Just read the PSA already and get on it if you're on a problem version. This option is only temporary.
Apparently nothing is actually certain with LOLIcon yet but it's likely getting updates soon. Also while it won't affect Vita, Catherine Full Body's localization is looking to be censored. Just fair warning for people who might've been interested in it on other platforms.
STAY ON 3.60 OR 3.65! DON'T UPDATE BEYOND 3.68, FAILING THAT, 3.70!!!

>A demo for Yumeutsutsu Re:Master is now available for PlayStation 4, Switch, PS Vita, and PC (Steam) in Japan.
>Yumeutsutsu Re:Master is due out for PlayStation 4, Switch, PS Vita, and PC in Japan on June 13. The PlayStation 4, PS Vita, and PC versions will be released physically and digitally, while the Switch version will be digital-only. A western release was planned for spring, but that was announced before the Japanese version was delayed from its initial February release window. An updated western release window has yet to be announced.
I've played a bit of Yumeutsutsu demo released yesterday. Nothing that looked anormal although I prefer to give my final verdict once the full product is out next month by precaution, just like Your Diary+ (the latter already has a PSP version in any case)

UPPERS difficulty really jumps around chapter 5. Or at least, if there are mechanics I'm supposed to have learned in previous chapters, they really aren't demanded enough that when it really expects you to know them you you haven't and everything wipes the floor with you. I'll have to double-check the tutorial later but for now it's at Normal.
Also confirmed the same C1-6703-6 error with Helldivers if patched, and I definitely use games over 3.60. Strange, but you can just install the compatibility pack in pkgj and it'll be happy.

I bought it brand new a couple years ago for the 360 (no point on getting the PS4/PC release if you're just gonna play the campaign) and it's trash; all the characters are annoying (everyone being charismatic despite being horrible human beings was one of the main selling points of this franchise), the missions are bland as fuck and chockfull of cutscenes, the cops are omniscient and will gun you down in three seconds flat if you don't take cover, you can't go innawoods to hunt game because firing a silenced pistol in the middle of fucking nowhere somehow gets you a wanted level (a rabbit reported you, probably) and the map is a clusterfuck so no proper chases. I don't think it's even worth pirating.
>AC:BF
Too much stealth, the plot doesn't even matter until the last few missions. If you're gonna play an asscreed game go for either 2 (avoid the DLC and sequels, pretend it's a standalone game) or Rogue (pretty much the best in terms of gameplay, ship combat has been refined).

Same way you do normal SD to SD. Copy the entire folder tree over! The caveat is with official memory cards (and internal storage) they use a weird filesystem that cannot be USB accessed on all OSes. In those situations you may need to use FTP, or possible you can mount the SD on a different point and copy on the Vita itself.

These fucking Rachel chapters in Ninja Gaiden Sigma Plus are fucking cancer, whoever thought this shit was a good idea should be shot. Girl has no flying swallow, no guillotine throw, no izuna drop, no two button launcher, her ranged tool sucks (she has to stay still to use it, and it misses all the fucking time) and she's slow as shit, and despite being a goddamn turtle she has no more health or defense than Ryu. And they have the nerve to throw nothing but the fast demons at you in her chapters, so enjoy spamming UTs in the corner to get those annoying little niggers off your back just so you can deal with the big demons that look like greymon without getting interrupted mid-combo.
I am not going to play the sequel i've heard it's a shit port anyway nor am i going to beat this one in its hardest difficulty, however i am going to buy Black, 2 and Razor's Edge for the 360 because these games are pretty fucking good better than DMC imo and those three have little to no girl chapters, iirc only Razor's Edge has them but they're extremely short and the girl you're forced to play as is even faster than Ryu.

Currently testing a bunch of personal custom PS1 eboots on Adrenaline before I share here. I cant say they're 100% guaranteed to work flawlessly but they should be solid enough. Otherwise feel free to notify me if something went wrong although I wont be able to do much besides changing the compression method (they're set on "worst" level 1 by default to prevent audio desync and eventual slowdowns) as Adrenaline is incompatible with POPSLoader. Would have loved to share some screenshots but POPS doesnt really like the pngshot plugin, I get corrupted purple/green pictures instead thanks doc even when changing the resolution to "Normal" or "Full" in the POPS official settings.
Anyway here's a vidya adaptation of an anime classic, where you play as a male OC character recently transferred into the Bokuto police station. It plays overall like a visual novel although you have to manage patrols around the tokyo metropolitian zone each day and there is also a couple of minigames present (such as a duel against Strike-man pitches)

Once I'm done testing a few more, thus ready to share them. That said, I'm meeting more problems on western releases than JP releases. Bugs Bunny Lost in Time always gets a black screen after the language selection screen, Heart of Darkness is completely buggy, and Looney Tunes Sheep Raider has a massive slowdown when pressing O to run away as well as an audio delay during cutscenes (really noticeable in the introduction sequence and the tutorial explanations are cut short in the last second). Kinda a pity because I liked those games when younger. I have yet to report such issues, early ones at least, on the JP releases (Tondemo Crisis, Refrain Love, Nurse Story, etc) I've converted so far

In case of FullKiss yeah it was censored and I suspect by the policy (no idea however if the board requested to make changes or if it was a preemptive action). RepKiss, a VN from the same publisher released on Vita/PS4 in 2017 had no problems showing some nude skin or panties. Also no Switch, in general Entergram seems reluctant with this platform with only a very few offerings that are digital-only. Soi Kano ~Gyutto Dakishimete~ on Switch has the same edited pictures on par with the Vita/PS4 version for instance.

Trimming is an unfortunate factor at times (I know Mato had to resort to some custom character set that combined two letters into one character space to bypass doing so with Mother 3, for example), especially considering how much more kanji can say in a lot less characters, but can they not manage a variable width font or something? Still, if >>16523451 is supposed to be a screen shot of the game, I can see how character portraits eat into what room could otherwise be available.
Also if you ask me whatever font used there has some odd spacing between various letters that could be eating into the available pixel space even further, even it's just room for another letter per line.

