Grim Dawn's latest expansion came out a few weeks ago and last thread is dead, how are your builds coming along? Put together something interesting?

Old thread: >>16336622

<Shill synopsis

>Best modern diablo-like game currently on the market

>Same developers as Titan Quest

>Self-published and not run by cucks

<Beginner tips

>Play on Veteran

>Press 'A' to loot items

>Golden triangle in bottom right of UI increases minimap size

>Lootfilter is accessed by clicking the ring in bottom left

>Don't be afraid of putting components into crappy gear, they can be recovered

>Never sell components of crafting items, the only vendor trash that exists is bad gear

>Don't neglect resistances, getting reputation with factions grants augments which help a lot

>At the start, focus points in your main damaging skill

>grimtools.com is a database with all items and enemies listed within. Also has skill calculator.

<Notable nonintrusive mods

>Grim Internals adds a lot of options such as hovering names and health bars to enemies, autolooting of items and DPS meter amongst other things

grimdawn.com/forums/showthread.php?t=53629

>GD Stash adds an infinite stash through a java program.

grimdawn.com/forums/showthread.php?t=23414

<Shortlist of expansion features

>New class; Oathkeeper

>If you've previously unlocked a difficulty, new characters can start at it from level 1

>Movement augments for medals

>Bunch of new items, rebalancing of old ones and a new campaign

>Shattered Realms is a new endgame farming option which applies random modifiers like The Crucible

<Start on "Shard 1", fight through 3 "Chunks" which are random areas from anywhere within the game

<"Chunk 4" is a boss arena, beat it and you may advance to "Shard 2", you can also leave and collect your rewards

<Checkpoints every 5 Shards, craft a consumable item to start from a checkpoint

<Infinite scaling, better loot on higher shards. Beat time limit (resets every new shard, unless you fail) to get more chests at the end. Time extends by getting multikills and killing strong enemies

I haven't tested playing multiplayer with a pirated version myself but I know for a fact that other anons have reported it working.

Do you both have all the expansions? Version 1.1.1.2? Both characters are either softcore or hardcore?

>>16374742

It severely boosts the DPS of your minions. Do you use a movement augment? Glyph of Displacement and Rune of Disorder are great skills which instantly teleports you, have short CD and don't require a target.

Also you should focus entirely on pet bonuses and getting tanky, it shouldn't be a huge problem if you draw aggro for a bit.

There are also items which grant new pets, some of which have taunt. That might help in addition to your other taunt pet(s).

Wasn't a big problem on Normal but I'm playing Elite right now and my build is falling apart. I have decent resistances but I fucking die to any major boss because they focus me.

I really should be getting one of those.

What's your second mastery to Occultist?

Are all your points in Physique? Spirit and Cunning don't help your pets deal damage and you'd only want them for the purpose of meeting the minimum requirement of some gear but most caster focused masteries have a high natural bonus to spirit when increasing mastery so everything should go into physique.

If you import your character save into grimtools and link it I could take a look and see if you're accidentally missing out on some easy way to get extra defence.

b23822  No.16374892

I'm building a necromancer, got 16 points in Raise skeletons and 12 points in undead legion. 14 points to spare at this point, should I invest them in reaping strike or drain essence? I like having my own army, so I'm going to focus on summoning, I'm gonna get Summon Blight Fiend, I guess saving up more points is a good idea.

You're spread very thin on skill points, you'll want to beef up your pets a bit.

https://www.grimtools.com/calc/lNkoWOdN

<Occultist

>Decreased Occultist mastery

>Boosted Hellhound a bit

>Casual Solael's Witchfire

<Necromancer

>Maxed Summon Blight Fiend

>Got the Taunt ability for Blight Fiend (really nigger?)

>Got Mark of Torment because it makes you really tanky

>Points in Spectral Wrath for resistance reduction

>Casual point in Ill Omen if you're surrounded or want to trigger Hungering Void devotion

>Casual point in Ravenous Earth, the best devotion proccer in the game

>Foul Earth is worth increasing more for its Resistance Reduction

<Devotions

Tried to improve them a bit. Whilst Manticore is nice, you can also get flat resistance reduction from Foul Eruption (upgrade to Ravenous Earth)

>Added Dying God

Simply an amazing dps devotion, even more so for pet builds

>Added 'Ishtak, the Spring Maiden'

Plenty of pet buffs and the Nature's Guardian proc has a chance to make pets taunt targets that hit you.

