The game was directed by the artist of Okami and it's based on the Dead Sea Scrolls. The game has almost no UI to speak of, and the controls are pretty simple, but deeper than they seem at first glance. It's like a slower Devil May Cry with only two buttons, but combos change depending on the timing between presses. There's health, but it's represented by clothing. If a character starts losing clothing, they're losing health. You're Enoch, trying to capture the angels that left Heaven so God can punish them. Each angel has their own sorta art style, as well. Lucifel is a dick. A genuine dick.

It's a neat game, but takes a fair bit of getting used to. Really fucking trippy as well. Game also has native dual audio, but the English dub is surprisingly solid (shame Ignition failed to do either a year prior with their handling of ARF).

Still surprises me it got a sequel of sorts, though I'm not sure if the game itself is really much good, and even if it was in Japan, NISA poached it for western release because of course they did.

I played El Shaddai for the style alone and yes, it's a really bad game with psychedelic graphics. But they're not that good either, you've pretty much seen everything by the first level.

There's some guy that does custom OST extensions that does similar in his descriptions, but he keeps it a lot briefer as just a simple "giving thanks" rather than trying to covert others, and spends more time talking about the particular track or game in question.

Don't emulate the DC version it's 30fps, and outside of Demul which is anything but light it's not emulated properly (multiple transparency and audio mixing issue)

If you don't care too much about small details the PC version is good enough, it's missing a few audio effects / audio mixing details, the old level select menu, and a few minute details like the 3rd form having all shots coming from the center instead of distributed along the skeleton of the model.

If you really must emulate use the PS2 US version with that patch pasted in a file called A33748AA.pnach

It's 60fps and has the least audio issues outside of the DC version (really just the beat when you select a level and a weird beeping in very first part of the first level are actually really noticeable)

I loved MDK's style. Somehow, the way they their models are shaped reminds me of Free Radical Design's TimeSplitters and Second Sight (or some golden-era Monolith games like The Operative: No One Lives Forever)…

Gravity Bone, maybe? It's free, short, sort of interesting but not too much. I think the devs made a bunch of commercial games with that style afterward, not sure what they're worth, or how pozzed they are.

They did really remove audio effects but the audio mixing between version has a few difference that you might or might not notice, but infinite has more than the other version that I can notice

The most noticeable bit is what plays after you select an area, DC has a nice complex echo effect, PS2 doesn't and has just every beat at the same volume, x360 tries to reproduce the old effect and infinite just gave up entirely

Never touched the x360 version because I don't have the console and I don't think it emulates well

Judging by a few videos and forum posts, it's fairly close to being the DC version in HD 60fps but it does have a few errors in audio here and there

It's hardly even beautiful, but the overall design I like very much, and it does its job extremely well. Also, where the fuck are all the good screenshots of this game.
