The characters merely need to be fat and ugly. Then it doesn't matter what they wear, if anything at all. Because then it is (((female empowerment))). If the character is attractive at all then it is objectification.

Gravity Rush 2 was the game that actually got me to put down the money on a PS4, and I'm content with it being the last in the series. I love it too much to see it get butchered by Sony, either in the form of censorship or changing it to the point that it's unrecognizable in an attempt to make it appeal to a broader mass market.
And without a Gravity Rush 3, it's all the more reason (as if we needed more) to not bother with a PS5.

It's a superhero game where you fly around floating Paris. The movement is really satisfying to master and the level design really compliments the gravity shifting mechanics.
4e71bc No.16448163
>>16448093
It is a open-world game with emphasis on platforming, exploration and fighting all using gravity alteration. You change how gravity affects you to "fly", throw objects to enemies or fly kick them, and stuff like "sliding" through any surface thanks to gravity control. Furthermore, controlling the protagonist feels good, fast and fluid, goes well with the gravity shifting mechanics, and in 2 you will unlock more powers, both very fun to use. The story isn't very good, but the characters, specially the main protagonist is very likeable, has quite a nice sense of humor and when the story takes some pretty fucking dark turns at times which can surprise you, very enjoyable. The pace of the narrative is also weird. It is full of side missions, which are well written and feels like watching one of those episodic animes where the heroes have different adventures each episode, if it means anything to you, and it isn't until the climax of the game the gran narrative really advance. This is both good and bad. In one hand, it feels like nothing much happens, but in the other it let you know the character better and familiarize yourself with the world of the game. Also the side stories are fun. Good music and quite a lot of content to play through, pretty good for completionist. I'll say it is a game that, while objectively, isn't a masterpiece nor amazing, it has a lot of heart and the gameplay is very unique. Also I think it is probably pretty cheap now.

Gravity rush always felt like a classic PS2 game to me, something akin to sly cooper or jack and daxter. The combat is serviceable, nothing spectacular, but enjoyable for the game it sets out to be. The story and plot actually held my intention and made me anticipate what was going to happen next. Characters are lovable, and kat is cute as hell organically without doing the japanese thing of smashing you over the head of how moe the character is. Overall its a fucking gem, first game is short and kind of sucks comparatively but it paves the way for the second game where the series shows what it is truly capable of.
The ending where the entire town starts singing kats song and how their support of kat gives her the energy to fight again was a goddamn surprise and almost made me emotional, something media rarely does to me.

yea, since they claim ps5 will be backwards compatible i fully expect ps4s to hit the market for dirt cheap. honestly the difference between ps4 and pro is negligible and non existent for many games.
also, even if you couldnt get online or had it emulated, the base game of GR2 is fully functional with minimal glitches. updates largely just added features and bonus items. bloodborne was also playable at launch but updates nerfed some broken weapons and improved load times. dragon quest builders is also a top tier game (although its also on the switch). the yakuza games are also worth playing and might be worth getting (also fully functional without updates) but it looks like those will be slowly ported to PC. EDF5 is another one but i think that'll get a PC release eventually.

I don't think the second game is a good a the first. Not a bad game and if you loved the first one you need to play the sequel but it's far more experimental and its mini games and boss battles are very hit or miss. If you are trying to 100% Gravity Daze 2 it can at times can wear out its welcome. The combat is quiet ambitiously expanded in the second game and the Lunar and Jupiter Style are great additions but the challenges are not as well designed as in the first game which leads to rather sloppy game play at times that feel cheep and depended on RNG.
That said, its still good over all and in may aspect it improves over the original, but the original is far more consistent and focused. That all said, the end of the second game is quite beautiful. Yet from a story telling perspective their are unfortunately more questions then answers when trying to make sense of Syd's roll in the narrative.
I really can't every advise anyone play the second game without first playing the better original game.

While your free to disagree with my opinion. I don't think you understand. I am saying the second game is not as cohesive from a game design perspective and it suffers due to this inconsistency introducing one off mechanics and one off challenges doesn't allow the player to become acclimated with the game. You are free to enjoy that Katy t3h PeNgU1N oF d00m style of design and find it more challenging but that is a subjective evaluation that doesn't change the fact that the second game is still more experimental and inconsistent in terms of polish.

