Why do people like realistic looter games so much?
At least in games like red orchestra or insurgency the realism serves a point making a low ttk without all the goofy shit of cod. Even Arma has a bunch of auxiliary things to do like driving vehicles, communicating with other squadmates and having actual objectives you have to follow.
Tarkov, for example, has little actual gameplay buffered with "looting" which is basically scrounging around for T-plugs and the occasional incompatible weapon mod and pretending that it's fun. The "realism" isn't even that important since you can take 5 assault rifle rounds with proper armor.
Almost all of these points apply to PUBG as well, which gained mass popularity with millions of players. I know for a fact approximately 80% of all multiplayer players are irredeemable dumbfucks. They can't possibly get anything else out of these games other than get their shit pushed in, so why are these types of games so succesful? Do they want to larp as an oper8or that bad? Do they imagine they'll be 1337 like their favorite streamers? I don't get it.