Might as well ask why no one's apparently thought to bring lanyn in for a patch of Tales of Rebirth or Tales of Destiny 2, considering he/she has translation scripts for both games over at gamefags. Though admittedly I'm not sure if they'd be down for having their work used as such, even if credited, but on the opposite side, some people that start projects just don't want to share credit space with others, or (understandably) don't trust someone else's work to necessarily be accurate.

It's easy enough to explain. Some people who understand translation may not have enough knowledge or motivation to tear apart the script rendering parts, especially if they're handled in a hack-ish crappy manner. Generally speaking any ROM hack should test on the actual hardware too otherwise you risk locking it to sub-standard emulators. PS1 hacking also has its own problems distribution-wise in that there's not any good standards for patching and I'd say, less interest in and knowledge of the hardware.
On a related topic since it was just script editing, the Neptunia Re;translations still need a few flubs corrected with text overflow and typos.

You really believe that? It sounds more like some shitty deflection strategy by Sony, just shift the blame. Why would a ban in the UK/Australia affect the worldwide release as a whole? Valkyria Drive got banned in some countries but that didn't stop them.
They still could have made an Asia English release, or hell, just release a patch for the Japanese version. Anything to not have it be a complete waste. It makes no sense from a financial standpoint to just completely drop it unless they had no other choice.

Can confirm, the port is kinda bad. Slowdown is prevalent through out the game. Loading takes forever and some of the menu sprites look like they have bad compression. Every single dialog has a stutter when advancing text which is quite annoying. Additionally, they some how managed to screw up the resolution when porting over and they missed a row of pixels on the top. This wouldn't be such a big deal but if you use lolicon, the upper edge of the 'Configuration Loaded' text gets stuck there, leaving a dozen or so bright green pixels on the upper edge of the screen.

Yeah I certainly don't recommend giving Sony money for anything at this point in time.
>Why would a ban in the UK/Australia affect the worldwide release as a whole?
Pqube operates out of the UK, and the ratings board there refused to rate it, but not only that, they adamantly called it out as being CP. Might be a factor that if they kept working on it, they could have gotten in actual trouble with the government even if they didn't do a native UK release, but it could also just be that SCEA and SCEE took note after hearing that and simply didn't want anything like it in the western market from their own end whether or not they agreed with the refusal to rate reasoning. Maybe if Pqube was based out of NA it could have been avoided since ESRB had already cleared it under an M rating, though it's not as if localization companies based here aren't wrought with their own issues.
>Valkyria Drive got banned in some countries but that didn't stop them.
I'd assume most of the world just sees games banned in both countries and writes them off as Germany and Australia being Germany and Australia, because it's long since become typical.

They wouldn't have gotten in trouble with the UK government or ratings board if they didn't release in the UK. The rating boards of the UK explicitly stated (in their statement) that they had no problems with them releasing the game in other countries and that their judgement only affected the UK.
Considering the exceptional delays Pqube went through with announcing the actual cancellation, and explicitly blaming the platform holder (Sony) for the cancellation of the game, It can safely be assumed they were trying to get it released in some way, shape or form. Sony can safely be assumed to hold the lion's share of the blame, with the UK rating boards taking a partial blame at best. PQube repeatedly talked in the past about how they work with the rating boards as best they can, if the rating boards were to blame for this case they would have included them as a party in their statement, but they did not. In fact, they practically exonerated them from the blame in their statement with how they worded it and place pretty much all of it on the "Platform holder" (Sony).

Forgot, but here's an article with the VSC's (UK Rating Board) statements and clarifications
http://operationrainfall.com/2018/03/16/vsc-decision-ban-omega-labyrinth-z/
>Whilst it is true that the game received a PEGI 18 rating, in the UK the VRA requires us to further consider issues of ‘harm’ which may result from a game being released. This question of harm is applied to all and every game we receive. It is unfortunate that on this occasion it was found necessary to refuse certification to this particular game. However, this decision was not taken lightly. Two clinical psychologists and a senior lawyer gave opinion on the viability of the game and concluded that it was likely that the material was in conflict with the law. This notwithstanding, the VSC Chair and Vice Chair also considered, independently, the viability of the game and ultimately concluded that it was not viable in the UK. The game remains available in mainland Europe where UK laws have no bearing.

Exactly, they go out of the way to mention Sony as the culprit. In comparison for example, Bamco (with Berseria's censorship on the early Laphicet scene) mentioned that they didn't want to get a 16+ rating. They didn't specifically mention the board, but since they said 16 it was pretty much a given it's PEGI, as ESRB doesn't have a 16 level.
(doubtful it was going to be USK, pretty much every Tales of has a 12 rating, even Xillia 2).

Another love simulator game published Konami, which is pretty alike of Tokimeki Memorial (date girls, please them, fight off rumors although the "bomb" system is easier to deal with unlike the original Tokimeki, etc) but there are some differences. There are sections which act like a TRPG where you're sent to war with units and the girls can die depending of your actions

Forgot just how awful the 48 idols round 2 was. It's just a grind of enemies with incredible reach and speed, and oftentimes prolonged by their amazing sun-resistant ribbons. At least it was followed by revenge against her kind. I've never really clicked to the fighting system in general, and I think the blocking mechanic is probably the worst part with the sheer damage and the fact you can regenerate your health as it were. The core brawling with the moveset variety seems solid though, actually reminds me a bit of God Hand in aspects like the way some moves evade high or launch enemies.
Also I've no idea who Susanna Hopkins is but I like her model and expressive face. The plain ridiculous stuff in general.

Wonder if I can replace the anime screening with Kodomo no Jikan's ED. It is just a video file. Won't have audio since no video has it inside MOGRA, but it'd be funny. The screens in the subway I just replaced with a lewd slideshow, and the rest were replaced with random game PVs including for itself and the anime, at least that's the intent. Super Robot Wars A Portable is tearing my asshole with the insane difficulty holy shit
>enemies often overwhelm you and are backed up by one or several bosses at once
>bosses all fuck off if their HP fall below a certain number (except in rare scenarios, such as the finales of an anime serie)
>if you cant oneshot them before their retreat, you're denied items and extra money that could massively upgrade your units. Killing only the normal units dont pay the bills.
>Char and other mobile suit bosses have low HP but they're extremely swift, making hard to land hits unless you waste SP points in case of super robot units/battleships or counterattack them with your own mobile suits
>any mission that involve allies/NPC units is a fucking torture because you cant control or heal them, they can eventually steal your kills (and sometimes items), make bosses retreat or get killed by bosses
At least the game doesnt have secrets based on your total amount of turns, and you can kinda cheat your way by continuing from a Game Over as you keep your earned funds and experience (unlike other SRW games where you're denied SR points and secrets based on total amount of turns). Koji (Mazinger Z), Kazuya (Daimon), Domon (G Gundam), Amuro (Char's Counterattack), Kamille (in Char's red modified suit, it's a secret item you get by defeating him to 0 HP in scenario 7) are my best units so far.

