How's 6 and 7 anons? I've only played older ones. Heroes 4 is a MASTERPIECE to be said the least, i doubt that the new ones can even compete.

6bc22f  No.16736161

Just play 3

But 3 has a competent AI, spells that don't completely break the game (except for slow I guess), an interesting selection of maps and random map generator, a less tedious battle system, and good looking sprites. Why would anyone want to play that when they can play 4 instead?

Good god i hate spells on 4. I might try out 3 but it looks way too outdated

I want what you're smoking because the sprites aged far better than 4 or 5.

>But considers HoMM 4 to be a MASTERPIECE

You're going to be blown away by 3, anon.

Have fun.

I love HOMM3 especially online with HotA. But I'd like to know how are 5 6 and 7 too (never touched anything after 3).

Nigger, I'm an aesthetics whore and I'll be the first to tell you that HoMM3 has some top tier stuff.

>5

Good, but nothing special.

Definitely worth playing if you want to catch a break from 3 for a bit.

The campaign is decent.

>6

Awful, streamlined crap.

>7

No clue, but some anons said it wasn't much better.

958650  No.16736292

There is a strong consensus that 3 was the pinnacle of gaming, yeah it's not pretty as 4, but it's still better. The biggest problem with 4 is no random maps so after awhile you won't have fun unless you like playing the same fucking maps over and over.

It is, objectively even. Homm 3 and 4 animate using 3D models that get turned into 2D sprites and they we're still experimenting with this idea during 3. You can notice a lot of janky edges, obvious shoops bad lighting if you squint your eyes. 4's were a lot more polished and had more frames. Both of these still pale in comparison to 2.

5 is my favorite by far. No idea why it isn't everyone's cup of tea, but it's a great game.

6 takes 5 as the baseline of sorts with things like square grid and ATB, but its main focus was to turn the game into something like an MMO, as well as make it more accessible to a wider audience. Some of the casualization includes fewer resource types and creature abilities having "charges" for some their abilities instead of them having access to spellcasting and managing mana. They also added cooldown abilities. You still level up the hero every game as usual, but heroes learn new skills by buying them with skill points (and each spell is now a separate skill you have to buy). There's also a create-a-hero feature, with unlockable traits, artifact weapons that you keep between games, and fucking pets. A lot of the features, including just about everything related to heroes, is locked behind ubishit client, too, so don't touch this piece of shit even if you are curious.

>5 is my favorite by far. No idea why it isn't everyone's cup of tea

My personal gripes with it would be:

<square grid

<long AI turn times

<the initiative mechanic

Of those, I think that second point is what put most people off right away.

It also didn't ship with a random map generator (they added it in the first expansion, I think), so that didn't help either.

Otherwise, it's pretty good.

There's a mod that makes the turns go faster, so that's good.

Did you like the campaign?

The campaigns felt okay, though it seemed like they intentionally made the AI more lenient so that it doesn't push your shit in too hard if you don't get yours together, like it could in the very first missions in Heroes 3. Bugs also didn't help.

2 is fun

Heroes 3 + HotA is the way to go.

>How's 6 and 7 anons?

Beyond terrible. They're cheap, bug-filled messes of games. Ubisoft trying to make a quick buck off the famous franchise.
