I know it's not pointed out directly in game but you get that idea. Even if he wasn't one he's still from the Yugoslav part of the Balkans that's for sure.
You have all the info in file names. Slavik is Tiberian Sun - one of the cooler guys in the game, Zoran is Uncharted 2 - should be noted his black uniform and sawed-off shotgun were inspired by the real life criminal who was in special forces and fought in the 90s civil war. Last is Soldier of Fortune and if the stories are true that one is the most retarded when it comes to story and depiction of my country.
I did not mention Rainbow Six: Rogue Spear fourth mission which depicted city in Kosovo like some generic Eastern European ruin. At least the cyrillic graffiti were grammatically correct but they made no sense to me.
Pretty much every depiction was "bad guys" and some nuke gone missing, Russian advisers are involved and all the locals are speaking with Russian accents for some reasons. Everything looks generic without any landmarks or is way too much urbanized or represented way lager than it is irl.

Alan Wake had a close resemblance in parts. Playing a game in Seattle is just as bad as going there. BC is fairly boring city wise for buildings. Northern BC would be a good far cry setting. Toronto would be a good setting for some type of zombie outbreak during the winter. Montreal is briefly displayed in a few games. I once got off a plane in Montreal while connecting flights, just to take shit in Montreal and then leave, for reasons many leafs understand.

Also Michigan: Report from Hell, but it might be better not to talk about that. One very, very obscure reference I know of to Detroit in a videogame comes from Killer7. In "Hand in Killer7," the complementary handbook to the game explaining many elements of the game, there is a timeline featuring several past and future events. Including:
>100 YEARS PASS —–
>[ 2115 ] In Shanghai, the battle between Harman Smith and Kun Lan continues.
>[ 2170 ] The final battle takes place in Detroit. Billions of "Final Smiles" fly to Detroit from the East.
>OVERDRIVE MASK De Smith—the main persona of the Fifth Smith Syndicate—confronts the horde of "Final Smiles."
>[ 2171 ] The chess game between Harman Smith and Kun Lan never ends, fearing HIS apparition . . .

Killer 7 is very stylish, with a fractured, half-2deep4u half-genius plot and straight-up bad gameplay (it's an on-rails 1st person shooter, but you fully control your movement and can hop to different rails). I forgave the gameplay because the game was so different from anything else I'd ever played.
The whole game is like a fever dream, and it takes the right tastes to appreciate it. I'd never recommend it to a normalfag, but it's a cult classic that still prompts discussion to this day. I greatly enjoyed it and would only recommend it if you're down for something very weird and can cope with not-great controls.

Because it works on every site?
I innitially got Stylus, and I use that on some sites with dark themes available.
But I don't want to download a dark theme for every single fucking site I visit. So I got Dark Reader, and it automates the process. Any page I open will turn dark without me doing anything at all. At worst, I gotta turn it off for that site in specific if it was already dark (inverting the colours makes it bright again) and it will remember it for the next time I visit.
Also, I AM using Tomorrow, dipshit.
Notice the little "x" near "8ch.net" on the Dark Reader. That means it's disabled for this site.

No. Surprisingly, the only thing it ruins is images, and only on some instances (very rare one's). Videos are always a-okay, even if the thumbnail isn't.
Here's an example (pic related). Notice that the background is a negative of the image.
However, content that is embeded externally (I think) is unaffected. Second pic related.
I'm no tech wizard though, and someone savyer might be able to pontificate on the matter more.
Do be warned, I had to to tinker with the settings (third picture) a fair bit to get it "just right".

>Why hasnt there been a troubles FPS game yet?
I've wondered this myself before. My best guess is that there probably just aren't a lot of game devs who know enough about the Troubles to portray it accurately (in terms of locales, accents, the motivations of each side, etc).
I also imagine the paranoia that non-combatants went through during that period would be pretty hard to implement in a shooter. As a personal example, my mum worked in a post office in Belfast during the Troubles and pretty regularly had to help evacuate the place because of suspected nail bombs. Then there's stuff like checking under your car for bombs, travelling through British army checkpoints, stuff like that. That sort of thing would make for a pretty interesting mechanic but it seems like it'd be difficult to execute well.
My main worry would be an dev team making a game like this biased in favour of a particular side, especially the IRA, since they seem to be romanticised by foreigners much more often than British forces. I don't think most non-Irish people realise how almost universally despised the IRA are throughout both Northern Ireland and the Republic.

The Clinton part is bullshit.
The truth is that there are a lot of Irish Americans.
St. Patrick’s day is a popular holiday celebrated in burgerland for example.
In the 1920’s Irish independence politicians campaigned in the US and raised a substantial amount of money.
JFK helped relations a bit more in the 60’s.
Ever since it’s been pretty smooth sailing diplomatically.