Well that worked fine. As far as limits to this I've seen a bit under 4 minutes and 13.6MiB work fine, but also you must use yuv420p or it won't work, like here with some browsers and WebMs. I don't know why the one Sonico video in the game has no audio, it should have been able to fit.
Gameplay-wise I'm having a hard time in the last two arena battles, in part because only my headwear is maxed, and enemies usually only take a couple of hits even then. The crowd control aspect is a big pain when you want to do chain-strips and the enemies keep getting in the way of each other. Switched to the golf club which has a pretty fun moveset except for its super which is like the aluminium bat. Super armor special moves are really irritating.
Also the sister does this cute thing I didn't know.

Cleared Shion and Rin's route, just two more left since I didn't get true Tohko. One thing that sucks in this game is that breast size is set by what you're wearing so for some girls it's like they're really padding themselves when stripped, Sonico especially is approaching pettanko without her outfit! Conveniently though my current model has nice big ones and so does her current highly fashionable red-white schoolgirl costume, plus bikini liners which approach the de-censor mod.
If clothes get destroyed during the final boss it won't be buyable from the junk shop on NG+ and almost lost my 999 King's Crown. Luckily I didn't save but unluckily (?) that playthrough had one of the enemies drop the anti-grav movement item and it's normally something you get after clearing the 4 routes, but can rarely drop from certain enemies, and it didn't happen the second time. Weapon-wise, the two mains gauntlet ones are just fun as hell. Soga's powered sword is extremely lopsided with crap super, crap lower, but amazing mid and high that are also just as good at destroying clothing, also an issue I found with the golf club's wide swings since enemy HP management is so critical to getting clothes and chain-strips. Magic wand feels kind of mediocre despite its cute sparkles, so I might try Shizuku's weapon out.
Also somehow missed it but XSEED did the "localization", and NISA's involvement were publishing it in Europe, for some reason. It's definitely NISA QUALITY though.

Cutely, found out the womanizer dudes occasionally get ignored, and once in a while score where him and the girl run off. Usually they just get bitchslapped though. They also aren't above hitting on your cute little sister. Weapon-wise, Shizuku's is great across the board with its super being the best. Shion's super is ordinary but her standard moves are more varied with additional effects. Gohei is fun for juggling enemies but is somewhat meh otherwise.

3.65 has little reason to go to 3.60, but any other firmware above or below it should be upgraded/downgraded to 3.60 and both support the boot-up entrypoint. The main issue is distant terrain pop-in (or close if in the gliding mini-game) but I suspect issues with the SD as it is, since other games have been erratic at times. How do I know if my saves for my physical carts are backed up? I used CMA but I'm a little scared it didn't back up properly or something since the Vita handles saves weirdly. The PSP core on the Vita handles all the save files individually, whereas the Vita seems to have a single "image" (Where everything is combined) to back up from which seems really inconvenient.
I'm in an awkward position with Trillion where, thanks to limited save slots (thanks a fucking lot IFI), I'm stuck having to possibly overwrite a save slot and thanks to the nature of the game that could be an issue.
Moreover, I assume there is no way to restore individual save files as a result of this, instead everything will be restored?
I really hate how much stress this game has given me; meta issues like limited save slots frustrate me to no end, but so far at least I love it to absolute death.

It saves them in ux0:data/savegames, you can copy them wherever you want later. And unlike cma, it has multiple slots, you don't have to fuck around with files manually. And qcma is extremely unstable for me, it randomly disconnects and the last time I tried to restore something it fucked up my whole system, so I ended up factory resetting it to return to normal, so I just manually copy the important files by VitaShell FTP/USB, and only use this cma abomination when I don't have a choice, like when VitaShell's media import refuses to work.

I found out the reason. Sometime ago, the developer of Adrenaline added the ability to speed up PSX games using the combination L+select, which I happen to do a lot because FF8's minimap is small and I need to rotate the map sometimes.
In terms of FF8, it's alright, I'm not feeling the same sense of urgency or excitement as I was in 7's disc 1. Perhaps that will change, but I have heard people give it mixed reception. After I finish this game, I'll likely go and play a native Vita game again, but I'm not sure what.

Experience makes nice dungeon crawlers, but this one isnt exactly a whole new game but a remake of Entaku no Seito (Students of Round on Xbox360 and The Eternal Legend on PSP). That said, Experience has also the weird quirk to support even the Xbone in Japan (despite being the worst-selling console with barely 100k in hardware sales there, which is far lower than the previous Xbox systems), which kinda did bite the company in the ass as Yomi wo Saku Hana is in development hell since its announcement in mid-2016.

I'm very cautious when it comes to plugins, and I know this can be the main source of instability (especially if the list order in the config txt is incorrect). I only installed so far reF00d, nonpDRM, storagemgr, rePatch, shellbat, pngshot, and udcd_uvc. The sole previous times I had to hard reboot my Vita were a corrupted PS1 custom eboot (Heart of Darkness) and one weird instance where it couldnt load anything from the Livearea.

So far I haven't hit any performance issues with Minecraft but am using 444/333 LOLIcon, and haven't built anything very adventurous that might cause problems, unlike the time I drained water into the hell area in Terraria on 3DS where it started chugging hard. My main problem is that the game autosaves sometimes, but it isn't very clear when it will. It pops up a countdown warning that can be hard/impossible to read depending on the background, and sometimes just does it whenever it wants. Nothing that has caused issues though thankfully.

You can always post URLs and keyfiles for games. That's all you actually need, at least for games, and with pkg_dec. The rest is more metadata and/or further verification.

