Pretty much every guide I've read about getting to endgame keeps telling me to get a DK up to max level, farm a Krieg set, then go facerolling while bathing in enough legendaries to gear up everyone else. I'm at 96 right now, and I've been chain-running the three Malmouth bosses who drop the Krieg set for two days now on elite because my resistances still aren't quite up to spec for ultimate difficulty. So far, I have two sets of shoulders to show for my efforts, and they're somehow a downgrade from the rep vendor ones I'm currently wearing. Am I barking up the wrong tree completely, or does this initial farm process just take a long time?

Drop rates are better on higher difficulties. Also are what level are those bosses for you? I think if you out level enemies too much their drop rates suffer as well (someone correct me on that if I'm wrong).

Did you use one of those tokens to skip a difficulty? By the time I've finished elite (though before the extra FG content) I used to be 79-81 IIRC.

Don't worry too much about resistances unless you're playing on Hardcare, I used the ultimate token and begun the game at lvl 1 with -50% all res.

Also use augments from the reputation vendors to fill in for missing resistances, at your stage in the game it should be real easy to max everything. I'm 97 with all my resistances more or less maxed on ultimate.

The bosses are still 94-95, so within a level or two of me. I didn't do any difficulty skips, but I also hoarded components without actually using them for a long time, so I ended up brute-forcing my way through big chunks of veteran and elite difficulties.

Anyone else playing Warlord? I struggle deciding between Menhir's Bulwark and Divine Mandate.

I need both trees at 40 minimum, besides Divine Mandate being a huge dps boost (also affects retaliation damage) with its crit damage and other nice damage boosts, getting 50 points in Oathkeeper for that sweet Celestial Presence almost feels mandatory.

On the other hand getting tankier is never a bad thing, though even if I choose that exclusive I still probably want to get Celestial Presence forcing me to put both masteries at 50.

>>16337834

>>16337875

They're working on what looks like a town builder/survival game, could be fun but I'd really rather want something similar to GD.

The devs have talked about diminishing return on the sales of each expansion and that they most likely wont make another one unless it far outsells their expectations (which is what happened with AoM I believe). So it's more likely that they'll make GD2.

Look at it this way

>X people buy game

>Expansion comes out and less than 100% buy it

>Second expansion comes out and less than 100% that bought the first expansion buy it

But on the other hand releasing a new expansion can (and at least to some degree will) boost sales of the original game due to renewed interest and exposure. So it's not as if releasing new content can't potentially attract a much larger audience. Though honestly at this point I reckon that most people that like the genre have already tried the game or at the very least are aware of it.

So it depends on if they believe enough people are interested in a third expansion to warrant the development of one. Like AoM sold way more than they thought so they realized it was worth investing in a third.

It is, but you're right. I believe they started calling them ARPG's in juxtaposition to the slower turn based games which were basically all RPG's back then. But now there are so many kinds of RPG's that most would fall under the category of ARPG if you were to use the term literally.

Yeah, like the original fallouts were proper rpgs, then came diablo honestly not sure which came first, cant be fucked to look it up and that was a real time game. Now most rpg's are real time so we need a proper name for it really.

Looking for a diablo-like and finding nothing but skyrim is a pain in the ass. Maybe Diablo-like would be easiest, not like there's a specific name other than souls-like for the souls games. Metroidvania and rogue-liktes are similar too but there's a clear genre there. For these games they're so fucking annoyingly uncommon though.

RTS has long since been buried in a shallow grave but I'm not sure what keeps loot hoarding simulators alive and kicking since there hasn't been much innovation in the genre that I can think of. Every game be it TL, PoE or GD have been built around d2 each with their own slight deviations from the original trying different takes on what they consider improvements to the game but I'm not sure if any of them change the fundamentals of the genre.

RTS certainly had its fair share of changes from where it began with basic stuff like C&C and dune. And then it changed so much that it decided to die and spawn assfaggots so there's that

Witch gods are literally random dudes who fucked over korvak and went into hiding later. Protagonist of the game is way more powerful than they are/were. Hard to say if you are more powerful than the witch gods were before they ascended. The lore notes show them as being quite powerful and possessing unique powers. Solael had very destructive magic, Bysmiel could manipulate gods, Dreeg could cause insanity. They worked together to bind Korvaak, Bysmiel went about manipulating the priest order and tricking Ulzuin away from the Temple he was supposed to be protecting. When they the guardian was away they attacked Korvaak with Solael doing the brunt of the damage while Dreeg clouded his mind.

