I've seen one of these before, although it was long ago. Always found it a shame that there wasn't anything else, and we could use a little bit of creativity on this board.
So, if you wanna do some creative bullshit that isn't drawing, here's a good place to start. We're not asking for high-quality microphones or even good voice acting or whatever the fuck. This is just for fun.
What program should I use to record?
Just use Audacity. It's free and has plenty of options. If anybody here has a better program, feel free, but Audacity is the most commonly used one.

Vocaroo is the easiest to use. Just click and go. Of course, it does come with the downside of crushing the audio quality down. If you feel like undertaking the extra effort, do everybody a favor and record it in Audacity or something similar.

With Mixtape. moe being dead you can use this site to directly upload your audio files without the quality being reduced to a buzzing mess like Vocaroo. I'll admit I didn't try that hard to find a lot of alternative sites, this one seems to have what you need.
Mind you, people can upload whatever the fuck they want, so keep your antivirus on. Or don't, I'm not your mom.
Of course, this isn't just a place to throw your voice, it's also a place to write out scripts for others to read. Prime shitpost opportunities await, but try to keep it mostly Vidya. If you have some OC you want read out, go for it. Make it double as a writefag thread, fucking go for it. Here's one from Eternal Darkness, for instance

that's not how it went down at all. After Daytona won in the poll, the official thread for submissions was up for a week, maybe two weeks. There were only ever 2 or 3 people who actually submitted a recording. As far as I could tell, out of everyone who voted for it, there were very few people who would even sing it. It was less that the poll was "rigged" and more that people voting for the song didn't lead to enough people singing it.
Hell, the Daytona one was a long time ago anyway. There was a /v/ sings for "Mr. King Dice" that happened after that and that brought in plenty of people and it even turned out all right. The next after that was supposed to be for a Devil May Cry song, but it didn't take off because people just assumed the thread was for talking about the game. So only a couple people recorded for it and nothing happened with it.
The thing is, /v/ sings only works if it's a popular and catchy enough song. This place is judgmental as fuck and a lot of people are self-conscious about their singing voice. If people don't think other people are going to jump in and participate, then no one's going to join in and sing the song. That's why "Nuclear" and "Rules of Nature" worked so well and got plenty of people to sing for it. Unless a song is popular and well known enough around here, it's just not gonna do that well for a /v/ sings.

I've never seen that as a huge issue here. I can see it being an issue at halfchan since they've become much more mainstream, but I don't think I've ever seen more than one or two girls participate in /v/ sings on here. And even then, they could have been traps.