You either have something wrong with your config as per >>16616827 or your SD card or Vita is wonky. I get a few issues with load times since I suspect my SD is getting older but nothing as bad as you're describing. My crashes are only from crappily coded games. If in doubt post your config.

Unfortunately some of the duplication glitches don't work in this version, but also now I've put a minecart track in it shows the slow chunk loading fairly badly when it's at speed, and things like pistons show performance hiccups too. Currently seeing how far up you can go in this by building up to the heavens. I'm assuming it's the 512 or whatever it was expanded to from early versions. Shame it's not "infinite" up and down with floating islands like Minetest.
Also I can manage the stick aiming but really really wish it had gyro for fine-tuning. Skeletons are total knobs, but even just regular building is slower without the speed of a mouse.

He's referring to an Ensō fork which allows for things like a custom boot splash, including animated ones. I wasn't game enough to test it just for that but it shouldn't have issues like that. Also no point using the official memory cards, it's basically only useful for Adrenaline where you can specify alt paths for ISOs, but just having one big SD card is far better across the board.

The only games i can truly recommend are killzone mercenaries and hotline miami, god of war collection is an horrible port but the games themselves are good, so if you can stomach N64 graphics, sub 25fps framerate, compressed audio and 4:3 blurry cutscenes i'd say go for it. >shortly after, the last mission in the JF route has a "SURVIVE!" objective where you have to face unlimited robot enemies and additional elite reinforcements for 10 turns, while your sole battleship is stuck on the middle of the map

Has the n64 emulation on the vita gotten any better? Are there a list of games that are completable?
ff1d8d No.16658425
Oh I never mentioned that Konosuba shooter game which I at least did a 1cc on Normal. Generally speaking the game is nothing special but it's not bad. Stage 6 has one particularly atrocious gimmick where taking the wrong path will lead to getting trapped and dead, but it's indicated by which aren't the path of least resistance so it was only once, and Megumin's EXPLOSION can destroy said walls too. The final boss can basically pull a "You are already dead" if you get hit by one of his attacks but at least on Normal it's a pretty simple one to avoid. You have access to the 4 mains as playable, plus a couple of unlockable ones (the thief girl and I think Megumin's sister so far, I haven't watched the entire anime yet to be sure) which each have varying stats for movement speed, attack type, HP, and such, but you can also acquire partners throughout which do super moves. Aqua can heal you, Megumin does what Megumin does, Kazuma steals random upgrades, and such. Environment plays a part where you move slower in water as the notable one, and you also have a basic upgrade system where you can visit shops along the way to buy things like HP, faster attacking, and panties (I don't know if they do anything but why not). Cutely you have the option of making the shops sell worthless trinkets, and Darkness unable to hit anything, there are some nods to things from the series like the pause window. Also it uses anime Aqua so her death has pixel butt and not shimapan. If you enjoyed the anime it's worth a play.

ff1d8d No.16660467
Oh nice it's one of those games where there's a difficulty gulf. Hard is not that much worse than Normal, while Death has much more relentless enemies. Sucks for Megumin since she uses a controllable familiar to attack and cannot move while doing so. Also this is how you test your button mashing.
>>16659962
I doubt overclocking would help a lot even if it works. The thing is unless you do 500/333 it isn't actually being overclocked. Games can request the system to run at 444/333 if they need more power, all LOLIcon really is is an override function of sorts since some games are too conservative and run like shit as a result.

Hard to say. You may or may not find the load times unbearable with 7 and especially 9, try it in emulator first (Mednafen with or without RetroArch is best for PlayStation, it will need BIOS files to work). I've only completed 7 but have made a fair bit of progress in 9 and it's definitely the better one mechanically and story-wise, while 7 is the sort you play to break the fuck out of. I like both games for their visual style with the 2D and 3D. Ironically I haven't finished 6 either, I got to World of Ruin, but never finished it, just getting to that point took multiple attempts.
Note there is no continuity as such so playing them in any order is fine. Try 9 first.

Does the change to digital format not help them much in that regard? I remember playing a custom eboot of Koudelka on my PSP years ago, and while the loading was still a thing, it was quite noticeably shorter compared to playing it off the actual discs on my PS2. I want to estimate the time needed was halved.
ff1d8d No.16660964
>>16660929
It's unlikely to be affected. There aren't a lot of loading screens per se actually there may be none. But the transition blur to get in battles takes maybe 15 seconds in FF9, FF7 it's about half that and manageable. More than that though is all the unskippable cutscenes and dialogue that's where you need frame skipping. Obviously FF7 is noted for its angsty protagonist but on top of that the localization is QUALITY typical of that period. FF6 from memory only had a battle lead-in of 4-5 seconds? FF9's overworld also has somewhat dodgy framerate. Both games have pretty fantastic atmosphere and soundtracks. I really love the start of FF7 where they complete their mission and are making their way back to the hideout. The start of FF9 is particularly memorable too, with the stage performance, and its pre-rendered cutscenes are a lot of fun.

>But the transition blur to get in battles takes maybe 15 seconds in FF9
Has anyone figured out what exactly makes it take that long to get set up to the point of "fight's on" that even digital storage wouldn't improve it? I mean, I know Final Fantasy is popular and PS1 Square-soft still had a reputation for quality, but I'm a bit surprised at what sort of patience would be required for dealing with loading like that over and over. Is it a hard coded minimum time that just can't be improved on? Not like I can't deal with some loading, just that that sounds quite excessive in the long run.
ff1d8d No.16664645
>>16660982
It's like that on console, but I'd strongly suspect it's a hard-coded delay even with PSP eBoots. I'm more patient than most to play RPGs without speed-up so I'll be trying to finish FF9 now. Somewhat relatedly by far my best moment was in a playthrough of a Touhoumon ROM hack where I got two shinies, in the space of a day, and both chibi forms, and running the game at slightly under its regular speed since GBA emulation sucks on Vita. At least I can turn the sound off and use the built-in music player.

