you could buy a game for $50, try it, and if you don't like it, resell it for $30 or $40. if i bought tropical freeze digitally, i would have been shit out of luck. if it's a home console, you have plenty of space for discs. if it's a switch, nigger do you really not have space for cartridges? they're tiny.

Four likely reasons.
>Too lazy to go out looking for a physical copy/don't have any stores with it around, and don't feel like ordering one online for whatever reason either.
>It was marked down (impulse buying) or cheaper as an official option than physical (can be the case with older games).
>Don't feel they have room for actual copies where they live.
>Are wanting to maintain a "normal" image and don't want shelves of games they like but that people they know will shit on them for.
That's assuming it's a game with both formats as an option, and in any case, they're probably averse to pirating. Really though, if you'd think about the question a bit, it's not like the answers are the sort you should feel a need to actually ask it.
What's dumber is how companies are apt to keep digital games full price for so fucking long after release, long after the preowned copies have gone down in value. Unless it's just to make sale prices stand out all the more, it seems retarded that they don't see a need to compete. Surely there's not that many people still dropping $50-60 years after a game's come out when a physical copy might be $10-20 by then.

So I don't lose all my fucking games when some nigger steals my bag.
I can just download them again later when I get to a new console to replace the one that dirty fucking nigger stole from me.
And as far as I'm concerned, I paid once on one platform, I'm going to pirate it and emulate it on every fucking thing else, but I will at least throw some dollars to the companies that still make games I like because otherwise all that's left is indie-shit propped up by pozzed government funding as an art project.

For what, PC games? I'm pretty sure at launch, at least for consoles/handhelds, digital versions are the same price as physical would be, unless it's a really late gen release (but even physicals for those tend to be reduced in price as well). The whole "it's the game you're paying the $40/60 for, not the physical parts" logic on the publisher's part.

There are some advantages to digital
>easier and faster to share a dumped copy for piracy, especially in case of the Vita or PS3 thanks to NoPayStation
>you can buy from a foreign digital storefront without having to worry about import taxes unlike with actual imported physical copies (this is especially true to europoors where the threshold to trigger customs is extremely low)
>doesnt take additional space in your room
>can occasionally be cheaper than a physical copy (it's cheaper to get DoDonPachi from the PSN store than getting the actual PS1 copy)
The problem with digital is that games (and DLCs) can be taken down from purchase without any warning, and in very rare cases the publisher can deny the possibility to download the game you purchased.

I usually buy digital because of sales. I really don't care about spending a bit of money on a game. I can afford it and its just money. Usually I draw a comparison to buying fast food. I bought a game for $15, played for a couple hours. $15 is about the cost of a large fast food meal, which doesn't even give you several hours of enjoyment. Money isn't everything.

Why buy any game at all? Pirate everything.
9c67a0 No.16553558
Reselling a game (or more accurately, buying a used copy, but both the seller and buyer are guilty) is literally worse than pirating. When someone pirates, the developer misses out on a potential sale. But only potential. If someone didn't pirate, they might not necessarily have bought it at all.
But when someone buys a used game, that's money they actually do spend, but instead of going to the developer it goes to the reseller. You are actually stealing a sale.
If you're gonna be a cheap fag and try to recoup your costs, at least be ethical about it and pirate instead of buying physical so you can sell it later and fuck the dev out of a sale.
3fbc7e No.16555045
Physical copy is better in most cases. The only time they aren't are kids who will break them and when digital copies drop below the loss of buying and reselling a physical copy. Games are more likely to depreciate so it is better to think in terms of getting the most enjoyment with the lowest cost.
>>16553558
First sale doctrine doesn't screw anybody out of money. It increases economic activity, which increases the value of a market. Pirating is like marketing and also prevents criminal activity. People play the game and discuss it, which leads to more sales. Those who cannot afford the game can alleviate their desire through pirating and not have to shoplift. The game pacifies them, and they won't annoy others in public.

Not all disc based ps3 games let you install to the hard drive, so in that case the digital version has faster load times. I'd imagine there's a CFW tool to get around that though and let you install your retail copies.

Why would you buy a game without checking out if it's shit or not first? I agree about physical being superior to digital, but that's not really the foremost reason. The reason you buy games is to support the devs and the title, genre and taste of the game you're buying.
Finally, digital is fine when phyiscal isn't an option, like on most PC games, it's also good in the regard that small devs can sell their games and compete against bigger ones.

some people like to game share. some people don't like to leave their house to get vidya. some people have exorbitant amounts of money and they just don't give a shit. some people are too busy nailing broads and living their dream life to take the time out of their day to buy a game. some people are legitimately stupid enough to believe that they actually own the copy of the games they buy online. some people are niggers. some people consume incredibly amounts of drugs and go on spending sprees while they're high as a kite. there are many reasons, but none of them will persuade you, and it's likely because most of them can be argued with until there is no defense for them.

If I can play native English translation Castlevania 2 without guides then fine. But from what I've heard. It seems impossible to beat without a guide. And some of the worst aspects are based off of incredible tedium only broken by time or the Japanese guide translators. Though I do hear that there's a good game here if you have a properly translated in game text.
Megaman 2 I hear is only tolerable due to shortness of the game.
I only experienced these games by proxy. As I had a rather wild childhood when it comes to game variety.
I believe the haters are born from just how garbage the initial translation was. And you can't just ignore it as that's part of the nostalgia. Most you can do is have them reconcile with it and rightfully learn to blame localization than the game itself. Encourage fair play anon. maybe with a flavor of bullying and shitposting but be genuine in having them play. You do want others to love it right?

I buy physical on principal, but honestly I'm regretting it with my Switch. I hate carrying around a little container of cartridges, I just want to be able to swap what game I'm playing from the main menu. I can do it on my PC, I can do it on my hacked Wii and 3DS. Even when I'm using it at home it's inconvenient to get up and walk across the room to change games when I'm already comfy. Switch cases don't even look good on my shelf because they're all just solid red with the same white font text. At some point they'll wear me down and I just won't care anymore.
