After playing Another World and the Turrican trilogy I've been interested in playing other games made for these systems, what games do you guys recommend playing?

Grandpa anon, are you telling stories again?

>Amiga

SWOS 96/97, Cannon Fodder, Exile, Lionheart, Benefactor, Gods, Alien Breed, Lotus Turbo Challenge, Perihelion, Hired Guns, Pinball Dreams, Ishar trilogy, that's for starters. Platformers were Amiga's strongest point but a lot of them were collectathons and/or Sonic clones, so YMMV.

>>16699626

thanks for the list, what about rpgs or fps, any good ones? or did PC always have the upper hand in those regards?

4b1716  No.16699652

Most of the C64 games kind of suck (due to multiple issues like loading from tape or disk) but have some fucking awesome music like robocop, outrun and tetris as prime examples, Planet X2

yeah, turrican is a big example of that too

>>16699655

oh I thought all of the games he listed were platformers, sorry about that

6fabca  No.16699699

>>16699639

PC did have the upper hand on both. FPS is almost non existent on Amiga. There was a Ultima Underworld clone on Amiga called Legends of Valour, that's at least notable on the RPG side, there's also a dozen dungeon crawlers/blobbers. On the FPS side there was Alien Breed 3D… and not much else.

You should look through LemonAmiga and Hall of Light, the former has a top games list ranked by users, the latter is the most extensive Amiga game database ever. Amiga was largely an arcade, adventure and platformer machine, didn't have the very complex games for the most part.

Wings, absolutely required. If you can only play one Amiga game, Wings is it. All of the Forgotten Realms SSI games were awesome, with Curse of The Azure Bonds at the top of the list. Ultima 6 was, for its time, way ahead of the curve and would still be considered a good RPG to this day.

I'll check them out then, thanks anon

I have played ultima 6, does the amiga port have anything different or it's a straight port from DOS?

the only gold box game I've played was pool of radiance, what makes azure bonds much better?

Gloom and Breathless are supposed to be decent, but I haven't played them.

>oh I thought all of the games he listed were platformers, sorry about that

Platformers, all right, here you go. Soccer Kid, Bubble & Squeak, Traps 'n' Treasures, Superfrog, Ruff 'n' Tumble, Fire & Ice, James Pond trilogy, Oscar, Trolls, Wiz 'n' Liz, Zool 2. But like I said a lot of that stuff is polarizing, so you should explore for yourself. Lemonamiga is a decent site to check out the library.

The Amiga Dungeon Master is the definitive version.

ots of ports on the Amiga of course. Turrican series, Hired Guns, Gods, and of course, Captive. Faery Tale Adventure was fun.

All the Gold Box D&D games and Wizardy games are pretty good too. Again though, just ports. Bard's Tale I and II are also pretty good on Amiga.

82004d  No.16700528

Since asking about Amiga, any decent shit been ported to it in this day and age as well? I know it can run Mac games better than a Mac, and DOS emulation is fine. More curious of native. Quake and Quake 2 are on it, Doom, but anything surprising? Fucking Jedi Knight 2 runs on MorphOS.

Sage for off topic.

>>16699652

SD card loaders for floppy/tape and shit nowadays, with fastloading capabilities for C64 or bypassing altogether and storing on a HDD on Amiga.

I got down some rabbit hole the other day and ended up watching and reading some things on Little Computer People, seems a number of people preferred the C64 version. I think Rescue On Fractalus is interesting just because it ran at all. Through a lot of delayed development the work on the sequel more or less became Rogue Squadron.

Planet X2's a pretty neat game, and I like the developer's YouTube channel. He's far from your typical eCeleb faggot, his videos are actually interesting and have useful info for restoring old computers, and judging by his earlier videos he's more right-leaning than one might expect.

8-bit guy is quality but he comes off as a weird pedo with his cross eye and his facial structure. doesn't really detract from the quality of his videos or his dedication to retro computers though, he's the least poser youtuber in history, he spends months packaging his games for sale by hand

honestly everyone here would look more like/actually be a pedo compared to him though, so he's just cool.

He's got a weird mannerism about him but I think that just comes from his age mostly and that he was probably never the most social kind of guy. He's certainly got fewer red flags of being a pedo than ProJared and those faggots at Yogscast or whatever.
