Switch Mini will be released with Animal Crossing in March. My guess is that it will have it's own separate dock and you can still connect controllers via bluetooth. You need bluetooth to transfer from Pokémon Go to Let's Go.

From what I've read, Switch games don't even hit 1080p (or 60fps) docked. So a Pro version that runs at least 4x better is highly unlikely. Whether or not it has 4k "support", aka video playback/ability to run super non-demanding games, is a different story.

During that time people were still making a transition from analog to digital, so 480p output was irrelevant in crt TVs, whereas it made a huge difference in widescreen digital TVs.

There is no huge nor needed transition in technology currently and most people have 720p/1080p monitors/TVs still, and in those the difference in 4K is irrelevant. Even in 4K TVs the different is barely noticeable.

Maybe when the meme gets pushed even further and everyone gets 4K displays it will be viable, but right now it's only pushing hardware that barely can handle 1080p at 60fps.

Which most people are not willing to, specially if 1080p is serviceable and can easily run at 60fps in relatively old cards.

Hope the pro bare minimum is 720p @ 60 FPS handheld with no dynamic resolution scaling necessary. Dock can be full 1080p upscaled to 4k, but still native 1080p. 1080p still has time to look good with enough polish. That said higher framerate is Nintendo's priority. More power means more PC ports at least.

Now another wishlist of Switch Pro would be N64 games in VR. Yes I want N64 VR games. Also Gamecube/Wii emulation. I think Skyward Sword can get an HD rerelease since motion plus is build into the joycon. Skyward Sword can even use BotW's engine with tweaked physics but keep the level design in tact. The render engine in Skyward Sword was used in Xenoblade. People want a Xenoblade X port. Fuck that. I'll have Xenoblade Chronicles 1S with dual audio, a remastered cyber-orchestral soundtrack. As for XCX… I say we'll get Xenoblade Chronicles Online instead as a F2P* game using the PSO2 model rather than the skinnerbox.

I imagined what I do to make XCO fun. I will give every player twin AI humanoid companions who can combine into a hoverbike or a mecha exoskeleton. The twin blades are as customizeable as the driver with moves and gear.

Nintendo has always forged it's own path when it comes to tech which has always come at the cost of resolution. I believe they wanted to follow in Sony's footsteps once by making it so that the Wii could play DVDs, but they cut the feature due to the Wii getting too hot as well as laser damage. If Nintendo wanted to compete with high resolution graphics, they would produce some kind of power docking station sold separately that allowed for higher resolution and better framerates. I'm not sure if the current version of the Switch could do that, but if not then they'd release a New Switch XL™ that does.

I'd rather prefer an actual handheld version of the Switch (slightly smaller size, no separate joycons, actual d-pad) but there is still the issue of the severe lack of games that pick my interest to make me buy one. Like the games tend to be either available on Vita or PS4 either way.

This. Xbone X is so useless by now that Rage 2 was barely 1080p60fps. In the same way, all that talk of 8k120fps on the Scarlett's gonna go away within a week of launch and you won't see much past 4k30fps, unless on select games or pixelshit.

They could implement 4k output into the Switch, but it would either be upscaled and look worse, or be such a leap from the regular Switch that games couldn't support both.

Switch has been selling faster than either Xbone or PS4 and didn't need 1080p. Why would they implement more expensive hardware for a higher resolution when it would be a failing strategy to do so? Also, I'd rather there be a consistent frame rate in Splatoon than 1080p or 4k graphics. Technical graphics have been strangling the industry for generations now, completely killing creativity and originality. Strong art direction is much more impactful over resolution.

I certainly hope not, I'd rather Ninty focus on improving docked and undocked performance immensely rather than adding support for a resolution that, in my opinion still has a few years off till it really catches on. If 4k is as much of an improvement over 2k as 2k was over 480p, I'm sure you'll have no problem with the consumer assfucking you'll receive when you have to upgrade to 8k and later 16k, which will surely reorpsent consistent, linear improvements every generation with no diminishing returns related to the human eye's angular resolution whatsoever.

They are more likely to prepare a sucessor for the switch at this point. If they don't announce a revision by the end of the year, there will probably not be one.
