Just finished KH3 last night. Extremely dissapointed with how the serie's script turned out after all these years. Not saying it was good to begin with but it was at least servicable. I really liked the Organization / Nobodies in 2. It was childish for the most part but it felt like a satisfying base to inject Disney / Squaresoft stuff.
DDD and more specifically Khi pushed it way too far into the trash. Time travel, replicas, literally everyone that ever existed in the KH universe coming back to life for no reason, no FF characters; it felt so fucking janky and lazy. Does Nomura not care at all anymore? Not a single new character, really ? Another cliffhanger? I'm a retard cuck that bought all that shit day 1 but I'm done. Despite hating DDD I still bought 3 this summer to put that to rest, but I can't anymore. Will there be any people left to buy these games after that shitshow ?

Has Nomura ever come out and admitted that BBS was "heavily inspired" by Revenge of the Sith, or that he's a massive Star Wars fanboy? Interviews state that he came up with the story for BBS between the release of Episode 3 and KH2 so the timeline makes sense there, but I'm just wondering if he has the balls to admit that he tanked the KH plot even further than he already had because he really liked ROTS.

To be fair Cloud was always angst as fuck. That played really well with hades and at least made sense in context. The whole organization XIII was Lincoln Park tier and their back story reeked of an emo's fanfiction. KH 1 DARKNESS antagonist felt like a dark Disney antagonist akin to Scar or the voodoo man from that frog movie. KH 2 villains motives were murky and way too gackt for my tastes.

Oh hey, KH3 is finally coming and it's 90$. Even if the game wasn't rushed out and they had time to put the whole thing together, it still would be shit on release because it's being made by Osaka Team, not KH Team, who had made up to that point nothing but middling to shit portable KH games. Evidence of this in KH3 is that instead of picking something and polishing it (like Drive Forms in 2) they just shoved in as many terrible mechanics from the portable games as possible. Meanwhile, if I recall correctly, the main KH team was put to the task of making FFXV, but not somehow making it a carbon copy of KH, making it end up with KH style combat but shittier.

Played BBS for the first time a few weeks back, thoroughly did not enjoy it even as playing ventus. Command system was lame, shotlocks were lame and spammy as hell, critical mode felt way worse than 2's critical mode. It was just awful to play coming from 2. I'm just gonna go to 3D instead of doing the other character's, I heard Terra was even worse to play.

Yeah I read about how bad the vanitas remnant and unknown fights were. Watched some other guy fight unknown as terra and it took him like 6 minutes. I don't know why they made you deal so little damage in that game. And shit like your finsihers shooting you down to the ground and that one thing returning the player into the center of the arena without control for a full second. Why have a superboss that capable when the player is gimped by the game so hard? Or maybe I fucked up by trying critical mode, I've heard from others that critical mode in the other games isn't well done like it was in 2FM.
BBS just seemed poorly designed to me. I guess it would've been impressive on the PSP at least.