None of this would have happened if the gods didn't have their war between themselves. It weakened a lot of them substantially from the power they had to expend. Empyrion decided to sequester himself away from everything, his brother Korvaak decided to remain a fixture for the religion, exposing himself to the risks. Ulzuin, who betrayed C'thon, was to protect Korvaak while he regained strength.

You also never directly "kill" the celestials. For Mogdrogen you face an avatar of his power, strengthened by his connection to the Rowari. Ravager is another avatar situation, his power is channeled into Cairn through the sacrifice you choose. Even when the gods themselves banded together to kill C'thon he still is regaining strength. Once a god reaches a certain point they transcend into a state where they can't really die but can be banished from a realm. Eventually they can regain strength. The witch gods not showing as many weaknesses as Korvaak did shows they learned from what they did to him.

I'm playing the same build and i think going 50 Oathkeeper/40 Soldier is better. Take Divine Mandate instead of Oleron's Rage for a huge crit damage improvement. The 10 points go into Clarity of Purpose so you'll end up with a similar amount of OA but way more crit damage. With perfect rolls on all CD gear you hit 25% so Ascension has 75% uptime. These changes really upped my dot.

It's a survivability thing with the relic. You can interchange mandate and olerons without losing much (my version has a much higher %trauma).

Btw, stick seal of blades on your main hand for better lifesteal. Game treats ADCtH separate per weapon unless it's a caster off-hand, armor piece, or devotion. Skills that use both weapon slots still only factor in the ADCtH weapon damage for that weapon.

>>16338912

Running markovian or shattering smash on a forcewave/aegis build is pointless. The entire point of the build is to DoT and enemy and avoid getting hit. If you don't have a default weapon attack skill so if you are auto-attacking you are wasting skill points and piloting the character in a very suboptimal way. Works great for a retaliation based warlord though, but without righteous fervor or cadence you are wasting your time.

5f518c  No.16339162

>>16339135

>wasting skill points

>maxed clarity of purpose

>dot build only require single application of dot

Highest dot overrides lower dot. Unless you have godawful lot of crit chance your damage will be completely random. Not to mention the fact that you can easily chain CD attack skills and the fact that there are no reason not to have default attack skill. Not to mention the fact that 1second duration damage of internal trauma applies every hit so there are no reason to skip on fast attacking skills.

What's so bad about max clarity of purpose? What else am I going to put the points into? This post makes me think you don't understand game mechanics at all. Also shattering smash's resist reduction wouldn't even stack with war cry.

145503  No.16339213

>>16339162

You are mixing up posters, I don't max clarity, I put in 1 point for the life leach resist. DoT are additive from other sources. Forcewave DoT and Aegis DoT are added together. They also have upfront damage. A DoT effect is only overridden when a higher number comes from the SAME source. A forcewave/aegis build is not a high attack speed build, your goal is to stack %trauma damage and apply that DoT from 2 primary sources, reapplying as often as you can. Forcewave tactician was able to apply 500k trauma DoT with easy, aegis is another source of close to or equivalent DoT, with the upside of a lower CD and a %chance for a CD reset.

To reiterate: Highest DoT overrides ONLY the source of that DoT.

Secret quests have some skill/attribute points. Path of the three (add difficulties), the hidden quests in ultimate, the Seer in the south of Covens in ultimate after you have kill the AoM boss (this also gets you a crystal pet from Hargate after the quest), and shattering realm gives points for clearing shard 25 (iirc 75-76 s best loot running).

I might be missing something but that should cover it. After you get ultimate unlocked you can buy an unlock stone for new character at the Conclave of the Three, unlocks all difficulties and the portals for normal/elite and gives you the normal/elite quest skill and attribute points. Combine it with a Lokarr armor set and clarity potions and level in elite to about level 73 for faster leveling.

%RR is applied after flat RR and before -%RR. %RR is also multiplicative against current resist while the other two are subtracted. If enemy has 80% resist and you have 20 in all three categories, you get 80%-20=60%*.8=48%-20%=28%.

>>16339495

Grimtools has a checklist page you can upload your character to and it'll tell you which of those skillpoint quests you missed. I think I read it's bugged though if you used a token to unlock ultimate so anything below ultimate will say it hasn't been completed. The token does give you those quest rewards though so don't worry about that.

>>16339537

Dots only deal the highest damage per second from each source of the dot. If you had a 100% weapon damage attack and attacked a million times per second you'd still only deal as much dot damage as if you had attacked once in that same second.