>Added Revenant

Skeletons, lots of skeletons.

These 3 alongside Shepherd's Call are the 4 main devotions I aimed for, the rest are just the best filler devotions I could find.

You could get Solemn Watcher instead of Scarab for more survivability, but you'll have to skip the optional point in Dying God.

>Gear

I added a bunch of components which you should have access to, check them out for yourself. Notably Silk Swatches and resistance auras to your weapon and off-hand.

Disclaimer

I haven't played a pet build in ages and don't know the 'optimal' setup so judge the changes I made and form your own opinion. But imo, this is far superior to before.

I don't know what pets are the best besides that the current meta pet build is entirely focused on Summon Familiar and shot gunning their orbs. But that might not be what you want to do with your build.

>>16374992

There are other factions which have multi resistance ones.

>Homestead has fire/pierce

>Black Legion has pierce/poison

>Rovers have pierce/cold

>Malmouth Resistance has pierce/aether

>Cult of Solael has pierce/vitality

The skill build itself might still be okay but the main problem is that you put too many points in both masteries at once while neglecting your pets.

Also because I couldn't fit in Manticore you'll want to level up Foul Earth for the flat RR.

So what's a good farming strategy these days with SR being added?

I can pretty comfortably run 70-75 and while it gives me a fuckton of loot, it's also quite the time investment. Running just 1 shard seems to give pretty shit loot

I can also do 150-160 Crucible with + spawns, reset from checkpoint and do 140-150 which gives me a decent amount of loot.

Right now I'm mainly hunting blueprints because I want the 'Mythical Bernoath, Reforged' and try a physical EoR build.

They rework existing sets and udjust/fix Shattered Realm.

>The Boss distribution is getting some significant changes as well. First up, we’ve redefined some of our boss categories and added another so that the progression of boss difficulty feels smoother. For example, some tougher bosses will no longer appear at lower Shards at all. Most importantly for those tackling the hardest Shards, you will no longer encounter multiples of certain bosses at all (no more double Grava’Thul dispels). Overall, we think these changes will make the Shattered Realm feel smoother and more rewarding at all levels of play.

Anyone tried a physical Eye of Reckoning build?

I put this together and would like some input:

https://www.grimtools.com/calc/q2M5zaW2

I'm a bit unsure about the relic and medal, I need one of them to enable dual wielding and the top contenders seem to be Korvaak's Brand (medal) or Blademasters Talisman (relic).

The upside to using Korvaak's Brand despite its poor damage type match is Soulfire and its other stats being decent. It definitely seems like the best medal that enables dual wielding anyway.

It also means that I can choose a relic a bit more freely for some free skill points. Ideally I'd want +oathkeeper skills or +all but oathkeeper ones are either elemental or shield focused and the +all are a bit mediocre. I went for Serenity since all its stats are nice and the gear lacks both chaos and aether resistance.

Other relic under consideration is the Deathstalker which has a player scaling minion with -%10 phys res aura.

Now I've put a decent focus on defence but I'll have to play it to see if I need to shift more into damage or possibly even more into defence.

I believe I have all gear available, just need to transmute some of the Warborn set and craft the Beronath and Serenity.

It has -39% phys from Celestial Presence, -32% from Assassin's Mark, 10% reduced from ring and 40 flat reduction from Warcry.

>You don't benefit from elemental storm devotion

Yeah wasn't sure what to do with some leftover points, I know I wont get the shred but thought the AoE internal trauma damage would be a nice bonus.

>Overleveling squad tactics is very inefficient, you could put those points in rebuke or clarity of purpose.

Those seem pretty melee heavy specs, not that i dislike it but im curious how was the ranged in GD again?

I played some mediocre arpg (Viking something something similar to Victor Vran) a while ago and if you tried to go ranged with it which i didnt it'd be really frustrating at times due to camera being too close by, the game targeting shit when you just wanted to move etc etc.