I'll repeat more or less what I've said in the other thread. They fixed two of my main initial complaints: the original Switch was too big as a handheld since the tablet alone (without joycons) was itself slightly bigger than the Vita, and they actually added a real d-pad (although its position is weird but it's manageable). The lack of TV output is absolutely gay however even if I would have never personally planned to use it on my own, only during family/friends visit events. I heard apparently the handheld mode tend to be mostly an afterthought for games on the Switch, with the font text being small for instance, but I havent tried the console long enough to know and confirm this.
That said, the system really needs to step the fuck up in terms of software library because it's clearly not worth it if you already own a Vita which also let you play PSP and PS1 games natively with its value increasing by tenfold if you can into moonrunes obviously. Nintendo's first-party modern games arent a purchase argument for me although Mario Maker 2 looks fun since I'm a sucker for level editor shit in general and lmao indies, random ps4/vita ports and multiplatform releases are not gonna cut it. Then again I have a lot of personal bias, the console is probably fine for EOP weebs right now.
Of course that model needs to be cracked down, but the homebrew scene for Switch is so much a shitshow right now that I dont expect anything soon yet.

I think it's to Switch as PSTV is to Vita. They take out a whole lot of core features like the docked mode, motion controls, the two-player co-op stuff, and more. Also no RCM exploit. In particular I have been playing that Neptunia game on mine lately and some text is virtually unreadable when using it undocked. That is a fault in the game but I suspect it's not an isolated example where games don't always consider the different use cases.

I suggest the OLED (Which is the 1000 model)
but if you don't mind the LCD screen, I believe the Slim comes with 1 GB internal memory that's easily accessible meaning you don't need to have a vita memory card to hack it easily.
The slim model is also lighter, and slimmer.
I believe the triggers are a bit more wobbly or flimsy compared to the 1000 model though. Plus I've heard some issues involving control stick ghosting after a while more so with the slim than ever with the 1000

My main issue with Slim PCH-2xxx is they feel less ergonomic, and when you see OLED, IPS feels like trash even with OLED's disadvantages. The 1GB storage is nice though for not needing to touch official memory cards. Personally though, I recommend 3G PCH-11xx for PSVSD if you can find one, followed by first-gen PCH-10xx since any memory card works for the initial breaking and you normally won't need it except to recover if things break.

Going through the whole cracking guide without so much as owning the console is probably a bunch of jibberish to me right now, but I'm looking to see how much I'll need to spend and want to get all the parts at once.
The kind of things I'm asking about are the vita itself (type/model other relevant details), the memory card (do you still need those official snoy cards?) maybe some kind of memory card reader in order to transfer from the PC, or is that done wirelessly now? Any kind of hardware modding requirements or tools, or any specific software (games etc) required to crack the console, and of course anything I haven't thought of yet because I've never handled the console before.

Top to bottom.
There a three major Vita models, 1001 with OLE screen, 2000 with an LCD screen, and PS TV which is basically a PS Vita in a screenless box that connects to your TV.
No, after hacking your PS Vita, you can use an SD2Vita converter that goes into your game card slot for portable Vita models, or a USB drive for the PS TV.
Files can be transferred wirelessly via FTP when your vita is hacked via Vitashell.
There is no specific hardware to get up and running for Vita hacking. For software, the most recent hack which works on the latest PS Vita firmware is Trinity, which requires you to buy a PSP game from the Playstation Network.

In short: Get smallest official memory card + first-gen 3G (best for PSVSD) or first-gen not-3G (second-best). While you don't need an official memory card with second generation systems, those are a distant third, and PSTVs only jump to first if they're dirt-cheap, which they are not generally anymore. Jailbreaking is thorougly addressed in my guide, at present they still haven't fixed 3.70.

If you buy a 1000 model, the fat, you'll need to buy an sd card, but a 2000 model have 1GB of internal memory, which is enough to run exploits off of.
>Or more? I read something about region locked accounts based on the card. The entire thing will be purely a pirate station, but I have a strong interest in raw JP games
You can have more than one sdcard, I've had not problems using a 128gb card, but I would reckon asking someone else who has experience with bigger cards.
You can buy just 1 sd2vita, but I bought two just in case one was dead on arival, now I have two.
Games are region free, including piracy, so no playing a JP game with an NA account wont get you in trouble.
>Specific game or any game?
PSP game or demo is needed to be downloaded if the vita is on 3.69 or 3.70 when you get it. It's part of the exploit. As for tools, use the guide that is in the OP, it's fairly simple and at most took me 30 minutes fumbling around with backing up saves on someone else's vita.

I'm that someone. You can pirate a lot of JP/SEA games and use them on a single American or otherwise account just fine. The most current method for doing so is NPS Browser, which runs on user contributions of their key files and downloads the games straight from Sony's servers.

I use a 400gb microsd card in my main Vita, alongside with an official 64gb memory card (bought since 2015) for PS1 stuff, meaning I have a whooping 410gb total of vidya/VNs with most of them being japanese versions.
I wouldnt recommend this much for the average Vita user, 128GB or even 200gb is far more than enough. No point in buying a large storage and hoarding so many games inside if you're not going to play most of them at any point anyway. The exception is that I use the Vita as my main vidya platform, PC being second I have plans to sell my PS4 after the PC port of EDF5. Migrating SD cards is painless if you start out too small. I'm using 256GB and that should at least be the initial upper bound since it holds quite a few games. To get a better idea you can check NoPayStation's DB since all .pkg files have a size documented. Most of the time they're at least 1GB. Games can't be larger than 4GB due to file system limits but a couple use DLC if they need more as with Danganronpa UDG and V3. Also as noted, SD cards over a certain size (128GB from memory) need to be formatted a particular way or the free space count gets out of sync.

I followed the guide here https://vita.hacks.guide/storagemgr to install storagemgr.skprx. However I have two problems. One, I have no SD card reader on my PC. The only device I currently have capable of inserting an SD card is the Vita itself. Therefor I could not follow the guide https://vita.hacks.guide/storage-format-(windows). On the hope/assumption this is not necessary I went ahead with the rest of the storagemgr guide. However, I don't see the SD2Vita, or I don't know where to see the SD2Vita, in the vita's configuration. The Content Manager still shows the 4gb vita memory card.
So, do I need to buy a reader in order to format the 128gb sd card, and how do I determine if everything is successful and then install games to the card?