Drop tortoise, take panther, max obelisk and take hawk tortoise is trash. I'd also prsonally drop the overguard modifier since you should be unkillable except for really high shards anyways and all it really does is reduce your damage. Here's most of the changes I'd make with some points left over to spend however you want https://www.grimtools.com/calc/M2gJ36gN the shield is under maces If you get a bunch of retaliation gear you might want to drop the points in RF since the base skill doesn't affect the retal damage.

I thought about changing tortoise but couldn't find something where those points were better spent.

Why is it bad, the extra protection layer is a nice safety blanket.

>If you get a bunch of retaliation gear you might want to drop the points in RF since the base skill doesn't affect the retal damage

>Why is it bad, the extra protection layer is a nice safety blanket.

The nodes themselves are pretty damn bad and the proc is bad too. 1 point in menhirs will gives you essentially the same thing and with how defensive your character is you really shouldn't proc it often anyways. If you're playing hardcore I guess you could make a point for using it.

>It adds more charges which in turn makes the added retal damage scale even harder, no?

I can't give you a source but I'm fairly sure a tester said on the forums that the charges do not scale the retal damage portion.

>Also what do you think about Dryad?

I think Dryad is even worse than Tortoise. 5 Points for 3 order, terrible nodes and a proc that sucks and you have to bind it to an active ability and trigger it. If you want more heal either use a seal of blades/haunted steel or get ghoul which is also another circuit breaker. The ADCTH heals way more than Dryad ever would and the ghoul proc is a better circuitbreaker than Tortoise. But I don't think you really need more defense.

I tried Dryad and yeah it doesn't seem very useful.

I've also thought about going for Chariot of the Dead instead of Tree of Life, Chariot has solid OA (55 and 4%) and the heal is somewhat comparable to Tree though the increased CD sucks.

As for retal not scaling with charges, I'll have to look it up or do some testing later when I have a more respectable amount of retal and see if the damage loss becomes significant.

I know that items with on hit effects can trigger devotion procs if tied to a default attack replacer but I'm assuming passive on hit skills can not.

Debating where to put Assassin's Mark on my Warlord, since RF is single target it seems far from ideal. Putting such an important effect on an on hit skill also seems like I'd lower its uptime, not to mention that the passive aoe skills of warlord are not that huge.

So currently I have it on my guardians since they have such a large sweep attack and my RF uses Shield Wall.

If you need healing jumping into a pack is not the best idea. Oathbreaker charge is a good escape indeed, I find it covering all escape movement I need. Bosses should really be faster, and their gapcloser is terrible, they should give it splash damage, because if I am moving away they cant hit me with it, because they stop at the end before dealing damage and as result miss.

So I guess healing + damage is better and it has lower cd, unless you dont have any -DA in your build. Byt really you likely dont need it anyway. 2 charges is more than enough since you cant just spam them, it seems they were implemented because some classes dont have any mobility and if your class has it it doesn't really do much for them. Its nice to be able to charge twice as fast but in the end I use it extremely rarely, when some random ranged mob is annoying me and I want to kill him, but my shield throw is on CD. That was changed a bit, now cunning gives you some HP, not sure how much. The problem with cunning is that you need a lot of it for crit or you will suck dick because most of your damage is crit based. I might switch towards cunning later from almost pure phys, but only when I got all items I need. A lot of endgame sets have a lot of HP on them.

But before that I would aim at 100% hitrate without debuffs/buffs and rest into phys. And some into spirit for rings and such, but you probably will have enough of it anyway.

Don't know if they've buffed drop rates since then.

I know drop rates are better on higher difficulties and damn it's noticable, was literally swimming in legendary items on my Warlord by the time I hit ~70 which I started on Ultimate from lvl 1.

>>16344117

I've always found that survivability is much harder to come by than DPS whilst lvling. The hp to cunning and spirit is noticeable but it's only 1HP per cunning or 8HP vs 20HP if you spent an attribute point on either cunning or physique.

Some masteries have very poor physique gain, such as both inquisitor and demolitionist but rather high cunning. So on those you need to compensate and add physique. The opposite is true for oathkeepers and soldiers.

Put soul shard on your ring and unholy inscription on your gloves. Your shoulders are killing your damage with that elemental to vitality conversion and your guns don't convert to fire damage and one of them has no armor piercing at all. Your neck is doing basically nothing for you as well. When you get one that works, you can put a wardstone on it and your medal to fix up your elemental and bleeding resistance. You should also replace your yellow ring. You should drop horn of gandarr and get points in thermite mines or aura of censure. You seem to be focusing on fire damage and pierce damage with a heavier emphasis on fire but you took assassin's dagger instead of solael's witchblade. Dryad's blessing is also very shit. Redirect those points to solael's witchblade for more RR and finish up ulzuin's torch. Don't assign ghoul to blast shield. It will only be able to proc while blast shield is active.

