I recently decided to play Morrowind again, and noticed a lot of differences between that and Oblivion. It wasn't as different as Skyrim, but there were still a lot of changes. From the map, to character interactions and gameplay. I felt that Morrowind was so much more in depth and interesting than Oblivion. You have a journal, in which you write notes to complete "quests", but they aren't quests. they don't have a title, or much else you would expect a quest to have. they're more favors you do, for rewards, but aren't in your face about how you're doing a quest. Morrowind also lacks a compass, objective markers, or fast travel. It definitely feels more raw and interesting than Oblivion, despite how good that game was as well. Hell, Morrowind doesn't even give you a "main objective" in the beginning, you're just told to go give this guy a thing, and go on from there. What caused these changes in design? I didn't pay attention to much news around that time so I'm not sure if normalniggers couldn't handle the difficulty or if some other factor caused these changes.
