I like that Sega is digging up its back-catalogue for games to remaster, but I wouldn't make too much of it. They'll probably watch the sales for it and if it does well, they might remaster other Super Monkey Ball games. Cash cows like Sonic, Total War, and Yakuza are still going to be their top priority unless it does gangbusters, but it is nice that other franchises are getting what passes for a chance.

At this point it has to be absolutely fucking impossible to recover JSRF. The source code is beyond lost and the game itself must be such a spaghetti mess that it's impossible to reverse engineer. A couple years ago some studio pitched a new JSR title to Sega and they said they had no interest in it. Unless they've quietly started their own mission to port JSRF since then, it looks pretty bleak for that franchise. And seeing how JSRF handled on the Xbox 360 it probably isn't worth the cost of investment to salvage it, let alone improve it.