I see you don't have many armor augments, is Black Legion the only faction at revered reputation? If that's the case buy more of what they have available and replace some of the components to fill in missing resistances.

>Shoulders & Pants

You're 79% overcapped on fire, remove the Molten Skin component from your shoulders and replace it with Silk Swatch (18% bleeding 18% pierce).

Ancient Armor Plate on your pants is bad if your other resistances aren't capped, again I recommend Silk Swatch.

>Belt & Boots

Your Acid & Poison is overcapped by 36%, you don't need to overcap on Elite and especially if your other resistances aren't even at softcap. Remove the Antivenom Salves from your belt and boots and replace them with something else.

Mark of Mogdrogon is nice for boots, if you don't have access to it Mark of the Traveler does the job.

Maybe put a Rigid Shell on your belt for your lightning resistance.

>Gloves

Put Consecrated Wrappings on your gloves for the 5% attack speed. If you can't get your bleeding and vitality resistance high enough through other means consider an Unholy Inscription instead.

>Rings

Soul Shard would be good on your empty ring to up your vitality resistance.

Consider replacing the Mark of Illusions on your other ring if you're still struggling with maxing your resistances.

>Amulet

Put a Dread Skull for it to increase DPS and movement. You can also put an Aether Soul on it for better resistance.

Also augment it, don't know which ones you have available but the Corpsefiend you got on your rings would be alright.

>Skills

Deadly Aim is a good skill but you don't really need to invest that heavily into it, other skills would benefit more.

Vigor is a solid source of health, put at least a few casual points in it for survivability.

Horn of Gandarr doesn't need that many points, it's mostly for CC and while the increased aoe is nice it seems like overkill. Leave only a few in it.

Searing Strike (DW Fire Strike transmuter) is a solid DPS increase

>>16345848

This anon also makes some good points. Those guns aren't ideal. Purifier deal a great amount of their damage as elemental (mainly fire and lightning) and getting resistance reduction for those would be great.

But I have to say that Assassin's Mark is still a great devotion since pierce deals physical damage and is also a large part of your damage source.

This is how I'd change the skill build and devotions.

https://www.grimtools.com/calc/lV7qzYyN

I'm not completely sold on Rune of Kalastor but if you like using it there's no major harm.

Also another good way to increase survivability is increasing Inquisitor Seal, Vigor isn't bad either since it offers some health and reduces lock down. Main way to increase survivability is first maxing resistances and don't shy away from picking a few pieces of gear with good health boosts even if it reduces your dps.

Tortoise can be an okay devotion on squishier builds and it activates after Blast Shield so one of them can save your life while the other is cooling down.

yeah, but it requires that you do the first bit of malmouth which is after the main game. Physique is just better for survivability and hp. There are specific builds that do different things ofc, but especially for a starter more hp is going to help you more than dealing slightly more dps.

34341a  No.16346029

Never say never, all masteries have different stat growth per point invested in their mastery bar.

Some classes like Oathkeeper for example only get 125 cunning at 50 points compared to the 200 of Inquisitor.

But yeah in the case of soldier + inquisitor I'd say you can pretty comfortably dump everything into physique.

You might need to spend a few points in spirit to use legendary rings and amulets since soldier + inquisitor gets 300 spirit with both maxed out and you'll need 394. Otherwise you'll have to rely on spirit from other sources such as components, gear and devotions.

e3fd78  No.16346034

>>16346019

Just save 10 or so points to meet gear requirements when you need them. Once you hit max level, you can grind to nemesis rep on enemy factions and then hunt nemesis to get attribute reset potions. You also get a few reset potions for free from some quests in expansion areas.

d3a7c9  No.16346035

>>16346029

Even on oathkeeper unless you're doing some wonky nonsense with gun+board or caster weapons you're not gonna want to hit cunning/spirit up. Certainly it's not as important as before the rework, but the additional hp per point investment is much better for almost every build unless you're a Spellbreaker who can keep mirror up 24 hours a day, or someone else with incredibly hard mitigation, which a lot of class combos don't have.

34341a  No.16346041

I've heard that something in the range of 2500 OA at lvl 100 is good enough. I don't reach that number permanently but using Crushing Verdict to reduce enemy DA by a bit over 200 and Markovian advantage for another 100 or so helps me land crits reliably.

But even with Presence of Virtue at max and Field command at something like 6/12 I still have ~2400 OA. And this is with 30 or so points spent in cunning. Will import my build into grimtools later and see how much OA I'd lose by skipping that cunning.

