About to play this for the first time, I got two questions:

1. Should I play the original or Revolutions?

2. Should I play it on hard or serious?

d7bbf4  No.16444302

1) Original

2) Hard. I strongly suspect Serious was made with online co-op in mind.

6ca003  No.16444308

If you're a die hard purist, go for the originals (the source code is available as well), revolutions is more or less gay. HD verisons are an okay substitute and burrows some aesthetics from the XBOX version, but something about secrets and no harpees holding headless kamikazes if I recall.

always stick with

SERIOUS

The problem in the original games is that with normal is that it's too easy, the problem with hard is that the ammo is not adjusted finely to match with the difficulty. Serious in all games are fine enough to play with the autosaves (it usually autosaves before each encouner) but not frustrating enough to savescum through.

Serious's big difference is double ammo capacity and the amount of fucking enemies spawned.

There's Mental but it's usually just Hard but the enemies are invisible, not really a challenge but gimmick. Yeah you do take double the damage, BUT only in Serious Sam 2 do enemies receive increased health (25%, not that bad). Serious Sam is iconic in how many enemies it throws at you and the manic effect of being almost overwhelmed.

Co-op also makes the game more challenging and introduces way more enemies as well.

Could you tell me why I should play the Original? I have played around a bit with both and in the original I got all sorts of problems like the sensitivity being too high even on 1% and all sorts of other things, I don't have those problems with Revolutions.

I also forgot to mention, the fusion port of Serious Sam 3 is even more different than the original Serious Sam 3 when played on hard, serious and mental

>Kleers throw HOMING PROJECTILES

>major bio-mechanoids (big red rocket faggots), can shoot multiple missiles in quick succession

and move around frantically

>Khnums throw THREE fireballs

>Gnaars can sometimes punch so hard, they send you flying

<the last time i played they removed ammo bags

1.) Play the remakes

2.) Try normal first

Play Revolutions

>Better customizability

>Contains both first and second encounter

>Has some neat extras

It's a massive improvement over the original, it's only downside is the "early access beta" watermark which can be removed by tinkering with some of the files.

Also don't play the remakes, they're dogshit.

I really hope they don't fuck up /ss/4.

>>16444314

Really? Stick with Revolution then, even if it's in perennial early access.

d79d00  No.16444519

try normal first, it will go full bullshit mode fast enough. If you keep running out of ammo, switch to Serious mode since all ammo pickups are doubled and ammo cap is increased. Enemies are faster and there's a shitton of them on the other hand. Literally no reason to play any other difficulty.

Here OP just watch this.

954bc3  No.16444777

prepare for tedium OP, these games are some of the most repetitive boring shit around.

Stop shilling this crap Rolland, it's your own fault that you can't sniff out obvious ambushes.

Both are great choices for casuals, cripples and console gamers. You can appreciate the story with less distractions, but easy is even better.

Now that's a wrong opinion if I've ever heard one.

the guy who made the video is actually a fan of serious sam

For a fan of the serious sam games, he sure didn't play the games on Serious.

Try Serious Sam Classic or HD. The original release of Serious Sam has severe mouse issues.

Always play on Serious.

Serious Sam is a flawed game. Most people don't realize it because they save scum, but I always went through the entirety of levels in one go. That makes you notice how much the game thinks it's being clever by putting beginner's traps everywhere. Most of the time you will die because of something you're not prepared for. Enemies spawning on top of you for example. In co-op this happens frequently because of other players triggering ambushes that are meant for somebody 3 ft ahead of you. Serious Sam 3 tries to remedy this by usually putting enemy spawns in places that are far from you, so it's more balanced overall. There's also weird issues like in the original Serious Sam, your gun always shoots to the right, which is a problem when you're up close with a shotgun. Or kleers jumping against walls which gives them more velocity and makes them unavoidable. Or werebulls doing 180s next to you. Serious Sam is a half finished game idea. However, it is pretty unique. No other games really make you feel that sense of oppression from barely clinging on against overwhelming numbers of enemies, and once you memorize the levels, the game becomes fun.

>you will die because of something you're not prepared for

That's what extra lives are for. I didn't even know you could savescum in Serious Sam, I assumed it only had autosaves.
