I'm sort of mixed on the design. On one hand I do hope her other ascensions/final art suit my taste more, but on the other the more 'mature' feel, to the point the Gudaguda strip refers to her as "Adult Nobu", is a good way to show that this is a more serious Maou who (as far as we can guess right now) has dropped some of the Fool of Owari tendencies.

I'm just hoping her skills aren't super heavily niche, by giving her Dantes' Attack and Jeanne Alter's HP I'm assuming her skills are going to be what makes her stand out from both of them. I'm guessing like the other Nobus it will be heavily crit based, but I dunno.

Her NP is already a bit niche, although it already makes her a good anti-divine unit as she should be. Said NP being removing all defense buffs and then dealing extra damage to divine servants + burn. It being multi target when divine enemies usually show up solo isn't great though.

Regardless she's getting level 100 10/10/10 day 1 as I've asked for this for years.

First Impressions of Maou:

She's got three vastly different sprites, the first being a rather regular Nobu, the second being that long, tied off haired scout from the PV, and the third we already know. I'm partial to the first, but I don't hate the third. The second is just sort of weird.

Gameplay-wise… I don't think she'll be rated very highly. It almost seems like she's supposed to be a support for the other Nobus with her skill set. The first one gives her a buff and (I believe) causes any field to act like it's got the "on fire" attribute, which directly helps berserker Nobu. But it comes at the cost of quite a bit of burn damage over time. Her second skill is a pretty standard 1 turn invul. Her third skill is a minor NP charge and per turn star gain. Nothing about it really stands out. Maybe her internals are better than I'm giving them credit for, but so far I'm guessing it's not going to turn out well.

Lore-wise, though I haven't really started the event yet because QP grinding, she doesn't seem all that different in tone from regular Nobu. Something which stands out is that she IS NOT Chaotic Evil, which I believe is the first for an Avenger, being only Chaotic Neutral.

She's still my Maou Waifu though so will post level 100 10/10/10 before the day is over

Her kit isn't very good, but it's not like she's original release Medb or Amakusa. If her first skill got strengthened with that demerit removed she'd be average. Actually Maou Nobunaga is a full woman. It's only Kippochi who probably has the D. Maou just has manface because Pako's attempts at drawing older characters. Her spritework is fine though, and some expressions aren't bad, and after 12+ hours I've gotten used to it. So finally getting around to playing the event and it looks like we might be getting a part 2 gacha, as Shibata Katsuie has appeared in battle as a fully functional servant character. Golden Berserker, 4* I assume. I'm guessing Akechi Mitsuhide might also get an actually playable version later on in the event as he's been showcased as working with Maou Nobu. Nobukatsu currently MIA, but I wouldn't be surprised if he at least makes another story appearance. We already got the Male Nobunaga niche filled now though with Kippochi for whoever wanted that.

That may have been the shortest main quest of an event we've had in years. It doesn't help it was ridiculously easy and under leveled in spite of being current with the plot, so as to attract new players. While I'm happy with who was released and the general plot, it's just disappointing that there wasn't much of it at all. A dedicated person could complete it in maybe three hours.

Epilogue for the event drops in about 9 hours, probably also with a Katsuie Shibata gacha as he seemed to be in a fully playable condition in the event. That being said I have no idea who else would be put in the gacha, and I doubt they'd also release Akechi/Maxwell/Nobukatsu without also showing them off in a playable form beforehand, but I also don't see Katsuie being 5 star and just having a 4 star on rate up would be.. weird.

Of course, there could easily just not be a part 2 gacha and they save Katsuie for something else entirely. I wouldn't put it past them.

But, yeah, events you're probably going to be expected to get X amount of one thing and Y amount of another, and it'll take a few hours, and I guess that can be boring for some people with no autoplay feature or anything like that.

That being said, I don't feel the second complaint is on point at all. They add new gimmicks to boss fights all the fucking time, and changing up how the strategy of your team operates can be as simple as replacing a single servant. As for

The gimmicks don't do enough to change the core combat, it just never meshed with me, and once I realized the only reason I was playing was to log in, do my exp/material daily, look at my skill list realize I had to grind whatever to get Y mat. I've tried a ton, and all of them usually devolve into a grind. The question is how late do they devolve. Honkai Impact 3rd isn't awful, it at least tries to be a game, but it's pay to win, and you'll notice the grind instantly, though the combat is more skillbased than most phone games, so you can generally win as long as you're not up against an HP wall with a timer. I started Azur lane recently, it's like a crappy little SHMUP but I can already tell it's going to get grindy as hell once I get closer to the endgame, and there seem to be a ton of event exclusive dudes which isn't promising. Random maps also take far too long given that it's generic trash that doesn't even really do damage.

Rhythm games are alright, you only log in to do the event song and then ignore it until the next event song comes out, you can safely ignore all grind without ever worrying about falling behind or being unable to do content.

Really the question isn't if there's grind, it's how far you can get before you hit a point where all you do is grind. Though it's a struggle to see how much idolshit you can put up with.

Worst contender has to be Girls Frontline, which somehow instantly felt grindy without even leaving the tutorial segments.

Well, that's the thing. "Enough" isn't really a thing when you're talking about grailing a 1*. They can only get to a very middling range even at max level. It's not like a 3/4* which have comparible results at the end of their lines, or at the very least are usable. I don't blame you, I quit Girl's Frontline when they started doing breakneck speeds and I could not keep up with the amount of Farming they wanted right out of the gate. Hell, a few weeks in and they wanted to start Cube and hearing the horror stories of Cube and Hypothermia, I noped out of that very quickly. It was like starting FGO at launch and a few months in they want to do CCC. I can't keep up with that.

