Is there a game that appeals to you on a level that wasn't necessairly intended by the game creators, or at the very least was a side mechanic rather than the main mechanic? Something that isn't necessairly not allowed in game, but something that uses game mechanics in a slightly less conventional fashion?

For me it's farms and moving machines in Minecraft. I was never into Minecraft too much until I realized that some resources can be replicated infinitely by creation of farms, which had to be specialy created structures that would use the game mechanics to my advantage so that I could gather infinite amount of desired resources. A game like Factorio is based around a similar idea and making things effective, but it is for this very reason that I wasn't very interested in Factorio. It is the fact that Minecraft doesn't focus on this industrial-esque aspect that makes it so fucking appealing to me, because it means that I have to fuck around with the game mechanics to accomplish what I need instead of just playing the game well. Making an Iron Golem farm for example feels like exploiting something that wasn't supposed to be exploited in that way, same with a villager breeding farm or any other constructions of this type. The very idea of resources that seemingly should be finite like iron or gold being replenishable if you bend the rules of the game a bit is fascinating to me. I'm not very good at it yet, and right now can only learn and copy designs of other people, but I hope that after I create farms for basically everything I want to get, I will start to make them more and more complex and automated, learning more complicated designs from other people until I will be able to create my own. This finally motivates me to learn how to properly use redstone and build stuff in general to have a reason to create those materials in the first place. Due to the fact that I want to have an use for those materials I'm starting to get interested in other areas of the game like building, that I was never very adept at which motivates me to learn about architecture. I feel like I've finally understood what you guys meant when you said that those games invoke autism in you, I just had to find an element that I enjoy enough to get autistic about.

Transport Tycoon Deluxe was never intended to facilitate this level of networking, but the open source community added a different physics engine to trains that made it possible and opened up some very interesting possibilities.

factorio and openttd gave me a taste of train autism

For the most part, I never give much of a shit about a game except about how much it allows me to build something pretty. Efficiency in a game like Factorio always takes a back seat to aesthetic considerations. I do shit like putting copper cables on belts because it looks cool as shit to have thousands and thousands of them whipping by on giant highways of belts. I arrange factories based on how good they look, not on what's best for the space that's available or for throughput.

I appreciate Silent Hill 3 as a technical marvel, as it looks better than the vast majority of modern games despite having come out in 2003.

>Japanese train passenger records journey that looks like a scene from a Makoto Shinkai anime film

>The beautiful clip, which was filmed by Kobe-based photographer Kazuya Hashimoto, shows two Hankyu trains on the rails, making their way past rooftops, tall apartment blocks, and over bridges, as they head faithfully towards their destination.

>The signature maroon colour of the Hankyu trains, which run between Kobe, Osaka, Kyoto and Takarazuka, give the trains character, and at one point it seems as if they’re racing each other to get to their final destination.

>Since it was shared online, the clip has received more then three million views, with people around the country in awe of the scene, saying it looks just like something from a Makoto Shinkai anime film. >According to Hashimoto, the clip, which was filmed on his iPhone shortly after leaving Umeda Station, has an animated look due to the weather conditions on the day, which gave everything a slightly hazy, muted look.

blg3014 , seems like the original tweet was deleted?
