Hades has only been out in Early Access for half a year, and it's 60% off. Does that look like a successful title to you? Or are they strapped for cash, and desperately trying to make short term gains in an attempt to continue funding development?

The most interesting thing about this API is that it also comes with a (closed) beta feature of hosting dedicated servers in Valve's data centers. Valve might end up hosting dedicated servers for games, which will make it significantly less likely that those games will cease functioning in the future due to servers being shut down for being unprofitable.

Many games suffer from laggy shit (listen) servers, and if Valve is willing to supply decent enough hardware, that would be a thing of the past. Though you can also interpret this as another form of DRM.

We don't really have threads about Steam's changes as they usually roll out in very small increments. But I do get the impression there's more momentum behind Steam's development than there was 5 years ago.

You can only visualise so much, and some concepts aren't even possible to properly visualise, which is why they might have extreme difficulty properly comprehending them or why they do not think about certain aspects. There's a story I remember hearing about some Soviet satellite state getting orders from the Kremlin directly every 24 hours or however often during the Cold War. Every time it would be from a different officer, usually because the previous one was purged, and the orders were never consistent confusing the people and pretty much forcing them to constantly work halfway on one thing and then quit and start something else.