Not exactly. Only if you have a Vita on <= 3.60 - anything above needs a PC with QCMA installed. Mostly normalfag things like cellphones and cameras, and I'm not even sure about cellphones. Certain game consoles use them of course, I know the Wii uses a full-sized SD card, but there are a lot of PC only people around here and somebody talking about buying a console is a good chance of not owning any other ones. Plus that's more or less specifically what I asked for when I said "maybe some kind of memory card reader in order to transfer from the PC"
>Only for PCH-1xxx where you need somewhere to initially install apps like VitaShell and Ensō installer.
The thing that's confusing me is that most of the apps (and this is a 1001 vita) installed to system memory, not memory card. Only Enso and Vitashell were directed to install onto the memory card. If what you say is true, I can only guess that system memory simply isn't usable via molecularShell, so we have to go browser>card>system in order to crack it.

The system apps, by definition, have to be on the internal storage, they're mounted to vs0:app/ specifically. You can only install extra ones to ux0: which has nothing without a memory card. Once you have broken though you can configure Ensō on ur0: which can then set up SD2Vita there. Also it is possible to re-arrange the partitions with a particular tool so you can have a 100MB internal storage for recovery, but it's safer to just use a memory card.

The guide needs to be updated to be more clear that you are about to install a far less tested firmware from someone even more unknown and less reputable than the Enso people. firmware that may very well make your vita useless.

(Will probably copy-paste this to the nep thread too since its on-topic there and this thread is about to hit the bump limit)
Finally finished Trillion: God of Destruction.
Took so fucking long for some reason, but I'm really really glad I did so.
There were flaws with the game, but a lot were clearly because of budget constraints. (the lack of animations for combat, and seeing some unique skills and abilities per character would've been quite nice)
It was a very tragic, very sweet experience. I got some Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann vibes from it at times, and I'm sure at least a little bit of that was intentional. What budget they did have though, they put it all towards the script. Holy shit, the sheer amount of dialogue (nearly all of it voice-acted) was insane, but very gratifying. It was an incredibly tragic, very memorable journey.
The dub was surprisingly good, but I changed to subs because I assumed there would just be more that was voice-acted, period and I didn't want to risk getting to a point in the game where the amount of VA'ing fell off, as are wont to happen in IF/CH games.
Excellent music as well. It accomplished bringing whatever emotion you needed to feel at any point in time. The first time I ran out of affection for my first overlord, I might as well have shat my pants when that music started playing. Doesn't get into a lot of the tracks or specifics but there's no way for me to talk about that aspect without spoiling things due to how, generally, the tracks were connected with important, critical or intense moments.
The funny thing is, when I first started the game I didn't really care for the at all because the artstyle wasn't that impressive to me, but you can bet that changed fucking fast. Now they're all quite precious and dear to me. It'd be impossible for me to choose a best girl from this game. I'm going to finish this game multiple times now, and get all the endings because it deserves it.
Something that I really have to give a lot of credit for is how marvelous the world's artstyle is, or perhaps artstyle of all general concepts.
Its so clever and pretty, conceptually the game is absolutely brilliant in pretty much all aspects in my opinion. From the setting pieces, to the characters, to the items, to the menu icons, to even stuff like the underworld lottery machine. There's also a lot of, just very clever little things sprinkled out across the game. Kinda like easter eggs or subtle symbolisms and shit like that. Its just so unique.
Gameplay was fine and fun to think and work around with such an insurmountable challenge. Its not really right to call this a strategy RPG, and it'd be weird to call this a tactical RPG. I would also be hesitant to call it a JRPG in terms of gameplay because of the grid system and the simultaneous turn style. I'm a sucker for flashy animations and I've been spoiled by other games, but this game sadly does not have much in the way of animations outside of some special exceptions which was a little sad. The core gameplay loop was good or at least serviceable though because of the challenges it presented. When you start getting the hang of it and finally understand how to combat, you will feel like a god with your movements and strikes, that is, until you're reminded of your place and have to figure out an utterly new and overwhelming challenge to overcome. The fact that its also impossible to grind in this game was a very good thing in my opinion. There is a timed aspect and I usually hate that, but for this game it fits mostly perfectly for it and keeps the player honest. Though it is possible to save-scum, which I unfortunately did later because of temptation. I would strongly advise against doing that because it actually hurt the story of the game.

The overall plot was great in my opinion. A lot of mystery and uncertainty as to what would happen on the horizon, as well as just in general regarding the enemy you face. The stops, twists and general progression and things that are pulled are sort of incredible to witness. You really get to see what its like to claw for survival, life and hope with literally everything you have. A lot of the characters are partially developed and its a matter of unmasking more about them (Some more than others), but there's still also room for them to grow and its just heartwarming to see it all happen. The main character is great as well. He has a few… traits that could fairly classify him as a harem protagonist, but he's very likeable and identifiable while also being his own, very unique character (as in, not a near blank slate for the character to self-insert like Krono from Chrono Trigger for example) and quite a fitting one for the story. The writing involving him never felt tired or anything in my opinion, and he's not a Gary Stu like a lot of harem protagonists, especially given his.. unique set of circumstances. I liked him a lot more than Joshua from the Trails in the Sky trilogy, for reference. The writing, especially at the beginning was quite fiery. There's also enough male, bro-tier characters to balance things out so it doesn't feel like you're just some guy getting pussy slathered all over your body at all times (not that I would mind that in certain other games but I do think in this case it would hurt the story if that happened). They made a lot of decisions that i liked a lot, and relatively few I didn't. At times it was also unintentionally meta, in a clever way that hits the player. (or maybe intentionally, hard to tell)
A word to the wise though: don't fucking save-scum like I did, no matter how tempting it seems. You will hurt your experience. If you aren't intended to be that strong at that phase in the game, you aren't intended to be that strong. I also played this game very weirdly and… badly, in that I delayed playing for several months at a time because… I don't know. Maybe the game was too fucking tragic.
The screenshots with this post don't do the game the justice it deserves because I'm very conscious of spoilers intentional, unintentional, direct and indirect. Some of the ones I had were fucked up because of the button-combo in the Vita auto-forwarding through some dialogue so that's a really painful shame.
I'm really glad I went through this game though. It was all worth it in the end.