Also speaking of +movement speed bonus, how high does it get with that soldier+nightblade combo? I've been meaning to replay Titan Quest lately but when i look at it and remember how it was the first time i played it through years ago there's no way im doing anything but warfare+hunting spec just for the sake of +movement speed which was the way i did it the first game just because it's such a fucking slog to run around the game on normal pace ie my interest suddenly vanes as i dont want to do the same thing over again.

deeff1  No.16378833

>>16378790

I don't find ranged that much different from melee except it's more forgiving to be squishy since you can kite and avoid damage more effectively. You can change one of your hotkeys to a move button that you can press to ignore all targeting and just move to the location.

Character movement speed is capped at 135% which most builds can reach through devotions and movement speed on shoes. Soldier and night blade though have special skills that make them charge a target at 300% and 500% movement speed. There are also augments that you can put on your medal that give you a skill that does something similar.

Movement speed is pretty easy to cap 135% these days especially if you have something like pneumatic burst active at all times. If you're looking for fast movement speed then "charge" abilities such as blitz or shadowstrike will always be king and therefore melee is your #1 option for gottagofast. Packing big dick CDR with SS is by far the easiest on top of that but there's also CDR Vire's Might which oathkeeper combos might enjoy spamming through maps for going relatively fast.

Ranged/casters are perfectly fine as well and in the endgame you're doing crucible/shattered realm quite a lot which doesn't require too much walking but you're never reaching sanic speeds in main campaign with those guys. Ranged weapons cannot blitz/SS around so your next best bet would be melee caster weapon + charge ability + teleport rune to go sorta fast.

Also I can't really use the Sigil of the Bear king since I need Korvaak's to enable dual wielding. That means I'd have to use my relic for it leaving me with Blademaster's Talisman.

With Serenity (which also adds reflect damage reduction) + Korvaak's I get +1 to all and another +2 to Soulfire.

With Bear king + Blademaster I'd get +2 to EoR (which I can cap even without) and a bit more physical and trauma damage %.

Serenity + korvaak's is probably the way to go. With 40% reflect reduction you might actually be ok as long as you watch out for reflect heros. Necromancer has the 'Grave Chill' passive which converts 100% of Aether damage to cold, so maybe something with that could work.

Enemy armor doesn't really mean much when it takes so little damage off. Physical resistance is a much greater priority, Calagadra has 90% phys resistance, 50% is highest for only 2 nemesis bosses. Armor has a meaningful effect for the player, not really the enemies because the damage ranges are completely different.

I think there are multiple factors to consider.

Not being able to tie multiple devotions to the same skill makes certain skill based builds more active since it creates an incentive to pick up extra skills used for the sole reason of procing devotions and makes the player push extra buttons.

On the other hand some masteries have no such skills at all (Oathkeeper for example) and if they're not paired with a mastery which does, they become very limited when it comes to choosing devotions.

Eye of Reckoning is a prime example of the latter, even if you use Necromancer or Inquisitor which have Stormbox and Ravenous Earth you're still very limited when it comes to choosing multiple proc devotions. At most you could get away with maybe 3 such devotions, 1 to EoR, 1 to Guardians and 1 to one of the previously mentioned skills.

But if you could tie multiple to devotions to one skill certain ones would become incredibly OP, especially skills like EoR, AAR or Stormbox and Ravenous Earth since they could just shit out infinite procs.

My 'balanced' solution would probably be to let players tie additional devotions to upgrades of skills, unless they're an attack replacer.

Its mostly for weapon requirements and OA. OA is the most important stat for damage. "Increases" for damage do add up, but in the end +100% damage will make you deal 5% more damage when you stack "increased damage" to 2000%.

Pistol and shield Paladin is surprisingly effective, way more survivable than a dual wielding Purifier for example. The flat damage from Safeguard is also so amazing that I end up losing about ~200 dps if I equip another pistol.

Will move onto a Rune of Kalastor and Aegis of Menhir build once I hit 94 and can use the Virtue's Armor set.

well if you're having a massive issue with dps the easiest solution would be swap to a decent 2hander as you don't really benefit from your nonexistent retaliation damage or have anything that plays off your shield. Also drop all but one from guardian and put it in their reduce resistance skill. I don't quite get why you have so many points in rebuke when you have very low retaliation damage, those can be moved to more of the soldier tree, field command would help a massive amount for example. I wouldn't put the points in volcanic stride and tetonic shift, because that's very low damage return for those points at that point in time. You only need one point in resilience.

