Because playing with yourself can become boring but online can die.

What sort of games did you play with others, if any? There don't seem to be a lot of good local multiplayer games anymore or games with good multiplayer at all. And because of how personalized single-player games are becoming, it's more difficult to try and take turns with some.

Do you have any fond memories? I always liked going to rental stores and trying to agree on which game to pick out with my brother and then having our neighbor come over to play it with us. Never liked the sort of multiplayer games that require you to unlock everything though, but perhaps they knew that would make us buy it rather than rent. Wish some games would quit focus on being a multiplayer game specifically, but I always appreciated the games that had multiplayer modes even if they were robust.

Mario Party 1 through 8. And just that. All of my friends and family were some of the casualest plebs I knew. Anything more complicated than Mario Party minigames confused the fuck out of them.

I was the only kid around with a Gamecube in elementary school so I would invite classmates to play Melee setting up a spare TV in the apartment hallway.

Ironically, my brother and our neighbor friend couldn't into Mario Party, it was always my sister and her friends who were willing to play it with me. But she wasn't exactly a "casual" or at least not as brain-dead as the Wii audience was when it comes to games. Although she doesn't seem to understand a lot of context sensitive games like Smash Bros. I remember going with to her friends house because her friend happened to have a brother "around the same age." We'd take turns playing Guitar Hero, Pac-Man World 2 and some of the arcade games in that and in Namco Museum. I think a lot of multiplayer games benefit from having a more arcade-like structure with either both co-op and competition. I think arcades themselves would benefit if they utilized more multiplayer or team mechanics.

Platformers used to be easy games to take turns with. If you missed a jump, you'd switch. Complete a level, you'd switch. Makes me wish games were more segmented and difficult, now they're all too easy and seamless now. I specifically hate Mario Odyssey for this reason, you can't switch "every moon" because they're everywhere and you can't switch "every 5 moons" because of how nonexistent their values are to each other. Anyways I really appreciate structure and segmentation in games, even when I play single-player.

Towerfall, the base game is cool for 2 players, the DLC is great for 4 persons.

Likewise, Guacamelee 1 is great for 2 players, while Guacamelee 2 expanded to 4.

As long as you don't buy the games since they are part of the indie cliqie, and more importantly, ANITA SARKEESIAN MAKES A GOD DAMN CAMEO THAT LOOKS NOTHING LIKE HER AND IT'S ACTUALLY HOT

I love playing online but I do not understand why companies these days can not have simple co-op options. Nintendo seems to be the only fags that still do it and that sucks balls for me as a PC owner.

Anita Sarkeesian if you get past the fact that she is fucking brain dead and has a big jew nose is kinda hot in a geeky kinda way. I wish she would get struck by lighting and fucking die but she does look after herself and is not a fat fuck you gotta give her that.

>Tales games on co-op

Still playing them nowadays with my brother. Fun times - having a laugh at skits and weird plot twists followed by crazy comboing and getting stomped on by bosses.

>Mario Party

Haven't played many of them to be honest, but did give it a few whirls with bro and school buddies.

>Dokapon Kingdom

Move aside, Mario Party - this is the shit. Played a lot of it with uni friends and bro. This is the true 'friendship destroyer', even Atlus said in their marketing.

>Crash Bash, Crash Team Racing

The reason to own a multitap for the PS1 (aside from Tales of Eternia/Destiny I suppose…) Here's hoping that Nitro-Fueled does it justice, and Crash Bash remaster is on the way

>Goldeneye

The n64 original I only played at a cousin's house. The Wii reimagining however, did see some constant use when I finally had enough controllers to mix and match. Got even a few school friends that don't play vidya to join. (Sucks that the PS3 version doesn't allow controller mix-matching, and motion control is only available on singleplayer).

>Beat 'em ups

A classic. SOR2, SORR, Scott Pilgrim (thank god for CFW).

Used to do game nights on Fridays and Saturdays until about 2 or 3 AM about half a decade back. We'd mostly play Mario Kart: Double Dash, SSBB, and Mario Party 2 or 3, switching out occasionally since there were five of us. Also used to do three player Tales co-op with the ones that had interest earlier in those nights, before everyone would meet up. But that's the past now, and the bulk of them either work full time, moved away, or decided that it wasn't worth their time to hang out anymore. Only one of them left that I see regularly. Two player competitive unfortunately tends to get boring fast in my experiences, and while I did get him into Tales as well for two player co-op, we've not only run low on games to co-op, but his PS3 is also having issues, and he never wants to leave his house so coming over to play stuff isn't much of an option. He does say though that when he gets his system fixed, the first thing he wants to do is co-op Dragon's Crown, so there's that to look forward to down the line.

Towerfall wasn't so bad when I played it, but it's literally Super Mario War with arrows, pixelshit cuck edition. I can't imagine it'd be hard to just add arrows to Super Mario War and instantly have a better game for free without the cancer.

>big jew nose

>is kinda hot

Doesn't compute, anon. I always thought 90% of jews are ugly before I ever knew they were jews. The other 10% are crypto as fuck, having like 1 minor or even 0 physical jewish traits.