>What, bar the artsyle, makes this one so unique?
For me, it hits the power-up collection autism button hard. So, if you ever played Crackdown - it's kind of a similar idea, except instead of leaping around buildings collecting orbs - there are gems scattered all over the environments, most of which are obvious, but a lot of them are in really out of the way and unique places which you need to use gravity powers to collect. Like, vertically along the face of a building, across a row of rooftops, or under bridges, or in drainage pipes over an endless void.
So not only is the movement and physics fun to play around with, but you're encouraged to use them often to power yourself up. Starting off, you won't have enough "gravity stamina" to effectively get to all the locations that gems are hidden. This brings an element of "stamina management" to the process, or problem solving as you explore the environment looking for perches you can rest on as you make your way to the gems.
There's also charms you can equip that give you gem magnetism to make collecting lots of them them a little easier to do in a single flyby (though it's still fun to play without it and fling yourself up the side of a building to collect one row, position yourself, and get the other row as you fall back to the street in one seamless movement arc) - and there's also a gem radar charm that pings when there are gems nearby. And because they're scattered along the entire exterior geometry rather than just a more or less horizontal plane - getting into that right position for finding them can be frustratingly enjoyable.
My only complaint is that once they're all collected - that's it. You have to start a new game. It would have been nice if they could regenerate over time, or if (after say, 90% collection) you could reset them in the post-game to earn what was previously Dusty Token locked content.
Also, I'd say it has one of the best soundtracks in games this generation. Not quite as good as Nier Automatas on the high-points, but doesn't have the lows or drop-offs and it's consistently quality from start to finish. It never just fades into the background so you don't notice, but it never detracts or overwhelms a scene either.

I completely agree. Every console generation starts by promising the old stuff, but bigger and prettier, inevitably though, new trends come along to replace the old ones. Around the 6th gen I realised that I just wasn't interested in new releases any more.
GR was such a breath of fresh air when it came out, everything great about those older platformers games, but with such a strong style that it remains completely unique. No recent game sticks in my memory like GR does, I even think of it when I hear early jazz on the radio. A sequel would be great, but the story had an incredible conclusion and I'm quite happy for Gravity Rush to be a gem for those who find it, ratznher than a long-running franchise.
>>16448362
No console is worth it for a single game, especially since there seems to be 5 people who thought GR was nothing more than average for each one who fell in love with it. It's not a game like Bloodbourne you can go into expecting to be blown away, either it connects with you or it dosen't. If you're forcing yourself to play it won't be any fun.

Being natural creators and tool wielders, when men can't find what they want in the world they simply make it.
That is why 2D exists. 2D fills the hole. 2D is the tool men have created to soothe their hearts, because the world is lacking in any other way.

i disagree with your complaints of the game and what you remember of the 1st. maybe you remember it better than it was? its no more/less cohesive than the first game. i dont think having a variety is the same thing as being random, and the first game had plenty of variety in missions; gr2 just added more variety. i cant really think of a single bonus the 1st has over the 2nd. it doesnt control as well for starters, the combat is much more shallow… but if you want to focus on the challenges/missions (which i consider a main focus of the game) gr2 was just "bigger and better"
gr1 is worth playing for the same reason gr2 is; because the challenges/missions are fun. gr2 just has more of them. i felt the missions were of the same quality, except some i liked more because of the added mechanics and improved controls the 2 stealth missions were bullshit though

A new story and character could work, but it'd be difficult. Kat's character fits in well with the game design: she's an outsider that's curious and enthusiastic no matter where she ends up, which is reflected in how the game wants you to just fly around and enjoy things. Sticking her in the perpetual underdog position story-wise is how they keep her personality lined up with all the gem-collecting and side-mission work anyone playing the game will end up doing. The way GR makes the gameplay feel like something the character would naturally do added a lot to the game's appeal.

The glitch I'm getting doesn't seem to be useful, I get stuck "underneath" the city and many normal floors/streets become transparent. I can move around but I'm "trapped" by transparent walls, can't even kill myself. I just started the game and did the first mission where you gather gems to fuel the fountain. I'm still "learning" the movement of the game, so I have no idea what I can be doing besides having sloppy as fuck movement. Both times it happened to me when I was gathering gems on the "lower" levels of the city, not far from that fountain. When I try to get back up the "ground" of the upper areas is transparent and that's when I know I'm stuck.
Next time I play I'll record my gameplay so I can catch what is happening, maybe my miserable luck/shit movement can help some speedrunner autist find something useful.