I enjoyed it more than BBS at least, felt somewhat closer to the console games.
At the core I just enjoyed the spirit party system more than melding commands, though I grew to like it much less near the end when more powerful commands were needed and you have to get link points with multiple spirits for really good stuff. I'm not a fan of commands in general though, it just leads you to spam shit and leaves your basic attacks relatively weak as well. Compare the finshers and alternate attacks with square you could use in KH1 and 2, meanwhile things that buff you're basic attacks in BBS and 3D are tied to timed systems that are overly flashy and oftentimes slow enough to leave you open to attacks.
I decided early on to have Sora focus on magic and Riku with action commands, which I realized was a mistake considering a lot of good ones are Sora only. Magic felt much stronger in general, by the World that Never Was, as Sora with 3x thunder boost a thundaga or 2 was enough to wipe most enemies while I had spam icebreaker and prism windmill to deal any real damage and hope one of those giraffes didn't end my shit at will. 3D both had a lot of fucking annoying enemies, with shit like ryu dragon that just didn't seem to stagger or the skelterwild that just trucked me super hard any time it showed up. BBS too, with those mandrake things with projectiles that'd take out like half my hp in a hit and spawn in packs.
Having a customizable party with multiple possible members was really cool though, I just like that kind of stuff in rpgs. It bothered me you couldn't customize their actions like in the main games, though I believe their disposition affected that. It'd be better if the game could've told you how they would react in a menu or something. Still, it could be annoying trying ot build up their links when they fight some turd across the map. Link attacks were okay, they seemed better with Sora just for the i-frames. Riku could get slowed down by them at times and missing out on a party member to draw fire in fights with many dream eaters seemed more helpful near the end.
Flowmotion was pretty dumb, I remember hearing it was parkour essentially so I expected running on walls or some shit, and it was just kind of lame. It had pretty weak damage output even in the beginning and you could still take damage so it was pretty much a death sentence if you happened to roll into a wall or something. The way it was implemented almost seems like it was added later into the development cycle or something. There were a ton of areas with carefully placed floors and flowmotion objects when you could very easily and much more quickly just jump onto a wall, jump off and jump back on that same wall with more height ad infinitum. It made high jump and glide pretty much fucking useless. I don't know what they were thinking with that.
Reality shift was there I guess. I did really like the ulitma weapon design that is used in the world that never was, a lot actually. Give it one handle and it'd be great to use.
I'd say the boss fights were pretty weak for the most part.All the dream eater bosses were just hulking figures that smash down at you over and over, with the riku fights having you fly around to actually hit the fucker in all but comantis who kind of sucked too with the camera fucking up a lot. Chernabog fight was a disappointment. Rinzler fight was fun, mostly cause you could actually tell what he was about to do instead of taking up most of the screen to swat at you.
The last Riku boss fights were tough, ESPECIALLY Ansem 2, that was a bitch. I had to stop retrying and equip a second curaga to do it and he still shat on me most of the fight. I could never figure out what to do against the giant black balls he threw at you, apparently that dark roll was critical and I never got it. YX fight wasn't so bad at first though I had to heal a lot it the last part. I liked the Xemnas fight, for all his teleporting around he was pretty manageable with good blocking. Ventus was more annoying, I just threw commands at him and never really figured out what to do against his black goo attacks and just tried to block and counter when I could. All in all, I did pretty badly against the bosses, but I enjoyed them all more than Vanitas' fights at least.

Wondering if I should just go with proud, the load times for retrying are already wearing me down a bit.

Think I'm good and done with 3d, though I guess I may try julius. I heard balloonga was good and the weaker forms were already great, but I think I'll pass on trying to get all the shit I need or whatever.
I've got to the point with cure so things aren't so bad in III, but the wave of nobodies and demon tide were pretty much bullshit. Took me long enough to get through the first with dusks sliding over to two shot me from nowhere, and Demon Tide seemed fucking hopeless since even the strongest shit you have at that point does nothing to him. I got very lucky, however, and got three good blocks with Hero's Origin's shield form which did a fuckton of damage, which felt nice I guess.
I guess I'll stick with critical but I was seriously considering doing proud for a while and still may have to if some really stupid shit comes. up. I'm pretty fine with bosses shitting on me, that's just how it is in critical mode, but I don't think the increase in mook enemies on screen due to more power in sora's hands and more party members does not combine well at all with critical mode's paper thin sora and friends. From the very first part, there are enemies that can really threaten you at any time, which isn't so bad on paper, but it is when at least 10 or so get dumped on you regularly so you got to spam shit that makes you invicible and/or attempts to screen wipe all the time. Doesn't help that lock on seems much worse, I'm pretty sure previous games could lock on to enemies not in your direct view (i.e. behind you) but that doesn't work in III, and the default horizontal camera turn is fucking sluggish.
Hate how mechanic-wise the game feels more like a sequel to bbs and 3d than 2. So goddamn spammy. At least on lower difficulties I could probably get away without having to spam huge attacks constantly. but then with all the tools sora has now it'd be a faceroll which made people to clamor for a crit mode anyway.
At least the mech shit in toy box was fun, I actually enjoyed that a lot.
Also I just want to say fuck xion. what a fucking poochie. In a series bloated with characters they had to add another kairi to a trio that already had one.

I bought a PS4, beat III and immediately returned the PS4. In hindsight giving up at BBS would be better, but I unironically like command styles stylistically. The animations for Ghost Drive are possibly my favorite for the series, possibly tied with Final Form.
