XV is confirmed for 2020. As long as the roster is fucking huge like XIV and they don't bring back auto-combo (or atleast let you disable it like FEXL does) I'll be happy.
Also they need to bring back teammates in the stage backgrounds and make an Alpha Denshi Corp. team already with Load Ran/Elta/Joe Kusanagi (or Kisarah Westfield if they want more waifu bait).

KoF95 still has some of the best gameplay on fighting games when it comes to semi-retro standards, attacks actually feel like hitting hard.

snk fighting games are great but good luck beating them. dont play them for that. play it for the sweet combat and enjoy learning the mechanics. i like them so much more than capcoms fighters. just the feel it feels right theres a handful of bad games just torrent up the whole collection and play year by year. its the best arcade fighting honestly.

the gba games are fun i wouldn't buy cause it emulates so well. however their worth the time. they have simplified move sets but some retuning. charcters can be a little op but thats part of the fun. Id honestly recommend the neo geo pocket games hard the remixes of those feel super tight. both kof games on neo geo pocket are awesome. so are all the others. also if you havent gone full on into it play kof year by year youll be amazed how much the changes effect it.

I love KoF but I wouldn't play any of the GBA/handheld ports. Gets fightcade plus the ROMset and play 98UM or 02UM on there. You'll get your ass kicked by a lot of vets but you can play the CPU until you get the basics down. The netcode on fightcade is better than any of the console ports.
XIII was the last game with sprite art and is pretty /comfy/. XIV is the first game with 3D and still has a pretty active community playing it online.

KoF XIII sprites are not the greatest sprites of all time. They are the equivalent of 3D models since they were rotoscoped and the lack of fluidity or character stretching traditional animation has. You wouldn't be able to do something like Darkstalkers character sprites or Twelve with SNK's animation style for XIII. I would say it kinda works with KoF more because characters are more grounded and realistic than other fighting games at the time.
Also projectiles were also done with 3D model pictures and some of it looks out of place compared to the 2D sprites that are on screen.

I've been getting back in '97 and I just found out that if you make a certain team with certain fighters you get an ending which is different from the original character's team's ending. I just put Iori, Kyo and Chizuru in a team for fun and it has the best (canon) ending holy fuck
