Lets discuss about the Divinity series of videogames (From Divine Divinity to Divinity: Original Sin 2)

I played Dragon Commander some time ago (Lizard best companion & dwarf best waifu). It was fun, although the RTS parts could be annoying & even hard, but it can be passable. That was my first Divinity game.

And just some months ago, I played Divinity: Original Sin. And it was a nice RPG: Good music, nice mechanics, history not bad, some replayability, etc…. I enjoyed a lot. And so once I finished it, I went directly to play Original Sin 2; But while I didnt struggle much with the first game, Im having problem with the second

>OS1 at normal difficulty, had a normal beginning. Maybe one of your characters could die in the first battle against orcs, but not much problem in the end. and going on, you could advance normally, maybe some death and sometimes losing, but not much struggle if you are not retarded.

>Stealing shit is REALLY profitable, and so money doesnt become hard to get. Then again, resurrection scrolls cost like dozen-a hundred gold, so it becomes really easy to obtain them sometime after the beginning. Skillbooks can cost a lot depending of which ones, but its fair, and you can get some skills at the beginning.

>Game versatility at leveling characters is fine. And it promotes to a wizard character have many skills set that synchronize, so having two wizard which each one having to main elemental schools of magic is really good. But no need to be autistic, and other character is fine to focus, and maybe getting some points in other combat skillsets. If one were playing hard (Which many say is a huge step compared to normal), maybe it would not be the case, but then again, this is Classic difficulty.

<OS2 even at the beginning and normal too and being some levels is hard and your companions die easily, while your enemies are tough as shit. They will hit you more, and it will be felt more than you do. And with the armor mechanics, which is not bad, but somehow your armor dissapears quickly while theirs not. They will alway have better position & movement, ALWAYS.

<Gold is scarce as shit here, and there is not much to steal anyways at Fort Joy. And skill books are really expensive. AND YOU WILL NEED THEM.

<But worst are the resurrection scrolls, they cost THOUSAND gold, and your character even at the beginning will die fast. Dont get surprised for a battle to one-two character to die. Thank good you start by having multiple scrolls.

>No wonder there are a shitload of character builds for this game. You either focus on one type of armor (So get fucked when dealing other armor at the beginning), and guides arent bad, but tey always show you a picture of final stats & skill points of a character WITH BONIFICATIONS included, so I cant know shit if in an atribute its only one-three points to put, or more becuase the have whatever equipment buff included. With skills is worse, you gotta have a points in almost everything (even if only some points tough) to get some skills, and too much difuse for me. Its good to not focus only on one set but come on.

I am doing something wrong or what? Maybe im being dumb, but really, I didnt had much problem with the first game, but here I struggle, and I cant win against the guard on the dungeon when entering the hidden door on the Fort Joy statue…

Also, another thing about the Divinity series….where is the lore? The wikis dont have no information about the world or its history, for some weird reason. How a RPG doesnt have lore available for a newcomer on its wikis?

Dragon Commander is dog shit. You're here fighting a fucking war trying to reunite all the kingdoms and these 2 stupid cunts are sitting here crying about faggot shit every time you talk to them. Gay should marry. Why won't you let gays marry. I hate you for this decision. Men are bad. Men are awful. I couldn't tell if this was meant to be a tongue in cheek parody or if the writers are this fucking vapid. Then the campaign itself is over after 4 hours and all you have to show for it is whether or not you allowed fantasy faggot penises to touch in holy matrimony.

Currently playing through D:OS2 and it's ok. I skipped the first one so I don't know which game is better. I was told the old divinity games are great so I'll probably give those a shot after. Dragon Commander really left a shit taste in my mouth and I can't imagine what trash writing they'll include in Baldurs Gate which has already been pozzed to hell.

DOS2 is easy once you get good gear and skills, learn how the mechanics work because it's a lot different than the first. I played the second first and now I can't get into the first game because it's pretty clunky.

Sebille is best girl

>>16644171

Try Divinity II, it's pretty good though the retards on steam are giving it a negative because an old game doesn't work on windows 10 surprise fucking surprise.

there's one part D:OS2 in one of the end stages where the dead spirit of some woman is sad because her gay girlfriend is going to gay die. luckily you can remedy this by letting her gay girlfriend get executed and then devour her gay soul

If you're at the Nameless Isle you're pretty close to the end, but the last area is filled with annoying shit. The fucking little goblin toy fight is a pain until you figure out the obvious puzzle.