Do NOT save-scum

in fact apparently you might want to be a bit cautious with downloading the Nep DLC, it seems like its a pain to delete without risking one's save data and it might mess with your experience in a tonal and thematic way from what I'm reading online
Also, while I don't advise save-scumming, resetting to try again during your battles isn't the worst idea especially if you feel really unsatisfied with it (its not quite the same thing). Just be cautious about doing it too much.
I would also recommend to save often. I never had a save file issue like some people did, but towards the end I did have around 2 crashes on my Vita, though keep in mind my version was completely unpatched as well; I have no idea if patching or using a fully-updated version of the game brings about any new issues or anything like that

Apparently the DLC doesn't make a huge difference but I might restart with it disabled for my initial playthrough, even if I wouldn't mind having some Neptunias in it. Amusingly I picked the girl who is voiced by Asami Imai who also voices Noire so there'd better be a sub-event pointing this out when I do add it back. On the topic of VAs I am annoyed that the intro has to be played in English, only when you get to the prologue fight can it be switched.
As far as the mock Trillion fights I'm terrible so far, and it seems very much about movement. You weren't wrong about the generally cheap look of the game sadly, but it's not really enough to deter me, I think it looks fairly deep.
>>16714979
I already lost a few in-game days of progress due to the saves vanishing, this isn't unique to Trillion though and I'm not actually sure why it started happening in the last few months. Also I updated the game, and with all DLC I've encountered it's enough to just re-name its respective addCont folder to remove it though it will likely break saves if it adds new stuff. If it's just a graphical mod, no issues.

>On the topic of VAs I am annoyed that the intro has to be played in English, only when you get to the prologue fight can it be switched.
I didn't mind the dub for this game (which is pretty surprising since I don't usually expect much out of Idea Factory dubs; anything involving Nep I automatically assume is shit in terms of dubs for example) even though I ended up switching to subs anyways, but to each their own. It was annoying to not have the option until that point though, I agree with that. I remember being a bit confused and worried it wouldn't have a dual-language option or that I missed it forever or something when I first dealt with that.
>Also I updated the game, and with all DLC I've encountered it's enough to just re-name its respective addCont folder to remove it though it will likely break saves if it adds new stuff.
Here's hoping that those updates fixed some of the typos. While I like to give IFI a benefit of the doubt given that this shit was released several years ago and was some of their translators' first projects along with the script being fuckhuge, there were some typos that did get a little bit annoying. It's very unusual for a Japanese release to come with English subs. Since people told you to get the Asian release it's safe to assume that it doesn't.
c202ef No.16717183
Are there any games (preferably RPG-type) that have switchable Japanese/English subs in any version? It's a fairly common thing on PC, but I'm doubting such a thing exists on Vita. Downloading two versions of the game would be fine if they worked with the same save, but I doubt that's possible. Basically I want to keep practicing my Japanese reading while out of town, and being able to flip to english subs (very) occasionally if I get lost helps a great deal.
Also unrelated but I'm looking for something to fill the gap when I need a break from JRPGs and Vanillaware games. Some kind of action platformer/metroidvania thing would probably be ideal, but I'm not seeing any of those that aren't also on PC (meaning I've probably already played it if I cared in the first place). Gravity Rush MIGHT fill the need but I'm not sure. PSP/PS1 games that can be run through adrenaline are fine too I guess.

Dual-audio is pretty common, but dual-subs is not. The only ones I know of are the english versions of Muv-Luv (and presumably Muv-Luv Alternative), Akiba's Trip 2, Gal*Gun Double Peace. Hardly ideal, and as much as I love Akiba's Trip it's likely to be a bit too much for a learner much like Net High is. Different regions of the same game are considered separate, I don't know if many of them are save-compatible if manually copied between with a save manager, it's not likely. You'd have to test. I'm sure you know of the recurring threads here, they're probably worth asking too.

I doubt most people would use it solely as a music player, and unfortunately unlike the official app this doesn't let you play your own music with games. For that I'll just transcode to MP3 (LAME -V0) and sync with QCMA, which annoyingly, does not have a generic compilation framework. Only ones for Windows/OSX and Fedora and Debian.
Also there is something new. The boatsluts Vita game has a WIP translation patch. Unfortunately it's a Windows-only thing, so I might ask if they can add an XDelta3 option, depends on the nature of the changes whether it's feasable.

Gave a quick test of Daedalus to evaluate whether to add it. At the moment it has no PSVita version so I won't, but how it is at the moment it looks to be a game emulator, and definitely a compromised experience. On the Vita side of homebrew there has been improvement in accessing the graphics hardware, something the Hexen II and Quake ports have been written to use, so the situation may well improve on the speed side.
Also decided to chase through the archives for our older threads too since you can wildcard search with archive.today, there was one thread actually missed, -1 specifically. Hardware wise it looks a lot better, especially the dual joy sticks but even with the better hardware, it lacks any of the big titles I enjoyed on the PSP.
Do PSP games look any better on the VITA and can you remap the controls to take advantage of the second stick?
P4 Golden and some of the collections of the PS2 classic platforms appeal to me, but finding a used on looks like it'll be a pain in the ass unless I go on ebay.

The Vita's most compelling reasons to get are JRPGs and VNs, but it does have a nice amount of good ARPGs (both 2D and 3D), a lot of solid indie ports, a ton of DRPGs, and a good amount of solid SRPGs and anime fighters. It also has some pretty gud rhythm games.
Hell the Vanillaware games alone make it a pretty worthwhile system to pick up in my opinion.
Unfortunately I can't speak to PSP games looking better on the Vita because I've only owned a Vita, never a PSP.

What sucks is that all of those games are pretty terrible on handhelds. Heavy action games like Vanillaware benefit greatly from larger, more readable screens and more comfortable controllers. JRPGs are kind of debatable, but since those are the kind of games you are going to play for hours at a stretch you don't really benefit from taking them on the go.
The best games for handhelds in my opinions are (action)-platformers. Anything from Mario to Megaman to Metroid. They all play pretty well in short stretches (except the oldest ones that didn't have saves), don't require complex controls, and generally don't require very strong readability. Other good genres would be puzzle games or 2d zeldas. All of those types get better focus on (3)DS.
Fortunately I have very little interest in most of them and only bought the vita because I desperately needed something on a roadtrip. Vita suits my taste but confuses my sensibilities.

