Where that be a wacky side quest, a wink to the audience, or an out right Blooper/Outtakes video. I really like the idea of Outtakes in a game since unlike a film, they developers need to go out of there way just to make these jokes.

One of the side quests in Shadow Hearts: Covenant rewards Joachim with a bludgeon named “The Dark Tower.” It’s basically a miniature (comparatively; it’s still like 4-5 feet tall) of their publisher Aruze’s office building, and even throws the logo in on the roof to make it more clear. A dialogue about it between Joachim and his imouto.
>”Wh-what’s this?”
>”It’s a present! It makes noise if you shake it, ‘cause there are little people working in that building! And they’re facing a deadline right now, you know, so they’re really irritable. It make ‘em really fierce in battle!”
The weapon description says similar:
>"A building passed down in the vampire family, just as the Demon Sword Tyrfing was. The little people inside work day and night and cause a huge ruckus."
Implication could be read into it a few different ways I suppose, be it that Aruze was a cranky publisher to deal with, or that the devs themselves were irritated to be working under them. I say that mainly because some former Nautilus staff later went on to say that Aruze was already angry with them after SH1’s release, being that sales were low even natively in Japan, and that they got chewed out about why they couldn’t make something more “normal” (I’d guess they thought ex-Square devs would mean Square-tier sales). Given how Covenant and FtNW, while lighter, were hardly games with normalfag appeal or sales in the slightest, cheeky “nip at the hand” behavior like calling the Aruze Building “The Dark Tower” and the people within as stressed/stress inducing strikes me as right at home. Also that Nautilus included a similar, separate (stronger) weapon to represent them as the developers (a miniature submarine), and to me it wouldn't make much sense to double up on the same point. I suppose the biggest question is if Nautilus worked in the same building directly, or just had to report to Aruze as their dark masters.
Too bad Aruze eventually had enough of their shit and dissolved them. Some of the former staff went on to help Mistwalker with Lost Odyssey.
The Aruze logo also shows up on the floor of the wrestling rings during the Man Festival, but that has it's own separate implications.

Mocking platforms is probably apt to be seen as more good-natured than mocking the publisher themselves, especially if it's an "everybody gets some" thing, or mainly targets a different line of system than what it's on. Granted, I suppose one could say the platform holder can still say what games get made for it, but unless they're doubling as publisher as well, it's not their money being used as funding.

When the game uses very little particle effects, but it still manages to convey important messages about the state of the game or give that extra immersion to it.
Examples of good particle effects: CTR had these very minute, simple effects for whenever you were running somewhere you're not supposed to be, which, in addition to sound cues and slower movement speed, allow you to fully understand what you're doing wrong. The exhaust of your kart is also a nice touch. Another good example would be in the No More Heroes series, where it's usually just for flair, but they completely disappear when you're not actually hitting someone, they're very simple in nature and don't blind you (except for the transformation ones that have an effect on the whole screen).
Conversely, shit like Smash Ultimate has a shitton of anime effects that play all over the place, not only they're extremely visually distracting, they usually cover a large area of the screen if not flat out hide gameplay elements. They're exaggerated and give no useful information about the current game. Very similar shit for TF2.

False dichotomy.
There is no reason for anti-weebs normalfags to come here given that being an anti-weeb normalfag is the norm. Coming to an isolated fringe site to then get upset and complain about the content is retarded, that's what the first image pokes fun at.
Nu-/pol/ coming to /v/ and complaining that people here are weebs, neets, don't have families or something along the line would be retarded, yes, but them coming to 8ch as a whole makes perfect sense due to them being ostracized and censored virtually everywhere else. Combine that with 8ch's board creation feature and you have a reason why someone would see 8ch as a valid alternative despite not fitting in with the majority of the userbase.

Which game? The biggest animation variety that comes to mind is Conker's idle animations. In any case I adore seeing little details in games. Even if the games themselves aren't good it shows that there was some degree of love put into it.
On that subject I have to suspect as bad as it was that the devs of Batman Forever had a lot of fun making it. All the enemies have ridiculous names, but they also have ridiculous attacks, especially the chainsaw guys and the clowns.

N64? All of them, except maybe 2 N64 games which used actual skeletons. Mario 64 for example has 209 animations for Mario, it's not even a skeleton just vertex animation. You wouldn't notice this because it was designed to affect you unconsciously, the goal was to make the whole thing seamless to give life to the world.

The real meme regarding VP9 encoding is –quality=best, it runs 1/3 the speed of –quality=good while barely delivering 0.5% increase in quality.
That guide is outdated as fug anyways, it's missing the -row-mt option which enables proper multithreading while also increasing quality.
t. ffmpeg -i input.mkv -f yuv4mpegpipe - | --codec=vp9 --webm -t 7 --lag-in-frames=25 --end-usage=vbr --target-bitrate=<X> --auto-alt-ref=6 --tile-columns=6 --tile-rows=2 --frame-parallel=0 --row-mt=1 --min-q=20 --max-q=63 --frame-boost=1 --cpu-used=0 --sharpness=7 --static-thresh=0 --noise-sensitivity=0 --kf-max-dist=9999 --enable-tpl=0 -w <X> -h <X> --passes=2 --pass=1 --fpf=vpxpass.txt -o output -

It should be pointed out that allowing infinte keyframe spacing is also questionable except for very short videos. Video seeking has problems if the gap is too wide. A sane value is 10-20 times the framerate. Also that guide's sources are on Git if anyone wants to try updating it.

Sometimes best actually deliveres worse quality than good too. Most of the time it's a tiny increase in quality, but there's some outliers where best turns out noticibly much better or worse than good. But I'm not knowledgable enough about videos and encoding to know when a given video will come out better with good or best.
>>16517314
That too. -g 9999 really fucks with seeking and I stopped using that soon after. I usually use a maximum distance of 4 seconds.

Wonder Red does this throughout the whole game, basically every time a cutscene ends. But one small detail that's nice is that, running concurrent with the story, the further in you get, the more in sync their "ROGER!" becomes. Leading to it being essentially one voice, at the end. Though TW101 is full of this kind of stuff, throughout the entire game. I'm serious, basically every place you look, you'll find something on par with that.

People can say what they want about Phantasy Star Online 2, but it's clear that at least some people on the dev team really care about the product they're putting out. Either that, or they know they're making a fortune by selling dresses to whales.

Alternatively the developers were masturbating to it. And speaking of which, Bullet Girls. The series generally has a lot of attention to the girls, but in Phantasia there's a point in one of their death animations where it looks like they are. Literally, hands in their crotch but also middle fingers curled in more. That aside the attention to the girls are also great in general, especially in the dressing room where they have lots of dialogue and things like their handwritten names on their swimsuit costume differing dependent on who it is.
1a10fe No.16529145

Bullet Girls Phantasia and games like them are exactly the reason why Sony stated they had no clear guidelines and that they wouldn't be putting up any guidelines for their recent censorship moves. No matter what rules they put up, the Japs would somehow find a way to just skirt them and come out lewder somehow. Jesus that game, especially the interogation scenes.
d220ec No.16529298
>>16529145
No, the reason is if they put up official public guidelines then they have to actually follow them. If they don't put up guidelines they're free to make up whatever arbitrary bullshit they want whenever they want to depending on whether they felt more like a women or a nigger that particular day of the week.
It is the SJW way.