On other games, I find Another Eden is very chill. Still Grindy mind you, but every update is permanent, so I never feel absolutely rushed to do it ASAP. If you want a pretty good JRPG with no time crunches and Quality of Life updates I'd recommend that. The Madoka one that just came out is pretty good too, though they're rushing content pretty hard, it's not as bad as GFL is. My complaint though is their version of CEs (Memorias) are really lackluster compared so it feels all the more insulting when you get one in the Gacha instead of a Meguka

Yes and No. They make Zerkers trivial, not merely easy, trivial, with the only exception thus far being God Arjuna because his boss fight gives him stupid high buffs to the point he can kill any character in a given turn. Normally it turns their 1.5x attack, which they are balanced around, into only 0.5x which makes them even less dangerous than your usual class advantage situation.

But as regular units they aren't half bad either. They have pretty high crit weight for an extra class and so far their skills have been pretty good, especially the five stars. I don't know about MHXX in particular though. I wouldn't call using foreigners generally on your team wasting a spot or anything though, except in an alter ego fight given the representation for the class we have so far. Of course though it's always better, in my opinion, to use class advantage when possible, but it not always is for everyone.

So after using the new Nobu outside her event, where she gets no bonuses, I have to say she's not that bad, not nearly bottom of the meme list-tier, and she definitely has easy potential to be good given strengthening quests.

Her skills have fairly quick cool downs for what they do, and her first skill gives her a very very good attack boost, and she already has pretty high attack being an avenger, which if you're able to count to three can actually set up some devastating damage. Her hit counts are high, and her NP gain even with only one arts card is actually pretty impressive. If she gets one skill buff or NP buff, which is very likely given the slag she's getting, she could become pretty formidable in her own right. Skill-wise if her first skill simply has its heavy damage demerit removed it becomes near the best steroid in the game, being an average of 50% attack buff for three turns. If they simply buff the second or third skill to remove demerits that fixes that too. Alternatively if her NP gets the standard boost and then also gets an easy added effect of "deals additional damage on a burning field" then she'll instantly have broken NP damage. I just can't agree with the dumb nip meme list when you can ponder very little tweeks like that and have her suddenly be far more scary. T

his isn't to say she's "good" right now. The biggest drawback is that huge demerit on the first skill, which is understandable lorewise/even balancewise but the rest of her kit makes it a far heavier penalty than it should be. Her third skill could also be more impressive either via a scaling np charge or giving her crit weight or something. The second skill is just a standard invul, which is nice to have when she's as low in HP and self vulnerable, the second effect is a bit niche though. Her max HP, by the way, is insanely low for no reason. They shouldn't have given her the lows of both Dantes and Jeanne Alter. They only did that because her first skill is good, but it's not THAT good. And they already threw a demerit on it. Everything else about her is fine, or fine enough, Seeing elsewhere people saying shit like her first skill is too niche because you have to wait three turns to get the best out of it makes you a dummy. It's not hard to set up your future turns in this game

There's a reason for why it's that way, and while a reason doesn't make it good it explains the thought process behind the unbalance. The first reason, and it's not a good, is that at the start of the game the Ruler class was not designed with any intention of being balanced. It was supposed to be the ultimate anti-standard class unit. A fucking tank against your enemies, but rare to find. This was back in the early days when the game was basically garbage with fate paint on it and a few gimmicks to get people interested. I doubt they'd do anything like that if they had a chance to rebalance the early designs.

Then there are Avengers. Original designs indicated it was supposed to be a joke class weak against everything, probably representing Angra alone like Stay Night had implied with him being the only Avenger. Obviously this was retconed–and I personally think this was a good move–into Angra himself just being weak but the class being a fairly solid extra class of burning, but sane, hatred–giving it justification of being strong against the saintly rulers. This seems to have been done primarily to have an anti-tank weapon against the tanks which were Rulers that were there from that early game design. They were strong enough to crush an iron wall's defenses, although had low enough HP that you wanted to be careful in more normal situations. And that in and of itself worked fine as a bandaid to that artifact of early game design. Not super, but well enough to make the problem less of one.

Moon Cancer later on gets added as an anti-anti-tank class, giving Avenger a direct weakness, and Ruler a direct strength. Their own niche seems to be in having a weaker attack, but very good skills, at least in BB's case. Ganesha isn't quite like that, and because they aren't really serving any purpose there are few. It's probably more a case of putting the lore cart before the gameplay horse here, opposite of how they changed Avenger to be more suited to gameplay.

As someone who pulled her from a ticket and did the special ascension option, her skills are kinda lackluster save the third skill from what I'm fiddling with. I can't read nip but I can guesstimate that her first skill is Debuff negation, HP Regen and NP charge per turn, Her second skill is an evade for 1 attack and a crit and her third skill the one that's really nice is like tactics with an NP overcharge attached to it

Her NP is AOE with an Arts Buff that applies at the beginning before the damage that increases with overcharge and it gives the party back either 20-30% charge. She's okay, I'd say. Seems like a very selfish AOE arts rider. We don't have many of those so I mean, at least that's good. She needs a buff on her second skill because 1 time Evade and 1 turn crit is just kinda abysmal, though truth be told I don't know how high that crit damage goes