Your devotions are a bit of a mess, Eldritch fire is doing very little for you, Ghoul is alright, but you'd be better off getting something that gives flat fire/phys than anything else. I don't get the two one off points in viper and lizard.

I mean aside from that the only thing I can say is that you have some pretty bad gear for your damage type. Your belt is doing absolutely nothing for you, you have spellwoven threads which isn't doing basically anything for you.

Rebuke is worth at least a casual point for its flat physical damage. Shield Training does nothing if you don't use a shield. Put those Veterancy points into Ascension. Craft an Enchanted Flint and put on your weapon.

>had to get Hawk

Never feel bad for picking Hawk, all builds need OA and crit damage is always nice.

Fiend isn't as good as other alternatives, get Rhowan's Crown for elemental resist reduction.

Pic is how I'd change devotions without imposing too much on your decisions. Behemoth is fine, probably even more so at your lvl but it wouldn't be my #1 choice.

And honestly, you'll want to switch to a physical build in the lategame when you have access to elemental conversion, or switch soldier to a different mastery such as Inquisitor or Demolitionist for fire or Shaman for lightning.

Stacking Resist Reduction is always a good way to increase your damage output by a significant amount since it has the potential to put enemies on negative resistance values.

And you can't tie multiple devotion procs to EoR but something that is commonly overlooked is that the % chance of procs increases based on CD of the skill. So you can put Meteor Storm (which can only trigger every 3.8 seconds) on Judgement making it 100% chance to proc every time you cast it. The skill itself has a 5sec CD (and there are items that reduce its CD or just CD in general) giving Meteor Storm a high uptime.

I'd tie Rhowan's Crown to guardians, Eldritch Flame to EoR and Meteor Storm to Judgement.

Also getting Fissure from Magi might be a bit more troublesome (it's probably the weakest of the 4 but would probably work decently with Aegis of Menhir. Or skip it and spend it on something more defensive.

a012a1  No.16425288

>>16425259

Get Field Command from Soldier or Judgement + Crushing Verdict from Oathkeeper.

I've heard that 2H weapons aren't ideal for EoR because most of its damage comes from flat damage and not as much from weapon damage % and it's easier to get 1H with attack speed %.

Though I'm sure it's perfectly fine for lvling since you don't have access to some of the really good gear.

With that in mind, absolutely get the Kraken devotion for now. Not only does it give you 20% attack speed but it also has X% to all damage nodes which is good for you since you're currently not able to convert all your damage into a single type.

Drop Scholar's Light and the optional from Ghoul (+15 spirit, +15 physique, +15 DA), add a blue point to the crossroad and spend 3 points in Kraken to get both 10% attack speed nodes (you can afford this right now). After that I'd probably finish Kraken.

Meteor Shower is great and worth working towards after that. And again, do not remove Eldritch Fire for the sake of Meteor Shower, use both and tie Meteor Shower to Judgement when you unlock it.

Anyone cared about the lore?

I really enjoy the setting so far. It kind of reminds me of the Malazan novels. There are so many similarities it makes me wonder if the writer read the books too.

Black Legion and Bridgeburners are both expendables that turned into an elite division of the emperor through being battle hardened and natural selection by the harsh conditions they went through.

The way magic seems to work is kind of similar to how warrens work in Malazan. Arcanists seem to draw upon the magical power within the realm the Aetherials inhabit itself, followers of the Three draw upon the eldritch realm to name a few.

The way the Three usurped the eldritch realm, can be paralleled with how it was possible to ascend to godhood by claiming the throne of shadow.

Talking about Forgotten Gods, it positively surprised me.

I didn't expect that the faction you could join in homestead could actually turn into the main antagonists despite what was revealed with Kymon's Chosen quests. You start becoming less wary of the shady Three just to learn Korvaak was actually not as bad as you thought he was.

Now I'm left wondering how much Dreeg actually sees and how much of their plans actually are to the benefit of humanity instead of their own selfish needs. It really seems like Korvaak had a much better chance fighting C'thon or the possible threat of Yugol when even in his weakened state and being chained he managed to kick out all Three with just a few worshipers.

But this time aliens and demons from hell invading at the same time. But thankfully half of the demons from hell come back on the side of humans, because they want to eat them later and because they hate aliens a whole lot. And some aliens decide to stop bothering humans because fuck everything.

