Every so often i get a mean hankering for some pvp gameplay. I'm not really a big first person fan and also don't have any friends that enjoy pvp at all so i'm often going full billy-no-mates which tends to effect my choices.
Personally i tend to enjoy or have enjoyed in recent years:
>Dead by Daylight: Playing as a Killer like Clown or Huntress and playing hide and seek while being a boogeyman
>FFXIV Wolves Den/Frontlines: Generic hotbar pvp in the hotbar mmo i play, nothing amazing but doesn't have a huge gear grind that effects it and is balanced separately
>The Divisions Dark Zone: it was fun and tense to sneak around and avoid other players, until the game devolved into campers at spawn points
>Splatoon 2: one of the few i can play with friends and the varied weapons and mobility make it fun if simple
>Dark Souls invasions: Not so much invading as being invaded. Its nice to mix up the levels that never ever change and i know like the back of my hand.
>Rainbow Six Siege: absolute trash meme game now but for a period i got it cheap and had fun kicking in doors and pixel hunting around corners.
All of which i would call for the most part 'pvp-lite'. I don't get super into 'sweaty' games where you play matchmade gametypes in pvp only games for thousands of hours, its just smaller games or side games i enjoy every now and then. But they either tend to end up too obsessive over minutia or i get too good to have fun against casuals but not good enough to compete against the hardcore high skill gap players which leaves you without many balanced games to enjoy.
What player vs player experiences do you enjoy?
