so this got cracked pretty much immediately, sadly it loses the intended charm when you play it on a shitty PC with the setting cranked down but eh, what can you do when you are a poorfag

Old games with added gimmicks makes the games cool as long as don't hammer the core concept too much. Dr. Mario was a really popular tetris spinoff, same with Puyo Puyo and shit like that.

Tetris effect is for stoners, though. The music is nice.
