I hate to break it to you, but most companies here on the East Coast caught on to cord cutters and started charging out the fucking ass for just internet packages. THEN, the mobile companies followed with hard caps on hotspot functions and personal hotspots.
You can cut all the cords you want, but you're still going to be tethered to a package if you don't want to be have a usage cap. Don't even get me started on the streaming companies all buying the rights to shit you want to watch so you need multiple services or a good piracy solution to find what you actually want to watch.

I was going to buy FFXI but my rig died last night, so it's in the shop. Hoping to God it's just the PSU. Nothing looks burnt and I didn't smell ozone, so I'm trying be hopeful. It died right in the middle of an extremely dysphoric acid trip when I tried to put some comforting entertainment on, so that was excellent.
I'd fix it myself, but I didn't build the thing and I've only replaced minor stuff such as the GPU and some RAM. I just don't trust myself. The PSU was on it's way out though, I just hope the whole thing isn't fried.

It's fucking infuriating because so few companies release outside of steam for PC. If we're lucky, ideally, we get a GOG release (I know they're pozzed but at least you can play their shit without a client). I remember back when X-COM: Enemy Unknown came out and I bought it (which I regret, honestly) on disc, but got home and realized it was just a fucking steam key in a box basically. It just unlocked a copy for me to download and install through steam, even though I should have gotten the entire game right there on physical media.
The problem only gets worse when shit like the Epic store get introduced, and rather than be a real competitor, they're just Steam but with different exclusives. Neither should be fucking paying companies out for exclusivity, and they should both be competing to sell games for better prices and provide better services. Instead it's just two flavours of DRM/bloatware with prices hiked up through the roof because where the fuck else are you gonna buy it, goyim?
