Dualshock 4. It has solid build quality compared to its predecessor and has a gyroscope, which is something I have come to appreciate. I'd like it a lot more if it had a better trackpad because then emulating DS games would be that much better. It's unfortunate that it'll probably be dropped in the next version, but at least some of its DNA got into the Steam gamepad. I also wish it had face buttons so I could emulate PS2 games like Metal Gear and Ace Combat rather than switch over to my Dualshock 3.

This one.
The trackpad is super handy for navigating your OS before opening the games and also mess with unsupported UIs.
Of course, if the game has camera aiming for shooting or something that require similar precision, a mouse+keyboard is much better.

>you can't beat immediate pinpoint accuracy in any direction with a stick.
You can, twin stick shooters are built around center pivot points. Few games are even built for free mouse aim and even those that are control far better when you have that point. A mouse does not have that. If you're playing hotline miami (play a better game please god) and your cursor is in the bottom left corner, but the next guy is in the top right corner, you need to completely re-orient your mouse position which depending on your sensitivity balance and your current physical location of your mouse on the pad, may require resetting.
You know what doesn't require resetting to that degree? Anything with pivoting. A d-pad, a stick, an analog stick even. What twin stick shooters have you played? Autism cactus and hotline?

This is why I love gyroscopic aiming and hope to see more of it in things that aren't BotW. I saw a video about it being functional in certain single-player games thanks to the Steam API, so now I'm curious because that might be a pretty good alternative as it's far more ergonomic.

that's a tradeoff standpoint, the typical mouse is accurate has infinite max distance until the game zuccs you, centering is countered by moving the other way even harder. You may not like it, but the reality is you can only focus on so many things at one time. Usually two. Beyond that your brain just sort of puts everything else in the background. In the few games that support a mouse in the twin stick shooter genre, they would all play better with a two stick setup because you aren't juggling the angle of your cursor, the position of your character, the position of the enemies, the environment around you, any other hazards, and whether or not your cursor is in a position that will hinder you, on a position on your mousepad that will require a reset, or if your sensitivity requires a reset to reach the point on the screen you want to be in.
Still waiting for the twin stick shooters you mousecucks have played.

I use a power A controller with custom thumbstick attachments that make them look like gamecube control sticks.
My only complaints are how the thumbstick attachments had a tendency of falling off when I had to spin and abuse my thumb sticks on Metal Gear Rising and it's a little hard to press up and left on the same time on the d-pad for fighting games.
But I'm more used to PS d-pads instead of this d-pad. I wish there a controller for PC that has the structure of a dual shock 2, but isn't cheap chink shit.
Second pic related is what I used before the power A. it wasn't too bad, I still have it as a back up, but after less than a few months of use the paint on the face buttons wore off so now its face buttons are blank normally the letters/symbols on face buttons are a part of the plastic instead of being paint, so they really cut corners on this and it had a problem with the RB getting stuck at random times which would often get me killed in a few games.

The biggest thing now is the ergonomics, since no one can seem to agree on which kind of placement is best, though you seem to be set on it being a hybrid of the 360 and One. DS 3 support on PC is complete shit, even a DS 2 with adapters is better than that garbage, for years people had to install Chinese malware just to get it working, and nowadays ain't so much better, you still resort to a bulky and messy installer that emulates a layer between your PC and the DS 3 just so that it works without issues, and even then some games and emus fail to detect the dpad.

Does anybody know where to get any good gamecube controllers? Bought a couple on Amazon but both of them don't work in the first controller slot so pretty useless for me. Both work in the other controller slots just not the first. Have an official one that still works in that slot but it is about as old as the console itself.

What about first person shooty games, isn't using a mouse and keyboard just flat out better, I mean how many pc games even allow for the use of a controller without using a outside program?

I hate to shill for MS but after using one for a while being seeing the money black hole that is cutsom GCC, I think I get what they were going for with the elites. There's still a laundry list of issues (cheap plastic spring bumpers, insane snapback from the metal sticks, micro usb that's prone to failure, no bluetooth) but the rest of it has been pretty good. The non-bumper build quality feels nice and hefty, setting a paddle to jump to free up my right thumb for camera control made 3D platformers a lot comfier, hair trigger control makes wavedashing a lot easier, and the pins on the usb cord that came with it have lasted longer than the micro usb port itself. Still embarrassing how bad the launch was but hopefully they can learn with the second one or at least iron out the production kinks after fucking over the first run.

Power a isn't half bad either, the programmable buttons on the back get the job done and everything feels good enough. I only have one as a backup so I wouldn't expect it to last a lot of use but the price is so cheap that it hardly matters.
