I still don't get how The Pokemon Company fucks up probably thee biggest anime movie out there, while Square makes a pretty good looking CGI movie from a franchise which is only popular in Japan. Like the comparisons are night and day. It's almost as terrible as the Sonic movie, like holy shit.
Also whatever happened with that Nu-DOOM movie that was supposed to come out? Did they cancel that or are they still working on it.

Comparing the two trailers, I can definitely agree that the art style for the Pokemon movie looks absolutely god fucking awful. All of the characters, the Pokemon especially, look like plastic models instead of actual breathing animals. Dragon Quest's trailer has a much better art style, though I would say that the actual animations of the characters are about on par with one another, with both movies having weird quirks like having some strange facial animations and some animations that fail to have proper weight and momentum behind their motion.

I have never played Dragon Quest and even I recognize the music. Pokemon has several memorable tracks they could have just copypasted, wouldn't even need to remix or anything.

Well, yeah. A cinematic trailer is possible to do in-game but that is based on the the discrepancy of technological limitations of hardware and being able to render it in real-time with very minimal impact to fps. The cinematic trailer will always look better but the difference between it and real in-game models is definitely getting shorter as tech gets better. The difference is still in the 3D animated blockbuster vs. that same 3D animated movie but made into a tv series with a smaller budget. Noticeable but not as drastic as like the leap of early 90s vs 2000s cg.

I watched it. It's very mediocre, with a lot of special effects instead of practical effects for the action, shittons of cuts and whatnot.
The woman was purdy but she's usually in like a business suit or an assassins burka outfit the entire time so no T&A unfortunately. And I remember the ending being pretty fucking stupid, something about the father of the woman being the big bad, and the woman outright letting the assassins kill him, but then turning around 5 seconds later after his death and throwing a bitchfit and vowing to take revenge.

The same way you learn to draw, by copying and tracing pictures as a kid, is the same way you learn to do anything. You imitate the stuff you like, right down to copying it directly, until you've got your legs and then you start making up your own stuff inspired by that stuff.
And don't get hung up on being truly original. It's nearly impossible and it's hardly worth it in the end. Just do something you like, and do it with passion, and that passion will bleed through. And the more you do it, the more competent you will become.

Making a video games is a bit more complicated than making a comic book. I do agree with you on it needing to be done though. Comicsgate also has a built-in audience that's still relatively active. Gamergate unfortunately squandered its ability to sell games. (project socjus actually looked like it had some potential). We do have some game development going on here at 8/v/ (something we don't talk about or celebrate enough) but it's mostly little things that would only play to us and the culture here. I'm not saying it can't be done yeah, some pretty cool games have been made by just one or two people in the past. But it takes time, dedication, and a little bit of passion. (one of the big problems is our community hasn't been passionate about anything in a long time)