>Divine Divinity

Pretty fun game but couldn't get into it because I read there were so many quests that would break due to certain triggers (bugs, not intentional) so I was in a perpetual state of stress and kept checking a guide to avoid it which detracted from my enjoyment. Might pick it up again

>Divinity 2

I loved the beginning but once you got your dragon form it became pretty boring after getting to fly around for half an hour or so. Dragon gameplay and upgrading didn't feel engaging at all and rather mindless at that.

>Divinity: OS

Again enjoyed the start a lot more. After leaving the first big map the story lost its footing and it didn't really try to draw the player back in. NPC's and sidequests also became rather bare bones and uninteresting.

>Divinity: OS 2

Fixed a lot of my issues with the first one, more focus on the story and has kept a consistent quality so far. Gameplay is much better, it's sped up and feels more fluid.

But I don't like how little your followers interact outside of a reaction every now and then, they should engage the player unprompted to give them more character and remind you that they have a personality outside of reacting with a single sentence every now and then.

Modding scene is great, love the Odinblade's classes. The overhauls are fun improvements and I love the Umberblade class.

Anyone got mod suggestions for D:OS 2? Playing both a multiplayer campaign and solo a one when my co-op partner isn't available. Works out well since we've ended up playing as murder hobos after his many fuckups and he's also averse to challenge (so playing classic) which lets me have two very different experiences. On my solo one I'm playing tacticians difficulty and exploring the world in a slow and methodical fashion whilst doing my best to minmax and find as many secrets as possible, which he lacks the patience for.

i like the combat and character creation but i just cant be bothered to care about its "UR THE CHOOSEN WUN" story. i dont care about any of the characters and their stories. i dont care about the world and its lore. its a shame too because they seem to have put a lot of work into dialogue and voice acting but its alot of words and text that i just dont care about. its also only slightly pozzed, but pozzed enough to make me not care about its characters and world.

I like the world building (assisted by the other games) but I also don't care for the main plotline very much and the 'origin stories' take such a side role that I struggle to pay much attention to them.

Fane and Lohse's ones are somewhat interesting but again it feels like they play such a small part.

<Co-Op partner controlling Ifan talking with Fane as secondary character

<He's having a conversation with him, I'm listening in

<"Help anon, what should I pick?"

<"Just go for what ever you want to"

>He ends up sticking his tongue down Fane's jaw

<"I-I just didn't want to get negative reputation with him, I don't know how that happened!"

>Fane didn't end up liking him more as a result

This was the second time he managed to put himself into a gay scenario. The poz is worth all the laughs it is giving me.

Getting money wasn't too difficult in Fort Joy when I played. One character was built as an uber-jew with points in speech and barter for optimal shop prices, and more money by selling things. Another character was a sneaky thief who would pickpocket every useless npc possible in fort joy for items to give to the new to sell for loads of gold. After all of this, we would go on crusades regularly to kill all possible useless town NPCs we came across for even more gold.

By the end of Fort Joy, we had a total of 30k in the bank. By the end of Driftwood, 100k. Money was never an issue.

Pic related. It's my favorite merchant. Be sure to have him like you and give him tons of shekels.

>OS1 being easy and OS2 being hard

I had the opposite experience. Original Sin 1 was like banging my head against a wall. I was only able to get some experience, level up, and start progressing through the game by using grenades as a crutch. I had a lot of trouble, I couldn't even find the companions when I first played, thank god they gave you two inquisitors or I would have been double fucked.

Original Sin 2 on the other hand felt really easy. Once you get your head around the armour system the game becomes piss easy. Even very difficult enemies can be overcome without much trouble with careful positioning and effective use of disabling spells. It's also very easy to collect all the companions you want. The hardest part of the early game was figuring out how to escape the prison area of the fort, but even that is super easy once you know what you're doing. The crafting system is also very strong, making lots of specialised arrows is very cheap and very very effective. The game becomes even more of a cakewalk once you get a couple of levels under your belt. You get to a point pretty quickly where you practically steamroll through the content so long as you take your time in the early game and make sure you soak up all the XP you can.