>vanillware games
>terrible on handhelds
Nigger what. I don't know what you mean by "readable". If you mean text, I've never had a problem with that on the Vita. If you mean understanding enemy telegraphing moves and shit, they're stylized very much in pretty much all Vanillaware games. I've beat both Muramasa and Odin Sphere on their highest difficulties available from the start (didn't play them on the absolute highest difficulty though, those required a game clear and after I finished them I moved on to other games, I'll probably replay them at some point in the future)and went through Dragon's Crown's main story as an Amazon with no problems whatsoever. They've all been great fun, and considering they're 2D side-scrollers I'm failing to see how they wouldn't be right at home on a handheld either.
The argument for JRPGs taking hours-long stretches of playtime is completely irrelevant. No person solely plays on their Vita for only short stretches, and no person would only use it on the go unless you're some kind of weird faggot. Playing in bed or on a couch is a thing very much possible with handhelds, and those take up much more of my total playtime than playing in different or unusual places by far. If you're enjoying a game on your handheld, why the fuck would you wait until you're on the go to continue playing it when you have the opportunity to play it whenever and wherever you choose? (such as like at home where the majority of your free time will likely be). If you're one of those only pick up and play for an hour" types, Dragon's Crown fit that bill better than any game I've ever played anyways.
Action-platformers are fine and well-suited on handhelds I won't disagree there, but saying genres like arcadey 2D sidescrollers don't work or are "terrible" on the Vita either speaks to ignorance, or you just having a… "unique" perspective, to put it nicely.
I own 2 3DS's (old XL and new, along with every game I considered worthwhile for the thing)and in terms of ergonomics and comfort the Vita beats them out handily.
>bought the Vita for a roadtrip because I was desperate
So, what; You only use it when you're on the road or something? I use mine everywhere. I just came back from playing some on it in my bed and posted this.

There are some incompatible PS1 games and a few PSP games compared to a real PSP, but there are some notable exclusives to Vita and OLED is really nice compared to any other handheld screen, for the most part it's an upgrade. As >>16722265 says, PSP on Vita is not like the DS on 3DS where it has to blurry upscale or letterbox, Vita is an integer multiple resolution-wise. PS1 games letterbox a bit though.

"Readable" in this context means actually being able to see and understand what's going on. Not just text specifically, but it's related. Ironically text on modern handhelds is actually pretty good in comparison to everything else on the screen, but basically imagine trying to read a size 4 font quickly, because that's how gameplay feels (except it's the sprites you are trying to "read" and not the text). I've been playing Dragon's Crown, and while the game is certainly good, it's very easy to loose track of my character and very difficult to see any of what's going on, and if I were playing on my normal 30 inch monitors that would not be an issue at all.
Also what I've played of dragons crown so far, it seems you are HEAVILY incentivised to chain run as much as possible, meaning if you only have ~10 minutes yeah you can run one dungeon but it's practically a waste of time in comparison to chaining 10 of them. JRPGs are just the kind of thing you only really have time to play at home, so why not have them on a nice comfortable to look at big screen instead of the dinky eyestrainovision.

Seems the video capture isn't perfect with Adrenaline at least not for PS1, it gets stretched horizontally. It can be sort of fixed via this but it's not ideal, especially for a 2D game.

Also the normal way to do that is with a wolf form slope jump and using the books to get height through jumpkicking. This way is an alternative if in luck mode. Either way you get fairy and that allows you to do the underflow glitch at the shop.

I have decent eyesight so that's never really bothered me. The one time a handheld has annoyed me in that regard is the recent Nep game on Switch because they clearly only designed it for docked mode and some of the text is unreadably small when played in handheld mode. Usually the issue with handheld ports from console is bad performance.

>The fact I can play them wherever I want without being tethered to a chair is really nice.
My computer chair is the most comfortable seat in the house anyway. Like I said the only reason I bought a vita is an upcoming road trip. 10 days with family and very little to actually do, the vita was the cheaper alternative. After that I might finish whichever game I've started and then probably toss it in a closet and never look at it again.

How far off is this, because unless it came with a decently sized memory card you will need an SD adapter or you won't be playing anything. Outside of indie pixel games most at least take 1GB.

>JRPGs are kind of debatable, but since those are the kind of games you are going to play for hours at a stretch you don't really benefit from taking them on the go
On the contrary, you can play those long ass games whenever, wherever. That's the main draw for me and I don't even use my handheld outside of my home. Just pick up and play and put down and forget about it at any time.

>I own 2 3DS's (old XL and new, along with every game I considered worthwhile for the thing)and in terms of ergonomics and comfort the Vita beats them out handily
Your mileage may vary. I got hand cramps from playing on my OLED Vita for an hour and had to get a grip for it. The N3DSXL I got the other day on the other hand I can play indefinitely without any problems. It's different from person to person.

I don't have very good eyes, but I've not had issues keeping up with what's on the screen. Its usually very easy to tell where I am unless maybe there's a second Amazon in my party, which is a different issue altogether.
The Vita's PPI is over 200, it has excellent color contrast abilities on the OLED model as well. I'd hardly call it "eye-straining". Even if your monitor was 4k, the Vita would still have a higher PPI than it by 50%. Its the reason why ultra-low resolution games like Fire Emblem 7 can still look great on handhelds. If your monitor is 1080p, the fuggin' GBA would have a higher PPI than it.

PPI has nothing to do with it. Both the monitor and Vita have sufficient PPI to render everything they need to. It's just a question of size. Keeping track of a shape thats less than 1 inch across is way harder and more straining than keeping track of the same shape that's 6 inches across. Every detail is going to be magnified to 6x in all dimensions, with 36x the area.
There's also the issue of controls. Using an actual full-sized controller is way more comfortable and easier/more precise than using the miniaturized and less ergonomic pads that a handheld has. That makes a huge difference in general, but especially when you need to perform quick and complex actions.

I personally found DC to be sub-optimal on the vita compared to the PS3 or PS4 versions simply due to the frame drops you can get during some battles, Muramasa works great on the vita though.

>during some battles
During every single battle if you have 4 characters, or even just 2 magic users.
