I picked up Awakening for 15 bucks and found it okay, but not substantially greater than what I had played before, being the the Radiant series and GBA fire emblem. Fates, however, sold the most out of any Fire Emblem game, so its influence will be what survives, not GBA and Radiant Fire Emblem. Plus, the Switch is the trendy and hot gaming device, unlike the 3ds in 2012, so this will receive much more publicity than any previous games.

I don't mind this, having to manage everybody's relationship meter was a hassle in Awakening and the main reason I dropped the game. I want to play a turn based tactics game, not a "manage all these different bars" game. Having to think about who needs experience and who needs more relationship points before making even the smallest decisions was so tedious.

Which Fire Emblem games are worth playing? I've only ever played the two GBA games that got released in English, Path of Radiance, and the DS remake of Shadow Dragon.

I'd say the SNES era in general; though 3/4 both are kinda, weirdly made map wise; so if you don't like them then you should probably skip them since the maps don't really change dramatically.
