Specifically Exapunks if you have it but all his games are comfy and can be discussed.

>Having a solution with optimal qualities in all categories

Feels good. Post your programs.

As for those that don't know

WHAT THE FUCK IS IT?

Exapunks is zachtronic's newest game where you write code in shitty 80's style language that uses GOTO statements. Thing is, it is easy to learn for even non-programmers and as a codefag myself I find it incredibly enjoyable. Basically an AI hires you to hack shit in exchange for drugs that you need to not turn into a dysfunctional computer. You do this with little expendable robots called EXA's that you put your shitty program language into and they do it, simple as that.

I'll post the first "Zine" which relays some story information and knowledge. It was too big to fit up mark's asshole on file upload so here's a mega: https://mega.nz/#!bWxDCSwC!Rz0CeKRrO83ff-6rZ9NjIat4-0y8sw20BIDfmlNsFuw

There's a GOG version of it so it shouldn't be too hard for you to pirate if you don't have it. I'm not spoon feeding you

wait am I not writing autistic assembly and instead writing in some C-like autism?

More or less, yes. Here's my code for the level in the OP. The X register is a normal variable, the T register can store data like the X register except that when you run a test like it gets overwritten with a boolean. F is used when you're holding a file. M is the share variable for sharing data between EXAs.

Technically his newest release is the Zach-Like compilation, in which I've been playing KOHCTPYKTOP all afternoon. I've only made it about thirty pages into the book itself, but it does paint a picture of a young man with an anarchic perspective towards modern gaming.

I didn't realize they'd implemented a gif maker in Exapunks, that's nice to see, it's certainly more convenient than having to record MP4s on release. I still haven't returned to finish the bonus campaign, I think I still have 3-4 puzzles there, and a few unfinished Redshift games.

this is more a mix of assembly and basic (or basic that's powerful like c64 basic) as far as I can tell.

>Redshift game

The only thing I did with that was make one that displays

NIGS R GAY

traversing across the screen which then displays L-O-L after the previous text disappears; the whole thing is screeching square waves the entire time.

I'm more familiar with newer generation languages like SQL, Python, and a bit of C (everyone needs some C), so I'll take your word for it.

From the looks of the source code, you don't have functions and you have to lay out subroutines and use gotos like a real caveman (to be fair calling functions in C and whatever is just a 'safe' goto).

SQL is not really new, it's quite old, almost as old or older as C but not as old as assembly and basic. SQL is more closer to the syntax of assembly or basic.

On an unrelated note: If you ever want to choose a scripting language, look at Guile (or just dialects of LISP), minimal syntax because ((())) is all you need.

I really like the font type of that hackerman

can anyone make my name Analockman like that font ?

>>16630166

I always thought about picking up lisp but never had a particular need for it. Usually python fulfills my scripting needs but it's always good to add another programming language to the box of ones i've touched on.

If you're not familiar, they came up with TIS-100 while trying to build a Z80-based computer for fun, and despite the fact that Exapunks hypothetically takes place in 1995(?) that assembly syntax isn't hugely changed. Shenzhen did something cool with its conditionals, but it was pretty similar as well.

I had an unfinished version of Pong that was functional except for the second player's AI, and a basic program to randomly generate terrain for a planned port of Lunar Lander that never came together.

I had half a notion to make Excitebike after making the D-pad x axis constantly feed into #SQR0; when = 1 it makes a sound like the bike engines.

the NES pad is different to something like a joystick on a c64 (there's no x-axis on the NES controllers), there's an entire video about it

I don't want to hijack the thread, but has anyone played Конструктор and can provide some advice? As someone who was never required to take any electrical engineering courses, some of the later puzzles seem pretty intimidating, I heard that some outside knowledge can be helpful in the campaign.

Nice. They still let you turn on either "World Record" or "Top Percentile" on the histograms, right? Are you close to that?

ee4a76  No.16645170

>>16645037

It doesn't seem like you can select world record or anything like that, no. I'd like to think my solution is one of the faster ones, though.
