I can understand the argument, but it *is* a fun game. Take your favorite FF characters and throw up against challenges because reasons. The story is cute and fun and the game hands out enough free stuff and in-game currency that whaling is never necessary unless you're obsessed with having everything for a character from a banner. If someone is addicted to the gacha in a game, then that's their weakness, especially in a game that's as generous with free shit as this one.

People in JP are bringing out ancient SSB's with en-element just to deal with Ramuh and Titan bullshit. I've seen people talking about getting all of Bartz' en-element BSB's so he'll be viable with his Awakening and/or USB1. Hell, I still use Rinoa's en-earth SSB because I have no source of en-earth for her against King B. Having said that, this fest isn't going to see any major jumps in power that haven't already been in place for a few months. I don't even think the Synchro stuff that JP recently got will be a major power jump, at least not on the level ultra's and AASB's were.

A game that's significantly better in everyway. FFRK has turned based combat that's stripped down to toddler levels. The only thing that matters is your equipment. That is, you need to have good enough equipment to beat the levels. That includes the abilities you equip. These require a combination of gacha shit(for your limit breaks and weapons) and navigating the purposefully obtuse crafting system.

The game, just like most gatcha "rpg", is a "rpg" but without anything that makes up a rpg except for grinding and turn based combat.

1, yes. 2, mostly. 3? The decline was there, and the poz firmly established, complete with it's own loot boxes for the multiplayer portion. Andromeda was a dumpster fire.

You can argue about the turn-based system what turn-based system isn't "toddler level" by default of being a turn-based system anyway? Something with multi-character skill interactions perhaps, but you can emulate that manually in this game as you can in so many others, but the crafting system is about as simple as can be. Collect resources, upgrade item/abilities. Don't have a resource for something? The game tells you where to go farm it, and the baseline game both realm dungeons and weekly event dungeons shower resources on the player. Furthermore, whenever a new resource like motes is unlocked, the game quite clearly tells you where to go and what to do with those motes. If someone has a problem understanding the crafting/upgrade system in this game it's not because of a lack of information, it's that they're just stupid.

As for gear/levels, yes, that's part of what you do in an RPG. Or really any game with some kind of character progression system. You start weak, but acquire more levels and stronger items and use those stronger things and higher character levels to beat stronger enemies. If that isn't to your liking, then maybe Gone Home would be more your speed anon?

If you ignore all that story stuff the game has, sure. You may not like the story it has. You might think it's corny or cheesy or just outright stupid and hamfisted or whatever, but you can't deny it has a story, and you can't deny that they actually give a damn about it because the story is updated regularly. Furthermore, your progression in the story is not tied to your personal progression outside of the story in any way. This means you can be a completely raw newbie with 0 gacha gear and do just as well in any given part of the story as a day 1 veteran with hundreds of top-tier items available.

The more I read your posts, the more I can understand why you like the shit pile. Try Final Fantasy Tactics or Disgaea or Neverwinter Nights.

The crafting system isn't obtuse because it's complex, it's because it's an intentionally inconvenient system that severs only to slow down your progress by making you check the crafting mats of everything single piece of shit you need to craft and go grind that level. The crafting system doesn't serve the gameplay at all. It only serves the grind.

I know the game has a god damn story. It's irrelevant because you don't participate in it at all.

Awakenings are a massive power boost. With a five hit ability and a chain, you have a damage potential of 200k/turn, slap some quickcast in there and bosses are melting. Synchros are also busted, Lightning's gives her a 10hit chase and a free ATB refill, allowing her to wombo combo the new lightning/wind power chain for 2 hits, followed by a 3 hit chase, a free ATB refill, then 5 hits from celerity 6*, then a 10 hit chase, every 1.5 seconds. Thats 20 hits every turn, not counting any double casts.

Cloud synchro gives him a 30% damage boost to the first combo and slaps an OSB to his second combo. Its all busted, powercreep is going off the rails at the JP fest.

6* magicite are basically triple awakening dps, awakening + usb healer, chain + glint/awakening dps support.

Used to play when it launched and 3-4 months after. I got Seph and some other stuff as well as Tidus reward. Problem with the game is that it turns into a glorified idle game where you spam daily dungeons for the mat that boost your stats (or your weapon stats) It was also way too easy to hack last time i played and unlike other gacha games there is no PvP or coop content. Hell there is not even guilds or anything. How is the game today?

The weapon upgrade mats you're talking about are basically free now, I haven't thought about them in years. There's online coop, you play with three other players, everyone gets to bring 1 front row and 1 back row character. Idling top level content doesn't exist 99% of the time. Theres a new auto feature that allows your abilities or breaks to be used, but the AI is retarded, so many players can't utilize it unless they are so overpowered that the fight was trivial to begin with. Top level fights are very challenging with at least 2-3 mechanics you need to take into account and build a team around.

The game also streamlined early game content so players can reach end game more quickly. Some new players report reaching the second highest tier of difficulty after a month of playing.

The f'd thing is that she's a pretty good character in FFRK. Has an amazing support USB and Glint combo that basically allows her to solo buff a team with almost everything they would need by turn 3. Add in her LM2 and and w-cast black magic LMR and she's probably the third best pure support character next to Onion Knight and Tyro the game's jack-of-all-trades PC stand-in and arguably the best support DPS character you can get.

As >>16635954 noted it's changed quite a bit. Much easier to advance into the middle and end-game stuff. They introduced the Acolyte Archives, which are basically curated 3-pulls of a set group of soul breaks ranging from Uniques, to Supers and then ending with Bursts. There are nine "volumes" of tasks to complete, and completing a volume gets you the free 3-pull (with one guaranteed 5-star) and then a selection from the list of soul breaks for that book you can pick yourself. So you're guaranteed at least 2 soul breaks from each list, many of which see use for quite some time, either directly as a soul break or indirectly for the stat boost from the relic itself.

The Record Dungeons offer unique rewards and an original story for the game. They don't cost any stam to play and you can get orbs, mithril, and another resource called Crystal Water that can directly enhance stats for your characters to help give you an edge. The progression for the Record Dungeons is also separate from the rest of the game. You generally fight the dungeons with a set group possibly with a few extra characters to choose from and maybe swap in if need be related to the story at the moment, with set skills and gear provided for you. It becomes a bit of a puzzle game at that point, trying to figure out how to balance your ability usage against the damage the boss puts out, maybe swapping in another character for the skills they have and what not. The story itself is fun for what it is. It won't win any awards, but you can tell the dev team isn't just phoning it in.

Other than that, resources tend to rain down pretty frequently. Even mithril is abundant enough that a casual player who just clears weekly events/multiplayer raids and does the odd realm dungeon will get about 200 mithril a month, which is enough for an 11-pull on a banner every week. Also worth noting is that a few years back they introduced what's known as "G5" meaning every time an 11-pull is done on a banner, at least one of those 11 is guaranteed to be a 5-star. So no matter what, you'll get at least something of value. Every 3 months they also have their Luck of the Realms draw, where you do 5 mithril for a 3-pull on banners specific to each realm, with a guaranteed 5-star minimum result. It's generally an amazing deal since you get at least 17 relics for a total of 85 mithril. The only reason you'd want to skip on those banners is if you've got a sub-30 on the D??? neo torment and don't need any elemental tech for a 5-star magicite.

I can't say much for Opera Omnia, but I've heard good things. Gacha is a bit worse compared to FFRK, but the game itself is fun. FFRK tends to be pretty generous, as most of the game can be beaten with either the free stuff provided or by smart saving of in-game currency to use on specific banners.
