I've only been playing with the Border Team, so I don't know what Reimu's stage 4 is like. But I can never weave through the stars and screen shake with both the speed AND care to survive Master Spark; either I overlook one of the faster stars, or I'm not far enough over in time and get caught in the blast. I also have no idea how to deal with Earthlight Ray without getting pinned every time.

I think they're trying to make it before the moon sets. They can prolong the night and prevent the sun from coming up, but the moon is still moving across the sky and once it sets it's too late to resolve the incident. At least that's my guess.

Okay they're ready. Here you go frien. For Eirin's final spell you have 2 options. One is micrododge hell in the middle or you can nullify the attack by killing the familiars. This is one of the few later stage spells where you actually can completely eliminate all danger by killing all of them, but as you can see in the recording I'm pretty fucking lazy. For Omoikane it's mostly static though it gets pretty fucking tight on the second wave, best bet is to practice your micro kouhai. Normal is pretty much the same just easier I guess???

Speaking of which, her cards are a bitch and it seems incredibly easy to get walled in with nowhere to go and no way of reasonably foreseeing it. If the lasers and stars align poorly for you in Buddha's Stone Bowl, you're done.
Galaxy in a Pot meanwhile isn't hard conceptually, but the next wave of slaves makes it so hard to see the bullets that I always end up dying right after they pass.

At no point in that replay did I ever not know where you could go. I always saw a possible path, maybe hard to make, but always a hope. The vast majority of my deaths to that card have come with me having no idea where I could have gone.
The lasers being so regular also makes a difference; in Normal mode they're (mostly?) fixed, but much more disordered, partly because Kaguya's shooting from multiple locations, whereas in Lunatic she always comes back to the middle. Honestly, the Lunatic version doesn't really look harder than the Normal one. Take this screencap as an example (it illustrates it better than a real-time replay). I've marked in green the directions the circles were taking at the time. I thought all I had to do was move up before the teal circle hit me, but between the vertical lasers on the right and the large ring effect around Kaguya, I completely missed the yellow laser (blue arrow) coming in from the right, too fast to get above. Even if I'd seen it, it didn't even appear until after it was too late to take the right side, and the left side looks like it would have been impassable anyway.

The spells that give me trouble at this point either don't have a trick and are just plain hard, or I already know the trick and find it hard to implement.
That comes back to why I find it annoying that I can't practice her stage. All I have to work with is spell card practice, which is less useful. I don't care about capturing her cards, I care about enduring them. I want to know when she's immune to bombs and when is a suitable time to use them relative to the pattern and duration of the card. I want to practice cooldown phases, which for some bosses have been just as hard as their cards. I want to know how I fare when I face everything back to back, with one shot at each. Spell card practice is useful for playing perfectly, but I'm still only figuring out how to do it imperfectly. Every other stage in the game lets you practice before it forces you to 1cc it, and not having that option for 6B means a given amount of practice takes six times as long.
On the bright side, I did reach her last real card, so it shouldn't take too much more to make it all the way.

Yeah Keine is a special case, she's harder than most games' stage 3 bosses. Fortunately for stages 5 and 6 the game showers you with lives and bombs. To this day I've never practiced most of Kaguya's spellcards, and I've never even bothered with her Buddha's Stone Bowl variants because I have enough bombs to deal with her until her final spellcard comes up which if I beat, I do it by the skin of my teeth.

Oddly enough, after the spellcard practice I've been doing, it turned out the last push I needed was to run through Stage 3 a couple times. I think wasting bombs and lives that early was tending to stress me out and throw me off for the second half of each run. I didn't do perfect there this time either, but I did well enough that I was feeling confident as I moved on to the later stages, and it seems to have made all the difference. I saw both Marisa's and Reisen's Last Spells, which I had never done together in one run before, despite not having done any extra practice on their stages. I ended up finishing with two lives and three bombs to spare. I made a couple painfully bad mistakes in stage 6 and it really ought to have been three lives left.

Music is awful, ufos but even more shit on screen is awful, fairies and bosses keep getting more health on every new game released for some reason, all spellcards seem really uninspired except one or two and the new girls are shit. Touhou character designs were always eccentric, but never really that bizarre. Everyone wore what looked like very comfortable clothing and it was pleasing to the eye. They were like dolls, basically. Yeah, the designs were a bit weird, but that made sense. The Youkai are generally old as fuck and living in a very primitive society (outside of some rare instances or the Kappa). Gensokyo is a land without logic so yeah, fine, dress a bit oddly. The character looks themselves were not odd. Pretty basic, actually. But very cute and down to earth.
New characters are fucking absurd bullshit with none of the warmness of the old characters. These aren't cute girls preparing tea.
Nothing about these characters makes me think "Touhou". If they were in another game by a different artist, I couldn't recognize them as being tied to 2hu.

Don't really get the hate behind WBaWC. The quality seems to be up to par with Modern ZUN, maybe even a little better. I find the music to be as catchy as ever. The memehate behind Urumi's theme is puzzling to me, that was my favorite track in the game. Anyway, to me at least, the characters were as charming as can be. The only gripes I have with the game is the seemingly basic danmaku and reused patterns. Violet Detector suffered from this as well so it's possible that ZUN really is running out of unique pattern ideas. That makes sense given that Touhou is one of, if not the, longest running and most-entried shmups of all time. Burnout will happen eventually after hundreds of patterns, especially since it's only one (1) guy producing them as opposed to a team of professional game developers. Oh well, In my view the appeal of Touhou was always more about the characters, setting and music instead of the danmaku.