Black legion did not turn elite, they just survived.

>I didn't expect that the faction you could join in homestead could actually turn into the main antagonists

It was revealed pretty much from the start. And Eldrich Sun is not the main antagonist, Chton is. And half of faction worship different devils.

Also all of them bitch about "humans need help from satan to defeat supersatan! They will help us! But not now, later. This time they are busy. But now you go and kill satan and defeat alien army. And than gods will help us, probably." If they had any logic they should start worshiping protagonist. Even fucking modrogen "I am busy standing here, so go and clear my stuff for me, thanks."

>Black legion did not turn elite, they just survived.

They survived because they're elite. The Black Legion are criminals turned soldiers through mind control magic. They are 100% completely loyal to the emperor because of this. If you talk to the captain in homestead she tells you she is even aware of this herself but doesn't care and at one point she was kidnapped from the black legion by her former family but escaped and returned to service. They would die for the emperor without a second thought if they thought that was the best course of action.

>And Eldrich Sun is not the main antagonist, Chton is.

The end all, be all antagonist is Yugol, which is basically a black hole threatening to eat everything and only gods can stave it off. You learn this in the shattered realms notes. Shattered realms is what happens when your planet has no gods to fight off Yugol. Yugol is the reason Korvaak was concentrating on recovering his strength before he got betrayed and is also what he alludes to with his final words after you defeat him. Chthon is basically super Ravager.

>it would be nice if they recognized the fact that protagonist done more than everyone else combined.

Read Creed's journals. In one of the last ones he speculates your character is on the path to ascension to divinity. Mogdrogen as you mentioned asks you to clear his precious grove for him. If you talk to him again later after forgotten gods, he says some stuff about how the three have tricked you for their own gain and, if you resurrected Ravager, so has Ravager. He has even more dialogue if you killed Ravager afterwards. It's also not like other characters aren't doing anything. Particularly, Ulgrim kills the loghorean after you banish it back to the void. The witch cults are fighting korvaak's chosen and eldritch beasts through out the expansion and in the base game you frequently find death's vigil/kymon's chosen fighting each other, aetherials, and chthonians. It's a shame there aren't more notes similar to Creed's journal that shows the thoughts of other characters after you meet them or perform great deeds.

>"humans need help from satan to defeat supersatan! They will help us! But not now, later. This time they are busy

They probably actually are busy fighting Yugol or something similar. I think in the note Korvaak drops it mentions most of them went insane or something after a big war and Korvaak was one of the few that made it back to Cairn.

What do you think is the best class for playing with a single mastery? I've always choose two so I'm curious about how using just one would go. The loss of the extra stats might be annoying, but I think a lot of classes would be fine on their own. Oath is pretty solid, necro would probably be fun, soldier would probably be a little boring but fine. I haven't messed with arcanist or nightblade so I don't know about those.

Leveling a Cold Infiltrator (Inquisitor/Nightblade) caster right now. Night's Chill and Aura of Censure reduce resistance by a ton and with the new scarab shield with added elemental damage to censure aura I don't even have to attack anymore. Just running through hordes of enemies popping in 2 ticks and proccing a ton of chance on attack/hit shit I'm also wearing.

I need some advice on gearing my Fire EoR Paladin. The issue I'm facing is capping both EoR and Soulfire at 26/26 and 22/22 respectively while also minmaxing the other equipment.

The two bigger concerns/issues I've run into are the 4-set Justicar Guard bonus and Ignaffar's Combustion Relic. I want both of these (ideally) but don't believe it's possible to max EoR and Soulfire at the same time.

Quad-posting because I'm retarded. The first and last build are basically identical besides the swapped relic and me not optimizing the augments/components very well on the former.

Updated the two I consider top contenders. Also switched the optional point from Ulzuin's Torch to a casual Empty Throne for 15% stun resistance.

>25/16 EoR with Ignaffar's Combustion

https://www.grimtools.com/calc/mN44pQQN

>26/16 EoR with Serenity

https://www.grimtools.com/calc/wV14pGM2

So it all comes down to how much much dps I lose for missing 1 point in EoR vs the tankier build with less -10% less RR, ~6% attack speed and ~40% less fire damage loss but with +1 to Oathkeeper.

Honestly leaning towards using Serenity since I don't think damage is my number 1 concern.