Whenever someone thinks of the UK they think of England, Scotland or Ireland. Bollocks to the saeson bucktooth dodgy-looking wallies to the east, the haggisfucker bagpipe clowns in the north and the potato guinness piss drinker leprechauns on that funny island to the west. WALES has no representation in vidya and deserves more. The only bloody thing I can think of is the elf land in Runescape where all the names were in Cymraeg. That and Crusader Kings 2 to be fair.

Sorry for the late reply, hopefully you still see this.
I don't blame you for being skeptical given the amount of SJW revisionism that goes on these days.
I actually went to type up a long multi-paragraph repsonse twice now, but both times my browser crashed and I lost it; so sadly I'm not going to go into as much depth as I was originally going to: Before I broke down few ways those recreations were off, accounts from conquistadors, surviving ruins and how they inform those paintings, and depictions of cities from both pre-contact and conquest period sources…
…but tl;dr, since I'm not typing all that up again for a third time, at least not right now: Those images are very accurate. Here are some photos of ruins which still have surviving stucco and paint on them which demonstrate similar archtectural motifs; as well as archeological maps showing the size and extent of cities, and that they weren't just small villages with huts around a pyramid or two.
That being said, the images are potentially misleading/incorrect in two respects: An outright mirepresenative error is that many of the small, single room structures in the second and third images I posted wouldn't be as nice looking, with straw roofs and/or being daub rather then stucco'd adobe/stone brick. A miselading, but not incorrect element, is that the city being depicted (aside from the noble home in the top inset painting in the first image, which is from the city of Chalco), Tenochtitlan, was unusually dense and on a planned grid, when most Mesoamerican cities tended to, in contrast with European cities, typically have a dense urban core, but then their population spread out over a much wider area with suburbs, which can be seen in the last 2 maps I've posted here: So while a few other Mesoamerican cities hit the 100,000 to 200,000 population range like Tenochtitlan (Tenochtitlan actually being 200k to 250k, as big as the largest cities in contemporary 16th century europe), they had it spread out over a much wider area. Teotihuacan (as seen in the second image; the ruins in the first image are also from the city) is another exception like Tenochtitlan, being much denser (but still huge, covering 37 square kilometers), and on a planned grid.
If I feel up to it tomorrow, I'll make a more detailed post; and i'm also happy to answer further questions

GTA4 actually made a parody version of my neighborhood i grew up in. its not a major area, infact its very small and i'd be doxing myself on here since so many spics dwell on this boru if i said where it was.
its full of spics and albanians, so its accurate. but they conflated a few places and gave the parody name of where i live to somewhere else, but made it look like an area about 5 minutes away called something else. i like to go there and murder people in the park.

let's try again now
Obviously plenty of myths involve contact between gods and supernatural entities and people; and many accounts of Aztec history (contrary to what most people think, we have a fair amount of documents on aztec history and socity, a few hundred: While we would have had hundreds of times more had the Spanish not mass-burned libraries, much information was re-recorded by both spanish friars and aztec nobles/scribes in the early colional period; though sadly there's only a few documents for other cultures and civilizations in this style) are pseudo-legendary and also have instances of myth and legendary elements mixed in
There's a lot of spooky stuff in particular involving alleged omens Montezuma saw prior to the arrival of Conquistadors, such as a man who is vaugely described as "not being human" claiming to be from the underworld who informs Montezuma of the Spanish's boats, is locked up by Montezuma for making absurd claims, and then when Montezuma's spies report the boats back to him and Montezuma sought to free the man from his jail, the cage was empty as if nobody was there, etc, stuff like that. (Worth noting here that these likely reflect not then actually alleged premonitions (though likely do reflect actual aztec notions of what premminitions were like in terms of symbolism and such; though the specific example I chose isn't a good example of that), but rather stuff retroactively associated with the leadup to the conquest in the ensuing decades during which these histories were recorded by Spanish friars and aztec nobles; stuff about Cortes being seen as a god or prophesied, which ties into broader notions of aztec gods being bearded or white, is largerly to entirely the result of these sorts of early-colional period myths where the Spanish distorted existing religion to justify their divinely-ordained status and to make conversion easier)
As far as specific book suggestions, i'm really not that well informed on the best translations for a lot of early-colional period sources; many of them have never really been translated from Spanish or Nahuatl (aztec), but two safe bets which only really have one english translation each would be Duran's History of the Indies of New Spain, specific volumes of the Florentine Codex/Sahagun's A History of the Things of New Spain dealing with gods, omens, etc and the Spanish conquest. Not sure on translations for these, but Fernando Ixtilxochhitl's Historia Chichimeca and Historia Tolteca probably have stuff (and actually I do know of one translation of some of his works, being "The Native Conquistador: Alva Ixtlilxochitl’s Account of the Conquest of New Spain"), as does Fernando Tezozooc's Crónica Mexicayotl likely does as well. Domingo Francisco Chimalpahin has like dozens of works and documents he published, so much that i'm not even sure what';s what and what he's made, but he undoubtedly has published plenty of stuff which includes this sort of thing.

