So Blizzard has decided that last year's Blizzcon wasn't bad enough and has decided to one-up that whole "Do you not have phones?" fiasco with this little announcement. To those attending Blizzcon 2019, they are now required to install the AXS Mobile app on their smartphone when visiting the convention, which tracks:

>First Name

>Last Name

>Precise Location (as determined by GPS, WiFi and other means)

>How often the app is used

>What content is viewed through the app

>What ads are clicked

>What purchases are made or not made

>The user's personal advertising identifier

>IP Address

>Operating System

>Device Make and Model

>Billing Address

>Credit Card Number

>Security Code

>Mailing Address

>Phone Number

>Email Address

And guess where all that info is going? Places like Kikebook, Google and the Alphabet companies, and other third party anonymous (((clients))) along with many many others. So yes, they have decided that if you don't indeed have a cellphone then you are not welcome there. The video will go into more detail, but this is already turning into a shitshow.

It's almost the same situation with people not reporting thieves or other criminals. NO

This shit IS a crime. Privacy Violation. And forcing people to accept a crime as part of an EULA is itself a crime too.

Because India is like releasing a game in a different region, China is like another planet. Its a wild west frontier where the laws you live by haven't reached and don't apply. All the stringent consumer protection they spend billions to loopole around don't exist.

Case in point 3 gooks in a apartment ripped the assetts to League of Legends and made a clone that makes 2 billion dollars every month. LoL has no legal rights or presence there so can't kibosh it so its a get away with shit scott free gold rush.

The sad part is people, even on /v/, think western AAA thinks about the western consumer at all. Their PR does because brand loyalty and 'right side of history shit' effects their parent companies outside videogames but in terms of output? look at stuff like Battle for Azeroth. All those new mechanics aren't rpg mechanics. They are mobage mechanics because it was made for their new core audience of the chinese in mind.

I mean fuck, I go to Dragon Con every year and that costs between $85-$160 for a four-day badge (technically five-day, Thursday is moving closer towards being an official day for the con), depending on when you order. Four/five days of a shitload of activities across all manner of interests for considerably less than a two-day marketing event for a single developer's games. Such a scam.

In their early years the company enjoyed a good reputation that was the result of good products and good business practices. After a while the corporate drones at the company learned that they could make more money by lowering standards and screwing customers, effectively turning their good reputation, which is money in the bank into cash. This went on for a while, but once they burned through and eroded what was left of their reputation the company started first to bleed customers and then money, but here's the thing: the corporate nigger is still in "fuck the customer" mode, because that's what made him money.

> This isn't a matter of regular incompetence, it's genuinely fucking stupid decisions

These corporate niggers are like lab monkeys who learned that by pressing a button they get bananas. The corporate drones learned that taking their customers to the cleaners makes them more money, not realizing that it was only possible because their reputation shielded them. When the bananas are gone, they go apeshit.

Of course, but that's true for pretty much every convention. Less that the con organizers have to manage if attendants have to arrange their own lodging.

I live nowhere close to (((California))), so I decided to look at how much it would cost me to go to this shitshow, as an example. Breaking it down:

>badge: $230

>hotel: $475 (the cheapest hotel I could find that was relatively close, booked from Thursday-Sunday since you generally need to budget extra time)

>travel: $200 (airfare, I live on the other side of the country so driving is way more expensive and also impractical)

>Uber: $100 (roughly $50 for an Uber from LAX to Anaheim, would need one twice)

>food: $100 (rough estimate for four days, possibly higher; hotel included free breakfast)

In total, it would cost me $1105 for the essentials alone with the cheapest options I could find. Could save some money by dropping a night off the hotel, but from personal experience, traveling right after a con is never fun, and having a bit of time to recharge is worth the cost. That's not even including additional expenses like souvenirs or booze.

All that for what amounts to two days of marketing. Bravo, Blizzard.

Also, you're not forcing your customers to use a data collecting app. Assuming that isn't the purpose of your software company, anyway.

When you go from selling products to selling your customer's data, you kinda deserve to have your head on a pike for that. Because it's not only stealing, it's not just dishonest, it's also breaking basic human rights to privacy.
