Which one of the Sierra's city builders is your favorite?

Do you complete campaigns or do you build only on peaceful maps?

What's your opinion on Caesar IV and Children of the Nile?

I like making big ass city in Caesar III until i hit data limit or get bored and download some custom maps. There's also new open source port of Caesar III called "julius" (with linux/switch/vita support).

Fuck off with your ironic cuckchan tier reply, i actually got into Caesar recently, not inspired by some e-celeb crap.

e967d0  No.16698892

I'm stuck in Caesar III's Syria mission. It's bit of a pain to deal with parthians, kikes and borderline unreasonable demands in domestic goods.

What's the best way to deal with logistics in Caesar III? Is it better to have multiple warehouses scattered all around the city or just to have some central warehouses near production facilities? In my experience, there is often a risk that traders end up doing pointless supply runs, meaning that they go fetch some goods, and by the time they get to warehouse or granary there is fuck all for them because granaries and warehouses nearer to the production facilities are getting prioritized.

Also, I'd like to remind me everyone that you can play Caesar III with open source version of the engine;

https://github.com/bvschaik/julius

94e910  No.16698907

>>16698892

You are aware about right click setting that allows you to select which goods warehouse should get? Accepted goods get stored by passing by workers, "getting goods" option allows you to prioritize warehouse workers to actually deliver goods to warehouse. Same with granaries.

Build roads efficiently and use gatehouses to keep non-destination workers from using them. Centralize your production in one place, while having separate warehouses "getting goods" near place where you need them. I deliver pottery and furniture this way to far off located city blocks, as well as prioritize delivering wheat in granaries.

Also always develop only one type of food, and deal with second type of food only when you stabilized intake of first one.

94e910  No.16698915

Also good idea if you have problems with trade, place warehouses where traders pass by, and force them to only "get goods" that you want to sell. Honestly i never had troubles with market as soon as i stabilize production. I don't even tax people if market is well.

In case of civilian city markets, get additional warehouses and granaries with prioritized goods that you want them to sell near their points of interest.

Sometimes you have to make multiple "getting" granaries close to shops, and only one that's accepting near farms.

Hey anons, is there some sort of fan made third party engine or something that you can make your own Isometric impressions style city builder games in? Sort of like RPG maker but with city builders?

Asking because my dream game would be a city builder in this style themed around Mesoamerican (Aztec, Maya, etc) civilizations, but none exist, but I feel like I hjave the autism needed to make one provided there was an existing engine designed for modularity and game creation existed.

Alternatively, are there modding toolkits for the official games?

They're all pretty good and all bring something unique to the table, though Emperor is likely the best simply because it is the most polished mechanically.

Well, the problem is that there are fuckton of them:

Caesar IV (Tilted Mill)

CivCity Rome (Firefly and Take 2)

Imperium Romanum (Haemimont Games)

GrandAges: Rome (Haemimont Games)

And they all actually play like Tropico, rather than Caesar III. CivCity Rome seems to be most casual, but you also have to learn how to avoid idle workers glitch.

Now that's a bit different, you can start modding an existing open source project based on Caesar like Julius or CaesarIA, a 3d game called 0 A.D. or any kind of sim-city like open source builder, if you have programming knowledge and aren't just going to replace sprites/models.

Play Caesar II, it had something like that. You had main city, and a "province" map, in which you could build up things helping your city, like industries and trade routes, and send armies to far away tribes on the map.

In Caesar III province was cut down in favor of having everything done on one map and trade routes arranged on the roman empire map.

Not even real egyptian excavations are free of "we wuz" thanks to (((restorations))). I especially like Minoan Crete ones. There are always screeches between people pointing out european origins of that civilization and blacks pointing out on art that was excavated and "restored" by like one guy. Looking at this picture you would think it was diverse multicultural civilization, when it just wasn't, it was a fucking homogeneous island that weren't even building walls because they feared nothing. Pyramids were made by homogeneous population of egypt before they even decided to own slaves. Nubians were used as warriors, they weren't engineers or loved pharaoh enough to participate in pyramid building.

Also pyramids are achievements of earlier pharaohs who had trust of other nobles and power. Later pharaohs just couldn't copy earlier dynasties ability to rise such amount of workers in their glory.

The Settlers IV seriously needs to be fixed. Even the latest version is very buggy.

Then there is the problem, that the game needs DDraw in hardware mode to get its full visual quality. There is only on wrapper that actually works with the games high settings.

Another problem is the enemies AI. They made the enemies smarter in one of the old patches, because they were to easy on non campaign maps. In those maps the enemy starts with a very small base, just like the player. In the campaign maps the enemy however starts with a full base. This was probably done, because the enemies in The Settlers III would sometimes run out of resources. However sine the AI got a lot smarter, the enemy starts producing solders at the start of a match. By the time you can finally produce you own soldiers, the enemy will do his first attack with an army of about 50 soldiers.

The recently released History edition adds support for widescreen resolutions, but the high graphic settings were removed and almost no bugs were fixed.

There is also no open source port, unlike Settlers I - III.

547787  No.16720991

>>16720978

This is a stupid question, but do people actually love having enemies in city builders? Most of the gameplay is planning efficient city out, but then when you get to army management its all about making it as soon as possible and knowing from where enemy comes from, and unlike age of empires the army size just settles everything.

Aufbruch der Kulturen is especially good. It back ported some of the elements, from The Settlers III. All races play slightly different, there are ranged combat units and you can evoke wonders a temple.

The game got released only in Germany and Russia. The multiplayer was online only and is discontinued. You can now only play against the computer.

Anon reminded me of it but I played the shit out of it when I was a kid. It's an rts like Age of Empires but the resource amounts are higher, so you have millions of resources and the population amount is similiarily adjusted so you have battles of 1K men vs 1K men. There's multiple factions like Roman, Greek and I think there's Egyptians but I'm not sure. It's set in Roman Republic times.

You recruit your hero at your town center and can purchase upgrades for him to get stronger, then you can play third person as him. There's Alexander the Great and Julius Caesar as commandable heroes I'm sure but can't remember any more. The heroes have commands like being able to call your artillery to strike a location even if it's accross the map or telling your troops to move. You have commands like Follow Me, Wait here, Wait there and attack. It's not really that advanced but you can get into the middle of combat with hundreds of dudes around so it's pretty impressive.

Because there is commandable heroes, every building has a modelled interior so you can go into your barracks or climb the walls and so at the enemy from them. It's a really fun idea for a strategy game and I have no clue why more don't do it.
