The second one you posted is as of right now the best budget stick on the market. Its also fully modular so you can combine and replace individual parts at will like the big boys with 4k setups do.

Great for Six directional movement, only problem is there's like two shooters and a buttload of flying simulators, the build quality on those aren't as good as an actual flight stick if I recall.

There's three Descent games, plus Overload. Also, with X-Wing/TIE-Figther, Wing Commander games, Strike Commander, Freespace, Starlancer, Freelancer, and all the mods and the arcade-ish sims from Novalogic there's plenty of games to play for the non-autistic.

My go-to joystick game was traditionally Mechwarrior. Then I got heavy into IL-2 Sturmovik as a teenager.

In case you have never used a Hotas, I advice you to find a way to try one first or buy the cheapest one you can, it may be a big disappointment to you.

I have that CH products stick. It is something else. Got the pedals and throttle too.

Very sturdy construction as expected from a company that makes industrial joysticks for honest men's work. Was pretty expensive though. Wouldnt recommend unless you have the dosh to buy the entire setup and room for it(no stick twist because that is for faggots so you need pedals). If you are just beginning then I would recommend another something else.

Software is pretty intense with it. Very configurable and can do things like map all you shit into one controller for those older games with bad input support.

Played a lot of Elite Dangerous with it in VR. Was great not having to remove my hands from the devices for any function.

Yeah the T16000m has a really good sensor I'd say, the twist/rudder was better on my really old flightstick though, required a lot less strenght to twist it. Really good sensor though and quite cheap, I bouught some more expensive hotas that ended up worse than that stick and left to collect the dust in the shame corner.

Important, because you might end up spending 150+ on hotas to then realize than your 50 euro flightstick was a shit ton more accurate and felt better.

Then you will tell yourself "Yeah the Hotas is more for flight sims" and hide your shame while diving to your death in some BF109.

It isnt so bad in VR with the full setup. The casual flight model still gets old after 400 hours though. No challenge to it and fighting the AI gets really old once you figure out how bad they cheat.

Logitech X52 Pro is the HOTAS I went with, it's somewhat expensive but cheaper ones either seemed shit or lacked the separate throttle module which I wanted.

Stick fills pretty limp though, the tension modification is recommanded on it and I'd say it's still pretty expensive for what it is. Pretty sure the dead zone makes it eh for planes and more suited for space sims. Got an X52 Pro collecting dust in the corner while cheap stick reigns supreme on my desk

Recently I bought a Warthog stick and an X52 throttle because fuck me if I was gonna spend $250 on a glorified one axis stick.

I play a lot of Elite, well used to, but i burn out after 1700 hours, I thought buying a Hotas would reignite my love for the game, but it turns out using a keyboard and mouse is way faster and easier 90% of the time, and the Hotas is more for hardcore PVP accuracy shit i almost never do, because there are other ways to battle than using perfectly aimed shots. Because of that, the Hotas just collected dust for a couple months in my desk

So then i went and tried DCS. God what a shitty game it was, the Hotas was sort of OK in this game but that is because the existing M&K options aren't very good.

I am confused, I want to get rid of those controls because I felt I wasted my money but I also think there will be a game were i might actually enjoy them.

I enjoy fighting games a lot, so I can make the analogy that this is the equivalent of buying a fighting stick for just one game and thinking you will somehow become better or enjoy it more just for using it.

The cheapo hotas that looks like a single unit, you know the one that is also available for Xbox or ps4 well turns out that thing can be separated for more comfort, unless you mean completely independent, then yeah the X52 is the best value choice.

The biggest issue with hotas is with games requiring you to look around you. While you do have the hat multidiretional button I never found it to be not fast enough so you need one hand on the mouse one hand on the stick. Then if you get Headtracking shittery you can make proper use of a hotas I'd say.

You could try out some of the IL2 games, 1946 is very forgiving and has the most content due to mods.

Not sure what you mean here, you can set the deadzone to whatever you want, I don't think I had issues with that. But I also have it collecting dust as I can't be bothered to play flight sims nowadays.

Yeah for sure, that's a REAL pain in many games. I kind of feel pressured to buy VR or TrackIR because I still can't play games like DCS where looking around is super important. TBH I've mainly used this stick to play Freespace 2 mods and Descent

The AI doesn't cheat at all, it's just really good at piloting and maybe the only unfair thing is their superb accuracy with weapons, however the NPC ships are always vanilla tier and any ship that has bee upgraded by engineers will annihilate them, modifications are so OP against the AI that an Imperial Courier can frag them to death in seconds.

ProTip: You are the one that can actually cheat using the AI, you can launch off your ship in a fighter and have an NPC pilot take control of it, since they are basically an aimbot you don't have to worry about aiming those class 3-4 overcharged weapons, and as a bonus you get to bully and play pretend tie fighter.

"forever" in this case being roughly 6 months before the sensors start to wear out. Also you should look up the glue mod for it, as it massively reduces the deadzone the stick has because logitech didn't anchor the sensors down properly. It is cheap and pretty comfy for small hands though.

Got it recently and it's very pleasant. I don't know about VR headsets for older flight sims though. The TrakIR pro clip feels very cheap though, I've seen people recommend the Delan Clip instead.

Flight simulators, Descent and it's sequels/spiritual successors, Terminal velocity and it's sequels, the X-wing/TIE fighter series. That's probably about it.

I kinda like it. But I wish had more use for it. There's only so many flight sims I can play. And trying to get it to function with mech games from back then is a little too much effort for me.

This. Virpil sticks are really high quality and are also relatively modular insofar as mounting them goes, but at that price you need to try one before you drop the dosh on one. If you're even remotely "serious" about your sims they're worth checking out
