I love this game

It takes me back to the early 2000's and the excitement of a new millennium. Too bad what that millennium turned out to be.

Lots. Pretty much all the ones I've played with my cousin in our childhoods (I don't talk with him anymore…). This one is particularly meaningful though:

- Beautiful intro song! Can listen for hours.

- Characters you can easily attach yourself to. Game has a pretty deep story, with cutscenes and stuff. There is even a story mode where every character fights his "enemy" at the end (and you can see the cutscenes then). I liked Yoko the most.

- The characters use fucking weapons! A rarity in fighting games it seems. Love the locations too - airport, rooftop…

In the end it comes down to the social aspect with my cousin though. All our failed tries to execute the strongest throws…Nostalgia is a double-edged sword, truly.

Thanks for the thread, OP.

Me and my female cousin use to play 3 games together.

>sonic adventure 2

We were the proud father and mother of an angel chao named Victoria. We loved taking care of her and raising her when we got back from school.

>harvest moon a wonderful life

We took turns in raising the crops and we both agreed to marry Celia and that Muffy was a total slut. Every time we walked past Muffy in town, we made hooker jokes about her.

>smash bros melee

We use to roleplay as the character and come up with different adventures. She always picked Sheik and I always picked Link. By roleplay, I really do mean roleplay. We got into character and played house in the hyrule level. Sometimes we went on vacation to other places, like the mushroom kingdom.

Good times. Yes, it was all sort of faggoty in hindsight, but that was the childhood I spent with my cousin. We're still close pals, even to this day.

I'm only comfortable revealing all of these to you because fuck it, I'm anonymous and I'll never be doxxed here. I'll never be embarrassed because you faggots won't ever learn my real name.

I've never done a whole lot of research on this. But did a PC version of this game ever come out? My older brother back in that time got to participate in a Wizards of The Coast focus group (we live near their headquarters). And what he got to test was a PC version of the Pokemon trading card game. He even got to bring a copy of the game home and play it on are home computer, which is how I got to play it pretty extensively for the week or two we had it. I can't really find any info about a PC version of the game ever releasing though.

Actually looking into it a little bit more. The game we played might have been a cd-rom that only came inside certain starting decks of the card game in the late 90s. That's probably why I could never find it on stores shelves back then. And why searching Pokemon PC trading card game doesn't really come up with a whole lot.

I remember I used to go to my neighbor's house just to play Sonic Adventure while she watched. She always liked watching the Chao Races, so I did my best to raise Chao in between levels and pretend that it was part of the story to keep her engaged. She adored backseat gaming whenever I spent time raising Chao on her Dreamcast. Sometimes she'd call me just for advice on raising Chao so she could race in her spare time. Looking back on it, it was kind of cute. Both SA and SA2 give me flashbacks of this friendship founded on raising weird gelatinous substitutes for children. It's a real shame we moved away while growing up. Things were innocent back then.

I guess I have one? Since this topic seems to be about games you played with people that meant something to you, I do have one experience where I guided my friend through Silent Hill 3. At first, it was just on the phone. She'd relay information about what was going on, and then I'd tell her what to do, etc. Later on, I would be at her place and play for her, picking up all the items and whatnot along the way.

Man, do I. Even to this day I value that one friendship with her. It was truly the "girl next door" story, but we moved away before romance became a thing in our childhood lives. Every day we'd ride bikes, play Sonic games, or sneak on neighbor's property just to say we did. "No Trespassing" was a joke to us. There were other kids in the neighborhood too, but they didn't play games like we did. Kid down the street was playing Midnight Club, we were raising Chao. I once got in a fight with a kid outside the cul-de-sac about Destroy All Humans, and she had my back. First time I ever got a black eye, and despite losing the fight, she made me feel like a winner. Just because she stood by me.

Looking back on it, I can't believe I built such a bond over a Sonic game. I didn't even know about Sonic until meeting her, and now I hope Chao Gardens will make a beautiful return just so I can relive those high points of my childhood. I remember us being naive, considering making a YouTube channel dedicated to raising Chao before YouTube took off. We spent time in her attic drawing pictures and filming flow charts to try and help other people like how I had helped her in the beginning.

Fuck, now I feel like playing Sonic Adventure,

I used to put on Rogue Squadron and put on the music player while reading the EU books as a teen. Whenever the scene in the book changed I would find appropriate music. So Luke's chapters had his theme in the background, Imperial scenes had the march, battle scenes would get something like Hoth or Endor depending on the setting.

File: c0192de66529c95⋯.gif (170.04 KB, 942x592, 471:296, clonk.gif)

Clonk Planet's a real-time strategy game of sorts, in the form of a 2D platformer. Kind of wonky control system until you get used to it, as most actions, like walking or digging have to be manually stopped. Beyond that quirk, you are rather limited in making characters do things without active control or intervention.

With the sheer amount of customization and modding involved, it has sort of that Warcraft 3 custom maps vibe, mixed with Stranded 2 and Terraria.

Collectan shit, minan shit with explosives, buildan shit, fightan shit, zauberan shit, accidentally droppan shit down your mineshaft where the janky physics makes it plow through most of your dudes and carries them along, gaining ludicrous speed and climbing any vertical walls as horizontal movement slowly gets translated into vertical movement.

I think Clonk Rage is the latest iteration on the game, but it's still more than a decade old. The prerendered 3D sprite thing really doesn't do it for me, but the gameplay hasn't changed much at all.

Me too, I still remember fondly when I played this with my sister (Clavete) and my little cousin (Yuko). I played as a Liltie and had a blast. The soundtrack and art direction was top notch, and the gameplay while simple was really fun,

To contribute to the topic, and seeing how many of my beloved games have been poster, I think I'll contribute with pic related. Remember playing it when I was younger, being unsettled by the eerie atmosphere and intimidated by the difficulty and the limited saves, yet at the same time fascinated on how unique it as. It wasn't until a couple of years ago that I decided to give it another try because of what some anon said about it and finally beat it. It is unique thing for sure, and I find its design and how it combines gameplay and narrative fascinating, while having a lot of heart. I will hold it always as an example of good narrative in videogames, not because it writing is great, as it is actually simple and nothing to write home about, but how the gameplay reinforces the narrative and viceversa, while still being one of the most fun and strategic JRPGs I have played. The fact that it was responsible for the death of the Breath of Fire saga is hearth-breaking for so many reasons.

sounds like you were resetting the game… the game has random, it is just that the order of the cards and the result of coin flips is determined before you enter a match (I think it happens when you enter a room), if you save and go in a match and reset and go in the match against the same opponent you'll see the same cards, but if you lose and go again, OR if you reset and go out of the room and go in again the card order will be different.

I have moved house 10 times in my life and I'm barely twice that number in age.

When moving out of a house that I loved at the age of 14, I was so heartbroken about it that I sat down in a corner and played the Pokemon TCG until the moving truck was fully loaded. I've replayed the game every time that I've been forced to move since.

You're an adult now, why not settle down in a nice apartment somewhere

Same. I work a PT retail job, but am only able to afford it because I rent from family. But because rent is so low, I can save up a ton of money.
