Anyone else play this? Been playing it since it launched a little over 4 years ago.
>What is it?
Gacha shit mobile game. But a fun gacha shit mobile, done with FF6-style spritework but with better animations think Octopath, but lower quality. The team that works on it also has quite a few dedicated fan boys of the various FF games, because there are quite a lot of very obscure references one example is how you can use a special late-game attribute increasing sphere on Marcus in order to unlock another special attribute increasing sphere on Eiko. The gacha itself is also one of the better ones; you're guaranteed at least a 5-star current "best" items are mostly 6-star, but some are still 5-star item with each pull of 11 items on a banner, with some exceptions like with the Luck of the Realms portion of the summer fest going on now.
>How's it play?
Breddy gud for a mobile game. Sometimes better to play it via an Android emulator because some of the end-game stuff is actually pretty intense, but outside of the 5-star magicite fights and the Neo Torments or Dream dungeons, most stuff can be auto-battled through pretty easily.
Character's aren't limited in this game; you can acquire every character eventually exception of Kingdom Hearts characters because fuck Disney and it includes everything from the 15 mainline Final Fantasy's to characters from Beyond, Type-0 and Tactics.
You also have the Loli and Shota PC stand-ins, named Elarra and Tyro, who form the basis of the story for the game.
>The fuck kinda mobile game has a story?
The one, apparently. It's not bad for what it is; Tyro is a student at the Royal Archives and his job is to go into these magical paintings that contain the stories of heroism from each of the different FF's and make sure that the magic in them is preserved. Elarra helps him once you unlock her as a character and there's a unique little story to the game that basically has Elarra as the newbie helping out Tyro the veteran maintain all the paintings. It leads to some existential mindfuck since Tyro, as the lead acolyte, knows how all these stories end, so you get stuff like Elarra innocently saying how thrilled she is that Rosa has been saved and Kain is no longer under mind control while Tyro just sits there going "oh yeah, everything sure came up roses."
The game also has some pretty nice remixes of a variety of FF music.
>You said "end-game" before. Is that whale-only territory?
Well, sometimes. The bleeding edge shit is, but most of the game can be played and enjoyed without touching the bleeding edge stuff, and even then there are people who specialize in taking down hard content using bare-minimum approaches. Plus the game itself is very generous with both in-game gacha currency and free or reduced-cost pulls for various banners, especially during special events.
>Are you a shill?
No way faggot, I'm doing this for free. I just like this game a lot. It's not as cancerous with it's power creep and gacha as FFBE or Mobius are, and the challenge provided by special bosses and the end-game shit is actually pretty fun for the most part. People are still finding uses for tech that was released 2-3 years ago against today's content, you can acquire almost every character in game eventually instead of being limited, and in some circumstances you don't even need good soul breaks on a character to get value out of them.
>The fuck is a soul break?
That's the gacha part. You pull on banners for items. 5 and 6-star items give you soul breaks or sometimes legend materia for specific characters. These are the "super moves" you build up to in a fight that grant all kinds of powerful bonuses. There are also abilities that can be crafted and used, and many soul breaks interact with abilities in such a way that they create a strong synergy between the two that's key to beating the more challenging parts of the game.
Or you could luck out with Cloud USB1 and Zach chain and just fuck most things over that way.
>But are you a shill?
I ain't getting paid for this shit, and they don't have any kind of friend referral crap so I won't be leaving any code for anyone to use. I just want to talk about this game with anons instead of the residents plebbit or gamefags.
