I recently decided to play Morrowind again, and noticed a lot of differences between that and Oblivion. It wasn't as different as Skyrim, but there were still a lot of changes. From the map, to character interactions and gameplay. I felt that Morrowind was so much more in depth and interesting than Oblivion. You have a journal, in which you write notes to complete "quests", but they aren't quests. they don't have a title, or much else you would expect a quest to have. they're more favors you do, for rewards, but aren't in your face about how you're doing a quest. Morrowind also lacks a compass, objective markers, or fast travel. It definitely feels more raw and interesting than Oblivion, despite how good that game was as well. Hell, Morrowind doesn't even give you a "main objective" in the beginning, you're just told to go give this guy a thing, and go on from there. What caused these changes in design? I didn't pay attention to much news around that time so I'm not sure if normalniggers couldn't handle the difficulty or if some other factor caused these changes.

The features got streamlined ("dumbed down"/"stripped") to attract more casual audiences. Oblivion is more streamlined than Morrowind. Skyrim is more streamlined than Oblivion. Skyrim 2 will be even more so.

that really sucks because I liked morrowind because of how difficult and strange it was. the whole experience felt more raw and unforgiving

Morrowind was a PC game later ported to xboxhuge. Oblivion was made from the start with consoles, and their owners, in mind.

why are people so lazy? it's much better to discus everything in a single thread

5ae008  No.16711646

Because if you're a casual and not prepared to commit, Morrowind is a nightmare.

Hence:

>I swing at things and miss wtf

>I can't kill a bug wtf

>Why am I fatigued

>Where do I go, why isn't there a quest marker for the dwemer puzzle cube

Etc.

Young'uns are picking up Oblivion the same way they used to pick up Morrowind, years past.
