Wow. That was a shitshow. $9.99 a month to stream gaming. Another thing to pay for adding to the streaming wars catalogue. A wasabi colored Stadia controller? I bet some soyboy pushed that color choice as a joke and got approval. Oh, but if you get Stadia founder's edition, you get a night blue stadia controller, chromecast ultra, 3 months of stadia pro, a "complete" Destiny 2 experience and exclusive dibs on a stadia name, plus a buddy pass. Not much of a deal for $129. Also, who the hell does this? Saying you can transfer saves, when at the bottom it says they are still pending approval from Sony. I'm sure they'll get approval but that was a premature announcement. There is base which is free but that looks to be poor-man's edition. Saying you'll own the games when you're streaming them. That's a crock of shit and they know it.
The only interesting game was Baldur's Gate 3 but there was no gameplay and Gylt (which might be pronounced guilt or guilty) which looks closer to Clocktower in gameplay. There seems to be a packing/ moving game which is just frogger with "crazy" physics which I'm sure I'm seen before. Might have been on playstation or been a similar type of physics based game. Found it funny they skipped mentioning google+ with all the achievements they have. Also, that they can be reached on twitter when they just had a massive VoxAdpocalypse happen just a day before. They also skipped mentioning how it would affect your data plan and how connectivity would work with millions of people simultaneously connected instead of just a small pool of players. How about when your computer is down because of unexpected company maintenance or sudden connectivity loss, will it auto save to reconnect? I trust google as much as I trust a scorned lover. Keeping my distance as far as possible and hope someone pirates the exclusives if they can.

After thinking it over, I had to look hard at who Stadia is aimed for. The concept of cloud gaming seems like something that'll happen in the future but on the Stadia service, it just looks really borked in execution. I think most peoples initial thoughts was that it would be the netflix of gaming but it isn't. You still have to pay for games. The $9.99 a month seems to just be for playing at 4k and some free games you'll get for paying that month. You can still use Stadia on base level but it's capped at 1080p at won't come out till 2020. There is very little exclusives or at all within the launch window of Stadia on November. To get early access to Stadia, you have to pre-order the founders pack that gets you a limited edition night blue controller, 3 free months for you and 3 months free for your buddy, chromecast to play on your tv and exclusive dibs on your Stadia name.
Stadia isn't the console killer that people feared. It seems like another option to add to what you can already do in gaming. Not an industry shakeup but more like another service to get more of the gaming industry pie by wedging itself in someplace unexpected. Their aim is portability and gaming on any device, regardless of hardware which is a lofty goal. The finer details that the average person might overlook may just be more costly than just purchasing a console or building a PC in the long run.
Since you're streaming, you don't own the games and there doesn't seem to be a way to back-up or to play offline in case the servers go down. For all the talk in the presentation it didn't address the major issues that people have with Stadia: latency, video compression and data usage for people with a data cap. There is likely a good reason for that because according to PC gamer (yes, I know) you'll use up 1TB if you're playing for 65 hrs total. Most AAA games are 30-40 hrs long in content and you'll likely hit your data cap or exceed it easily if you're using your internet connection for anything else which you likely are. There's also google's reliability which they shown isn't that reliable. They had problems with google not to long ago and even during the live showing, there were buffering issues.
Stadia seems like it's trying to be for everyone but in doing so it's making its service limited to certain kinds of people. If you are a hardcore gamer, Stadia isn't for you since you'll likely already have a rig that'll play in 4K at 60fps without having to pay a monthly subscription. Stadia seems like it's going for the casual who travels a lot but within their state, and doesn't care where they game but only plays up to 30 hrs a month if they have a data cap. If there are that many people who fit this description, Stadia will be okay financially. Other than that, Stadia will just be another add-on that exist alongside regular gaming that'll fail or succeed on how much they'll keep investing in it and hoping for profit. Seems like it'll be another 10-15 years where the feasibility of cloud gaming as a service will be better when technology catches up to it so it's going into the same cycle that we treat VR.
