The main (and only, apparently) feature of this server is a large wall and towers protecting a village. I like what 1.14 has done with villages, they look quite nice now.

For now there's the "programmer's art", but I am unsure if it covers the new textures.
I think that if it disappears, then we will need to use texture packs forever… but very few people want to recreate the charming look of the old vanilla textures, instead going for all the realism and whatnot, which even in the old Beta days always looked too dark and/or grimy to me.

I'm actively exploring these servers as we write. I use a service called shodan.io which lets you search for internet things (servers, webcams, etc). I use it for Minecraft servers, some people spy on unprotected webcams using it, but I think you need a premium account if you want more than a few results from the search engine.

I didn't notice until now, but large swaths of the landscape are covered in torches. Can't be too careful.
The minecraft ride made a sudden end as I fell from the tracks and lost most of my life. I fought off a spider, losing all but half a heart, and was swiftly killed by a skeleton as I took my walk back to civilization.
I hope the server owners don't mind me snatching up a(nother) five ingots for a minecart.

It was literally a marketing stunt for Chinese audiences. Then they went back and added it to Java edition because they already went through the hassle of coding it. But, no joke, the Chinese had it months ago (apparently they have a completely different edition of Minecraft that basically nobody knows about because, lol, it's China).
They're actually the most complex mobs in the game. Rather than just having color varieties come in several different "personalities" that affect their behavior (one lazes around, one is aggressive, one is sick and sneezes, one is hyper and does flips all the time, etc) and the method by which breeding pairs pass on their personalities is, from what I've read, determined based on genetic algorithms rather than randomly assigned or just picking one of the parents.

I managed to get an inside and outside view of the aquarium. There were real fish swimming inside instead of the ones that just materialize when you fish them out.

While looking for new servers, I found these two and gave them a quick look.
The first one, in daylight, appeared to be attacked at some point. I hope the server ends up dead before the owner finds out how it's been ruined.
The second, in the dark, had a house I couldn't enter. The door would have half the block open, the other half closed. It would stay that way despite every effort I made to change it. As a result, I was forced to admire its beauty from arm's length.

Shulker boxes are damn useful. It's basically a chest that you can break and carry with you without everything in it falling out. It basically reduces a single chest's worth of contents down to one inventory slot.