cont:
As far as modern annotated/anaylitical/edited works; firstly, "7 Myths of the Spanish Conquest" and "When Montezuma Met Cortes, while not having anything to do with the suggestion//x/ topic itself are both very good works breaking down the bias issues from both Spanish (tends to play up scale of sacrifices and other heretical acts, downplay the amount of work existing local states did in propping up Spanish rule) and Native sources (tends to whitewash their own history or play up the bad shit their local rivals did (Texcoca Aztec accounts make the Aztec from Tenochtitlan sound like savages, for instance); play up their own contributions to both Aztec history and the Spanish conquest, etc), so I think if you or anybody else is reading the aforementioned stuff, these should be read as well, though, again, it's sort of counterproductive to the point of looking for /x/ stuff.
I'll also give a fair warning that even as somebody who is obviously far from a /pol/tard, I found myself eye rolling a bit at some bits of these, such as the amount of time he spends talking about African auxiliaries (noting that they were there and that yes, even a few outright conquistadors were african is fine, but the amount of focus he gives it is too much) or the plight of native women (why the exclusive focus on them when men got tortured and murdered too?), there's also some claims here and there i'm iffy on, but overall I think they are worth reading as breakdowns of bias issues and noting errors/contradictory information between accounts
Anyways back to modern annotated/analytical works that actually will fulfill what the /x/ anon wants: Broken Spears is a classic collection of translated accounts from various sources of the Spanish Coinquest and lead up to it from the Aztec perspective. It's a bit outdated now and tends to frame the events with the Aztec as more passive superstitious victims (as I mentioned, this is largerly a myth perpetuated by many sources; not to mention that obvviously they fought back and many "Aztec" (I personally hate the term since it doesn't actually mean anything concrete, I can clarify on this if people want) cities actually were doing most of the work for the Spanish and allied with them) but I suppose that's a good thing given what that anon wants. Stories in Red and Black might also have some good stuff, and in general Miguel Leon Portilla's work deals with translations of Nahuatl sources and Aztec worldview/perspectives on things and is probably worth a look. It's not really related to "contact with supernatural creatures", but I feel like /x/fags would probably really get into "Aztec Thought and Culture" and "Aztec Philsophy: Understanding a World in Motion", which deal with Aztec cosmology, ethical philsophy, and monist metaphysical philsophy; though they are somewhat controversial for overemphasizing that metaphysical/philsophical inteperation of Aztec theology, when that sort of lense for it would have been limited to priests, theolgians, poets, philsophers, etc, not by the everyday aztec farmer or craftsmen, if not even being overly extrapolative even for how the former group saw things, on top of a few other issues.
And then there's obviously a ton of books dealing with gods and mythology and the like; though the only one I can think of dealing with "creatures" specifically is David Bowles's "Mexican bestiary"; which is also more aimed at a casual audience (especially rather then an academic one.
Some of this you'd have to buy, others there are scans of in the mega drive I and some other people run, others I have scans of but haven't uploaded to the mega yet, so I guess just keep an eye out: https://mega.nz/#F!vtQ2EIKK!Z7R8gN5vTsfalKDn18jOmw

I looked into it and the question of Dying Light's city is complicated, as it's apparently a blend with a lot of origins. It shares a name with a landlocked Turkish village, and has a lot of Instanbul influences. But there is some significant evidence towards it being in South America, some dialogue and the stylings of the Favela's. It also looks like Varosha, an abandoned Cypriot city, but it's also an independent city state.

HAHAHAHAHAHAHA no, most of the ones that got off quickly enough, only did it with their ID, the government is holding the university diploma certificates and the seat for the ministry of education is empty so those who leave have to either wait years so their families can get their papers, pay a lot of fucking cash to "speed up" the proces or face that they are less that on other countries their worth is less that a person who just went to elementary school so they now have to work on Mc Donalds/ a chinese restaurant/bascially work as a mule for less that low wage which is still more that the minimum wage on Venezuela.
On the flip side you can do whatever the fuck you want as long as you don't pick a fight with the government along with not being stupid enough to be kidnaped by the cops and/or military officers.