2 hotpockets. Deleting a post is not a softban, so it doesn't restrict me from reposting (and especially it's not ban evasion).
I'd rather get banned to know why something was deemed deserving moderation and be able to appeal, if I find that reasoning wrong.
I've bought the game, I've played the game and this is literally my opinion of the game.
If dissenting opinion is generally considered inflammatory, then that has nothing to do with my intentions whatsoever, they could go either way.
I'm going to stand by my own opinion and will continue to express it (within reasonable bounds), until I'm either banned or this charade of trying to paint me as a faggot faggotry of which is worthy of a ban stops. I'm not going to extend this part any longer.

Gravity Rush is nowhere close to being an amazing game.
Gameplay is almost barebones, barely making use of the mechanics and 3d space environment.
Plot is shallow and ends at a halfway point.
Visuals are murky and bloomy, landscapes and townscapes range from generic to extremely bland.
The only remarkable things are the concept and the sound design, that probably sets the tone for the entire game.
Basically this is a single playthrough game.
The reason I think the game is as popular is because 1. it was initially released on No Games Portable where competition was weak and thirst for anything remotely good was high; and 2. because /V/ loves his wasted potential games; beyond that it really doesn't deserve the spotlight it gets.
>>16454439
If me, giving you an option of separating yourself from general opinion and speaking your mind freely - is deliberately stirring shit up, then I'd advice you to reconsider things that you support, that you find acceptable and unacceptable, and maybe the environment you currently find yourself in.

Kind of a shame that most artbooks, at least in terms of JP-only releases (which probably includes most Japanese developed games, even ones we do get here), don't get a fan translation treatment, assuming they even get proper scans. I mean, I know in some cases, text layering over an actual image can make it a nuisance compared to separate plain text files with page summaries or whatnot (the issue with working with scans rather than the original files to edit), but about the only vidya artbook I'm aware of to get such a treatment has been Xenogears. But maybe it's just that artbooks are a niche within a niche, and only a small percentage of a playerbase is apt to care when they could just use a wiki for background information or design details instead.
Just bringing it up since Gravity Rush's artbook scans look fairly doable as far as text editing goes, as far as keeping most text over a solid color background, so it's not like there'd be a technical issue holding it back much at the very least.
00b5a4 No.16456407
>>16456260
There's not much text in the artbook itself, only some labels and brief descriptions. The Gravity Days comics and interviews have already been translated.
It might make a good translating + typesetting project for someone starting out, but there's not much point as far as new information goes.

There's so many ways they could have done it. Simply outright unlocking them, rewarding dusty tokens before the online check when you find a treasure chest, or periodically rewarding dusty tokens after story/side/challenge/delvool missions. But no, even any effort is too much effort apparently.

They talk a lot about Toyama's vision for the world and it shows.
Jirgha Para Lhao's marketplace in particular is one of the most lively, well realised areas I've ever seen in a game. Even that large island with the park has a fully developed understory that goes totally unused by any quest. It just goes to show what a passion the team had for what they were working on And plus, the whole place isfull of cute brown girls in bikinis.
Most modern open world games are obsessed with giving the player 10,000 pointless things to interact with, but they still manage to feel empty in comparison to JPL and Hekseville.

Combat in GR2 can occasionally be pretty good. I really enjoyed the Kali fights.
The array of movement options make possible a lot of neat techniques, but there's never any reason to use them during the course of the main game. The mining trench was a great addition because it allowed the designers to be a bit more wild with encounter design and offers players a chance to prove they've mastered the game. Definitely not something to skip completely like the Chalice dungeons in Bloodbourne.

Hearing the Angel Duo's theme for the first time was great. Though taking out Durga first is easy, the fight is a fun challenge in the Delvool Trench if you take out Kali first. Especially if you get really aggressive with the jupiter and lunar styles. The assault break move can be abused to stunlock her for quite a bit. The Floor 48 fight is also fun since it's "spam everything: the fight".
Also fuck that spear/piercer navi, especially the fucking rare variant. That's the only one I can't consistently beat when all other rare navis are fine to handle provided you don't get shafted and accidently summon three of them together.
And the loading. God damn there was no reason to limit the floor level you could warp to to specific mining sites like that. I shudder when I remember the grinding for the ultimate talisman and getting a gravity storm in mining site 0. And when I was grinding accelerator talsimans and getting a gravity storm in toflug reef. It made the grinding for fully upgrading all the weapons in Nier look like a vacation.
