Do what you want, put your game out, stop coming to forums for validation. You move, people follow. I give my support to any dev that enters the industry. You've put up sprites that are servicable and good. Make your game, don't engage on forums until you are done, unless you're looking for tips in a dev thread.

Get moving, make your thing, because if it turns out to be good, I will play it. That's all you have to concern yourself with.

I mean yes, technically you can have a good game in spite of awful art. But it's never something people entirely overlook, "this game's really fun but you have to get over it looking like pixelized throw up"

So while you can overcome it, it's another hurdle that your gameplay/whatever has to prop up.

Personally I don't pay for 2D games.

But what others are saying; if you want to use this to learn/improve as well as gain a fan following, then its acceptable to have shit art (all devs make shit games at first). If you want money, then you'll have to hire other people- you can't guarantee that your game will have a fan following in the first place, or just happen to have 1 fan that you can rely on to mod your game. And on top of that, you'll probably have to get connections so you can end up with e-celebs making shill vids for the game.
