>Why would you want to generate larger cities?
>The whole point is to grow them yourself.
As I said in the post you referenced, it's entirely too easy and not very interesting. Having a mod that lowered the population density and spread the cities out a little more, while giving them more city-like appearances, would be pretty fun. I want cities that require bus and train stations to be further apart, making the terrain around the city and the design of your transportation networks more interesting. I'd like larger, less-dense rural towns. It'd probably function better like this if there were fewer towns, as well. Is there anything wrong with wanting that?
For example, in the picture you posted, if nothing but this segment existed, it'd still be an extremely profitable city with just one station. Adding bus stations to ferry passengers would multiply that. It'd be profitable enough to fund multiple ventures. All it required was a station to be built, with little actual planning. If that segment were less population dense and spread amongst a larger region, elevated terrain, bridges, and buses would play a huge role in earning that money.
I know there is a mod that expands the resources, making it so you have to ship goods more times to reach the final, more valuable goods. What I'm asking for would serve a similar function, but for cities. I already use the setting where passengers demand going to specific stations as opposed to going anywhere at all, and I think it's a pretty worthwhile improvement.