Also wondering about weapon components. Maybe it's worth using two Seal of Blades on both weapons for its lifesteal effect. Thoughts? I'd lose dps but gain a decent amount of tankiness both through lifesteal and its armour boost.

Alternatively I could use one Seal of Might instead 2 of Blades for the 4% physical resistance (and minor damage boost due to me converting physical to fire).

Maybe a bit late of a reply but Shield Maiden and Obelisk of Menhir are MVP when it comes to shield-only Devotions.

I've personally played with the concept of a shield on a Warlord EoR build but it's really hard to fit it.

Ideally you'll want to go physical (since Soldier offers no elemental synergy) and the best EoR set for that is the Warborn Bastion

https://www.grimtools.com/db/itemsets/104

Now comes the problem of converting all that elemental damage to physical. And the only realistic way of doing that whilst using the Warborn set, is to dual wield a Beronath.

https://www.grimtools.com/db/items/9466

As for your current build:

You need to stop being such a jew, use components on all your gear. Doesn't matter if they're somewhat shitty, everything helps.

Do you still not have a single faction at revered? Make it a priority to get at least one to that for those armour augments.

Get 12/12 Squad Tactics.

Bump up Judgement a few points for quality of life, its AoE increases a lot.

Scars of Battle can be a decent survivability investment (8 points away in soldier tree).

If you want more HP, Haven is solid.

It's always easy unless you're using sub-optimal builds or lack proper gear. There's a lot of level of difficulty for content. I'm not talking about normal or elite. Shattered realms, crucible, and superbosses are all fairly challenging. If you can't do those then nemesis or roguelikes are less challenging but still give something. And below those is just basic boss farming which would be the lowest difficulty.

3a43b8  No.16437477

>>16435867

The normal campaign is mind-numbingly easy all through veteran and most of elite. The gap between elite and ultimate is fairly large, though. I could facetank Mad Queen on elite easily, but can't kill her yet on ultimate. Mogdrogen is killable on elite, but only highly-specialized builds can take him on ultimate. Likewise, other bosses require lots of preparation too. Shar'zul reduces your fire resistance by 80% or so on ultimate, so you need to be hugely overcapped. Gargabol or w/e his name is, last boss of Ancient Grove, in spite of moving slowly, deals huge damage so is very tough for non-tanky melee builds.

Also, gladiator crucible can be extremely hard for some people. Plenty of other stuff that's hard, as well.

The main story bosses aren't nearly as difficult as some others, though. Ultimate Theodin was a breeze, same w/ ultimate log, etc.

So, if you're judging it just based on normal/elite difficulty, yeah it's very easy, but it does get harder.

Nah class setup just determines which damage type your build is suited for.

<Oathkeeper +

Soldier = physical /w Warborn set & Beronath (dual wielding)

Shaman = lightning /w Cyclone set (melee & caster off-hand)

Inquisitor = fire /w 2x Alladrah's Spellblade (dual wielding)

Demolitionist = see above

Occultist = chaos /w Mythical Wrath of Tenebris (two-handed)

Occultist = acid /w Mythical Agony + ?

Nightblade = cold /w Mythical Gravetouch & Chillheart (sword & board)

Shaman = bleed /w Mythical Scion of Crimson Wakes or Gutsmasher

In my opinion, Soldier, Shaman and Inquisitor are the best. I've played around with the grimtools builder a lot but only played Soldier and Inquisitor EoR builds.

I believe that the strongest builds are those focusing on something that Oathkeeper has -RR for. Those being physical, fire, bleed, vitality, poison & acid. But I question bleed EoR builds since you'll generally want bursty sources of bleed damage, not small consistent ones.

At 12/12 before calculating + damage % it does 60 fire damage and 65-84 chaos damage. These split into on average 6 additional damage sources. That's 360 fire damage and ~450 chaos. It's the biggest DPS increase you have access to.

Also more damage sources makes it easier to proc devotions tied to the skill itself and items which grant on-hit stuff like your amulet and relic.

>Yeah I can't stand still, I keep running and teleporting around to get away from danger

Build tankier so you can actually stand still for a while. All bosses aren't really kitable due to their speed. And having to constantly run severely impacts your dps, so you can see increasing survivability = increasing dps.

