I actually erased that file and started over. I was doing a regular Critical Mode run, but then decided to do a LV1 Critical Mode run instead. My self-imposed rules are:

>specifically customized my party members to do absolutely Nothing in battle and earn zero exp

That way, it'll just be me vs the game challenges. All by myself. No help from Attractions, Donald/Goofy/whoever, and all with zero exp at LV1.

I just finished up Twilight Town a few minutes ago and do ya know what? It's actually pretty fucking fun. I keep dying a lot, sure, but I keep on progressing too. It's fun testing out strategies, learning the enemy's attack patterns, knowing when to block or avoid attacks, and winning battles where even basic Nobodies can oneshot you. I'm probably having way more fun on this difficult playthrough than I ever did on my easier KH3 runs.

My Sora, Donald, and Goofy all have zero exp and are all still at LV1.

I don't expect it to be perfect, but I do expect a sequel to learn from the mistakes of its predecessor. MGS2 is by no means perfect, but it improves on the gameplay of 1 while adding new ways to interact, and new things to do. Each of the Resident Evil games (while all are very flawed) improve on or remove a flaw in the previous game, sometimes making drastic changes to accommodate.

Kingdom Hearts 3 is one of those sequels that reverses the improvements. It doesn't expand, polish, or innovate. It maintains. For a game with such a large budget, with such a big title, it's entirely worthy of being called shit. Of course you can still have fun with it, since you can also still have fun with 1 or 2 or any of the side games.

The reason KH2FM Critical felt easy is because it was carefully balanced to be a more challenging but more rewarding experience. No KH game since has put anywhere near as much effort into making critical mode as fun and engaging as KH2 (least of all dream drop which just makes everything hit harder, take less damage and give you less health). 3's critical mode is certainly the best since KH2FM but it's nowhere near as good or as polished in execution as KH2, simply due to fact that the bosses are designed to be more cinematic and less like a one on one duel as KH2 bosses tended to be.

Just got it. Critical with critical converter is okay. Even during other special shit, like form changes, team attacks, links/summons and whatnot you aren't invincible like with the Disney rides. It's no KH2FM, but it's decent.

The heavens area of Olympus is really fucking small compared to how they made it look in the trailers with the skydiving shit. And there's zero platforms that have to be skydived to in order to be reached.

Everything about the gummi sections of the game is SHIT save for customization and the ability to easily get mythril materials from asteroids.

Many of the end game boss fights come in triples or pairs, but if you die after killing one or two of them the remaining bosses will have full health again. They also get more agressive the less of them there are so the fight doesn't necessarily become increasingly easy. I count each of these as multiple fights for each boss. Ice and Lava titans come together, but don't function that way, so I count them as one boss. The semifinal Xehanort fight has three phases and will start you out at beginning of the phase you died in, but they all use the same health bar. This is counted as one boss. The final boss rush is the series of bosses after the final save point in each game.

Kingdom Hearts 3 arguably has less boss fights than vanilla Japanese Kingdom Hearts 1.

I've 100%ed the game. Overall the game was okay. Not even close to KH2FM, or even KH2. About on par with KH1 in some ways, but still worse than it in several.

Most Disney/Pixar party members have an ability called Team Effort. It costs of a fucking whopping 50 AP and lets you do their team attack at the beginning of a fight. Their AP maxes at 30 at a very low level and the sum of all their other abilities only costs 25. Team effort was supposed to cost 5 AP, not 50. This still has not been fixed since the game came out, since nobody gives a fuck about Disney/Pixar characters' abilities.

They wasted a lot of time making things really pretty in wide open areas with barely anything actually in them. The only world where that attention to detail can really be appreciated is Toy Story/The Toy Box. Previous games were much smaller but they made efficient use of their space. Now there's the added fact that they definitely rushed this game out to make their fiscal year look better. It's why shit like Critical wasn't in to begin with, photo limit was very low, and the secret movie didn't come out until, I think, a week or two after the game. They may say it was "to prevent spoilers", but that's bull. Nobody fucking does that. It was delayed because it wasn't finished. Lots of stuff that would have easily been ironed out with some simple playtesting. You also only visit each Disney/Pixar world once. There's supposed to be DLC coming out that adds a new episode to each world. Probably more content that was originally planned to be out at release. There's going to be both paid and free DLC, but they haven't announced what it what yet. I'd wholly support them releasing Final Mix as a fairly priced DLC, since it's a step up from releasing the whole game at full price like previous final mixes. But you shouldn't be giving Squeenix, kuSony, or Microshit your money.

I thought the combat was alright. The main problem was that they didn't start throwing enemies that required you to play the game until the tail end of the thing. It felt like the game ended right after the tutorial. The only thing that really surprised me about the game was how short it was.

Considering they have exactly 5 points to spare at max natural AP, all the other abilities cost far less, and 50 is way too much for any ability, let alone this ability, it was clearly an error where they added an extra zero. You'd have to give them the second best AP ring in the game or two of the third best to use it.

I can't believe this game was so mediocre that after 100%ing it and posting my general thoughts on its mediocrity, I couldn't even pull out a few adamant defenders of the game who had buyer's remorse.

Iron Rain is fine, but 5 is the one current exclusive that is good to great depending on how much you like the base gameplay of EDF. Iron Rain to the rest of the series is a bit of an apples to oranges comparison. It is very clear that they were trying to do their own thing, based on the basic gameplay/concept of EDF. Iron Rain, in terms of presentation/feel, is the Hollywood interpretation of EDF, as the modern Godzilla movies are to the old movies. You can customize your character, you have grunts with actual personalities beyond spewing death flags at each other well, 5 also has at least one like this and there are human enemies. In other words, more focus on the "human element."

Similarly, gameplay is different and includes stuff like the overdrive, the powered exo suits, etc. So, you can't play as just a generic infantry grunt with really over powered weapons. Air Raider is not a class, and anyone can summon/use vehicles and turrets if they can afford it. The fact that using vehicles and turrets costs money is one of the more controversial aspects of the game; many people feel like it is penalizing using fun options. There are less enemies on screen at any given time, but they are more tanky, and some of the individual grunts come off as more threatening earlier on, and they decided to include an enemy that uses smaller, ground based attacks that you can shoot.

I can't say for certain I like IR or not, or even if it is a good game. It is different from mainline games. Saging for off topic.