All you have to do with merchants is just donate 1000g to them then their prices decrease by 50% and you sell items for 50% more just by maxing out their attitude towards you. Over time it pays off huge dividends as you periodically come back offload all the gear you collected that you don't need.

So far I think the best set up is Wizard Lizard, Rogue Skeleton, and Ranger Elf.

Which do you guys think would make a better warrior class as a forth party member, Human or Dwarf?

This. DOS2 becomes trivial once you understand how to make money. DOS1 remains pretty hard all throughout. Until you realize you can make a team of Aerothurges, have your whole party become stun immune, and stun lock 99.9% of the mobs in the game.

I played a few hours of Divinity: Original Sin and it's pretty fun but something about not being able to grind for xp bothers me. It's not like the game is hard enough to need to grind, but something autistic in me doesn't like that the world doesn't have infinite gold and monsters makes it feel flat. I also don't like how there's basically only one city.

Stealing is still massively profitable you just have to learn how to do it right as its a bit harder and overall different than in os1.

>there is not much to steal anyways at Fort Joy. And skill books are really expensive

Steal the books then fam. Also there are a number of useful skill books that are crafted but the game never tells you this or gives you a recipe for most of them so just look them up.

I do agree with you that the start is quite rough if you don't know what you're doing since everyone has more armor and better skills, including positioning skills, than you. But the key is to take every battle strategically, don't just wade in, split up your party and plan you angles of attack. I actually hated the armor system at first but now I still fucking hate it OS1 had a much better system. I mean HP is almost completely irrelevant either you have armor or you're stunlocked until you die and its made even worse by the fact that seemingly every single encounter has enemies with powerful status abilities such as charm. I also dislike that crafting for the most part is useless now even though good gear is MORE important than ever, it just forces you to constantly grind merchants for the randomly generated gear you need.

>>16644171

Wow way to miss the fucking point.

>You're here fighting a fucking war trying to reunite all the kingdoms and these 2 stupid cunts are sitting here crying about faggot shit

Yeah its almost like this is a political simulator or something, weird. Also how the fuck can you not enjoy being a fuck as huge dragon with a jetpack that goes around destroying armies and elf dwarf skeleton pussy. You sound like a tremendous boy molesting fruit, you prancing lala homo man.

Divine Divinity is really good, beyond divinity is kinda meh tho. Probably skip Divinity II if you don't like the dragon stuff. Also OS1 is better in almost every way than 2 including poz.

Elf is really good for casters and anyone who needs to use a lot of skills because of the bonus ap from sacrifice. Human is best for straight damage because of the crit. Skellys in general are a liability because healing spells deal massive damage so unless you have a specific reason for needing poison/deathfog immunity its better to go human/elf.

To iterate on this: you can only steal from a merchant once. So you're better off trying to find a +thievery item or two and getting All Skilled Up on your thief before you start robbing merchants. Also, merchants will have significantly more money later on, as well as more books and better gear. You'll find unique pieces with +thievery skill in chapter 2, make sure to keep it and to use it. The scaling above lvl 5 thievery is crazy, so make sure you don't just rob the act 2 merchants blind as soon as you get there. Next is Bartering, as >>16651479 said, give money to merchants you'll be buying from frequently, as the returns will far outstrip the investment. You'll want to have a Human be your trader since they have a bonus for it. Make sure to keep some +bartering gear for happy merchant transactions. Finally there's Lucky Charm, which greatly increases BOTH the amount AND the quality of loot you get. Max it out on a character and make sure that character is always wearing as much Lucky Charm gear as possible.

Just make sure you upgrade your gear frequently. Every level you gain multiplies the amount of stats enemies and gear has, with major milestones at like lvl 8-13-15-18 or somesuch. Once you reach level 18, you'll want to be shopping every time you get back to town.

5a30b2  No.16653945

>>16653679

>you can only steal from a merchant once

Not quite. You can only steal from a merchant once PER CHARACTER. And since you get free unlimited respecs starting chapter two that means you can rob most merchants 4 times getting anywhere from 20k to 100k+ per merchant depending on how patient you are.

Been playing other stuff meanwhile too, but then I can say I exited Fort Joy for good (I explored most of it, and I discovered all the ways to exit it, but only I went out for good after doing quests and stuff). Now in the Marsh now. Its just that the armor mechanics and the harder battles area liability. But oh well, I will deal with it.