Shields are perfectly viable for gun builds if you find one with ranged bonuses.

>>16438924

I probably hammered you on this in the past, but unlock augments. It will increase your DPS and survivability a lot and is an easy task to accomplish. Just run some bounties.

I'd probably recommend starting with the Witch Gods in FG since you can grind all 3 faction vendors at the same time.

You can switch the gloves Component to Restless Remains for that sweet 3% lifesteal.

For Warlord, I'd recommend going for a physical build, you can see mine here >>16438816

Yeah you have over 1k fire damage % bonus compared to your 260% physical damage.

The Firestrike skill itself deals 123% weapon damage with an extra ~60% physical damage.

Meaning your mainhand Firestrike deals 92-412 physical after damage bonuses.

The 41 fire damage on Firestrike becomes ~450 after applying your fire damage bonuses.

The 60 fire damage from Brimstone becomes 660. But also shoots out ~6 other fragments each dealing 660 damage.

The ~75 chaos becomes 253.

With this in mind and the fact that you have more fire resistance reduction (32 flat + -23%) and the fact that physical gets mitigated by armor (meaning since you don't stack physical damage hard enough, some enemies will take barely any damage at all), a single point in Brimstone does more for your damage than a single point in Firestrike.

You have abilities that make them die faster, and you try to get loot which has bigger numbers to make the game easier. GD does have a plot and some pretty decent world building though. Diablo clones are a hit or miss, I've beaten TL2 once and had no interest replaying it and same goes for PoE but the gameplay of GD brings enough variety to the stuff you can do that I can load it up any time and either try a new build or push an existing one to its limit.

The only thing that kinda bothers me about GD is not randomizing zones for a bit of variation, so replaying them gets really tiresome when you're on your tenth or so playthrough. At least you can finally start in higher difficulties now.

I like popping things, leading them into traps, charging into a mob with a shield and then bashing or cleaving a bunch into oblivion. If Diablo 3 did anything right, it's turning dead enemies into lighter ragdolls. Shit's hilarious.

The goal for me right now is just to finish all the quests I've accumulated over 2 playthroughs and maybe getting a Mythical gear set. Grim Dawn in particular offers 3 ways to grind for those: skeleton key dungeons, the Crucible and now Shattered Realm. You can also just grind regular enemies, but that takes too long.

Are do specific monsters drop specific set items? I keep reading about people hunting for Warden's set, but I'm eyeing Ulzuin's Avatar.

>>16439384

Both Grim Dawn and Path of Exile have high tier story elements and lore. I wouldn't put it at top tier because of how edgy it can get, but it's leagues beyond anything Diablo or Torchlight have to offer.

I don't understand how weapon dps is calculated. I know weapon dps is different from the real DPS you deal on a daily basis, but at first glance, all the numbers on Mythical Adversary look higher than on the Brimstone repeater, even with set bonuses and add-ons in mind.

The way I tried to brute calc it without adding in offensive ability because I have no idea who it works, I deal roughly 900 damage per shot plus bonuses, while Adversary deals 3300 damage plus cunning bonuses plus offensive ability plus whatever add-on I'll slap onto it.

I hope this is the last time i ask you guys for help, I probably would've given up on this game at lvl 60 without your tips.

Depending on where fire strike skill is at, you lose about 8%WD on your main attack without those 4 points. You're also comparing a weapon with a 225-282 damage spread to one with 196-543, almost 100 points more on average. That's not to mention that all the damage boosts are probably for fire, which just magnifies the difference. Like every diablo clone that has come before GD it pads out the amount of content it has but running through the campaign 3 times on the 17th character you're building becomes tedious so you can skip and go straight to the hardest difficulty it if you like but its not mandatory or anything. First time around you're still gonna be experiencing the game without difficulty skip so you can make your mind up on how you wanna go about it afterwards

The replayability comes from crucible, shattered realm and the hardest ultimate difficulty content so you're not getting much out of normal & elite once you've gotten gud

I know they nerfed the Cyclone set (which is justifiable) but they should have left the skill itself and Warborn alone.

The real problem with EoR is that even though there are plenty of items to support various EoR builds with different damage types and class combinations, they're for the most part not that amazing.

I'm going to try to put together a cold Dervish EoR build next with Mythical Gravetouch and Chillheart. But I don't know if a shield actually improves your defence when you're forced into Nightblade which as a class offers far inferior skills for tanking damage.

