Depends on what your problem with the person is. Simple micspam is obviously easily fixed with a mute. If it's something that impacts gameplay like hacking then obviously muting isn't going to solve that.

If it's more "I don't like what he's saying" or "he's pissing me off". Muting can honestly seem like a pretty pathetic way of addressing really. It's a bit like blocking people on twitter.

It is the perfect solution to the problem. If you don't like what someone says, you don't have to listen to him. It's the advantage of being in a multiplayer game at home over interacting with someone in real life, and the correct way to address the problem. That's an interesting theory. I always wondered why nobody ever used the mute menu in cs source when even something as simple as a mic spammer would come in.