Ultimate (hell-level) difficulty kicked my ass several times, and there are still a few bosses I cannot manage to kill on either of the characters I've gotten to max level.

Also once you've gotten to Ultimate (or Elite for that matter) you can send a token to a lvl 1 character and have them start on said difficulty immediately which greatly increases the difficulty but also lets you get to lvl 100 in a single playthrough.

Been fighting with the devotion builder for a while, would really want to get that last optional point from Dying God without sacrificing Spring Maiden, Shepherd's Crook and Bysmiel's Bonds. But can't seem to figure out how, if it's even possible.

Fair enough, the first linked build can use Bat and Fiend interchangeably since their cost and granted affinity is the same.

So Fiend for more skele dps and Bat for more skele survivability.

What the fuck am I casting?

Is this a lvl 100 bonus or something? I'm pretty sure none of my gear or add-ons have a "spikes from target shot based on damage/projectiles received" spell.

I recognize the effect but can't put my finger on it, maybe from a component? Import and link your character and I might be able to remember.

On a side note, the Grim Internals developer mentions that keeping the DPS (both incoming and outgoing I'm guessing) meter up reduces your FPS. Didn't realize this at first and just thought I'd point it out, but maybe your framerate is fine.

Yeah, I've read about it, but I'm so adjusted to the shit factor it's not even noticeable. I've played through Halo 3 without sound and Diablo 3 at 12-20 FPS

That's brimstone, it only does that when you use a ranged weapon. Do you guys just take spells randomly and don't read what they do at all?

See, I reached lvl 100, unlocked Brimstone, tabbed out, forgot all about it, tabbed back in and only started noticing a few minutes later.

Keep in mind that any devotion with %WD loses that weapon damage when you put it on a pet.

Source. I can't imagine that being true anymore since they added weapon damage to a lot of pet skills.

Anyone else found a new appreciation for the Shattered set after they moved the +1 to all from the amulet to the 4-set bonus?

Didn't consider it worth using other than the amulet before but its defensive stats are really solid if your build doesn't have a great synergistic set out there.

I just wish they buffed the amulet a bit, maybe add some life steal.

Want to make a pet build with Necromancer since I love having a large amount of minions. Should I pick Shaman or Occultist as my secondary mastery? Leaning towards Occultist.

241167  No.16457612

>>16457567

Does not really matter that much since you probably will put most points into necromancer anyway. And I personally disliked shaman pets.

adbf14  No.16457614

>>16457567

I have one with occultist that works pretty well. Curse of frailty and blood of dreeg are very useful, and I don't have many points in the familiar or hellhound but they seem to survive pretty well either way. Not sure how Shaman stacks up as a secondary.

>>16456927

They are fun for sure, not sure I'd call them OP though from my experience.

deeff1  No.16457648

>>16457567

Either is fine but overall I think shaman is a bit better. Flexible with exclusive skill, modrogen's pact for flat damage, health, and resists, Briarthorn's aura, primal spirit, and stronger resist debuffs. Occultist has aspect of the guardian for easy acid resist and tons of flat damage through pet auras and blood of dreeg but they are all different damage types. There's also the all in one debuff that is curse of frailty. Bonds of bysmiel and manipulation are only really useful at low gear levels and hellhound is pretty meh.

What's the best Aegis of Menhir build?

To me it seems like there are 4 clear paths to take.

>Soldier

Physical with Octavius set

>Inquisitor

Fire with Virtue set https://www.grimtools.com/calc/qNYxgQ4Z

>Shaman

Lightning retaliation with a mix of different stuff

>Occultist

Acid retaliation with a mix of different stuff https://www.grimtools.com/calc/m234M04V

To me it seems like retaliation has the most potential, the Occultist I put together gets 61% retal to Aegis of Menhir. With Blood of Dreeg up I reckon I get a bonus of 36000-48000 acid damage to it and it has ~1700% acid damage bonus.

Really tempted to make Sentinel now.

Demo/necro+Oath is a best build - you can clean endgame bosses liek a Calladagra.

28e405  No.16461660

>>16461560

You mean in general, not Aegis of Menhir specific?

I find my retaliation warlord to be pretty good at facetanking endgame bosses.