34341a  No.16346072

If you use Retaliation, RF. If not I believe Cadence might win out. It could also be that RF deals slightly higher single target DPS either way, whilst Cadence offers extra AoE capabilities from fighting form.

So yeah, no idea unless you're using retaliation. Report your results, I'm curious.

e3fd78  No.16346082

>>16346050

Crushing verdict and markovian advantage don't stack. Neither does blitz/blindside for that matter.

>>16346063

It probably depends on how much you've invested in wps skills. Cadence's third hit cannot proc a wps skill and righteous fervor buffs the damage of your wps by a huge amount. For example, at 16/16 RF and 10/10 smite you'd do about 234% weapon damage on smite procs I believe.

8b8565  No.16346113

>>16346082

Oh I thought only flat resistance reduction didn't stack.

e3fd78  No.16346122

>>16346113

It's the same mechanic, flat DA/OA reduction doesn't stack but -DA/OA does like occultist pox and curse.

d3a7c9  No.16346135

>>16346072

alright, just tested it.

Here's the results.

With the level 1 shield+mace, no armor, and no buffs but maxed WPS we get that cadence completely beats out RF by a pretty sizable margin of about 15% dps.

With Field Command maxed, PoV maxed, and Counterstrike maxed, Cadence beats out RF by about 20%.

Now this is all without gear on, once we actually put gear on the story changes a good bit.

Just changing the weapon obviously doesn't change anything, we still see that Cadence scales a little better with main hand weapon damage than RF does. The attack speed from RF by itself only gives me a little extra dps from procs. But I wanted to test it with just a weapon change to see if the procs gave me more overall dps.

Using the full perdition (level 94) set (still with the level 1 mace) RF starts doing doing roughly 2 times as much as cadence. I actually went back and refunded points so they'd be at normal cap

So from what I'm getting at is, cadence is much better when you don't have retaliation damage on your gear, or if you have a good main hand weapon. RF only starts really outshining cadence once you are incredibly invested into retaliation damage increases.

Funny side note though, Oleron's rage is giving me a higher dps boost than Divine Mandate is on both Fervor and Cadence. So unless you crit a lot (this guy had basically a 0% crit chance on dummies) Oleron's rage beats out mandate because of the attack speed and flat phys damage increases, even on RF.

d3a7c9  No.16346137

>>16346135

Oh damnit I knew I forgot something, This man had no devotions for the duration of the testing.

e3fd78  No.16346158

>>16346135

Testing with a level one mace is faulty. Cadence has deadly momentum which buffs your weapon damage and will also make it better if you're using non wps skills as well like blade arc. RF also buffs your defenses with DA, armor, and resists.

Oleron is probably winning because of your low OA which it boosts. It doesn't give attack speed and they have similar internal trauma bonus damage. However Mandate does give slow resistance which is somewhat difficult to come by and you'll probably go to 50 oathkeeper anyway for the resist shred when there's nothing like that at 50 for soldier.

>So unless you crit a lot (this guy had basically a 0% crit chance on dummies) Oleron's rage beats out mandate because of the attack speed and flat phys damage increases, even on RF.

Well obviously Oleron's Rage is better if you have low OA since they both add the same physical and internal trauma %. Just like you said the OA boost lets you hit more often but the % crit damage doesn't come into account at all.

I appreciate your thoroughness but that comparrison is kind of pointless. I strongly believe Divine Mandate is much better if you have decent OA, which you should have any way.

d3a7c9  No.16346176

Just seems odd to me, not saying your results are wrong but something else might be playing a part.

When using it with RF with both at 12/12 it would be

>135% Burn Damage

>50% crit damage

vs

>12% OA

Now sure the burn damage doesn't add much at all (96k physical 4.2k fire dps at peaks on my build) but on paper it seems like the crit bonus should have a rather severe impact.

d3a7c9  No.16346201

>>16346188

You'd think but that 12% OA was 5% crit chance. Also the burn doesn't do much, it was only around 4k without mandate and 4.5k with it. Note that this was all designed specifically to minimize differences in damage. Obviously if you built for burn it'd tick for higher. But most of the stuff used was either neutral or added +damage to things the build didn't use to get to decent OA

8b8565  No.16346218

>>16346201

If you used a low damage weapon, maybe crit damage % doesn't get as much leverage as it would normally?

d3a7c9  No.16346232

It may have to do with how I got the OA by stacking cunning? It may also have to do with the no devotions. I was also using

https://www.grimtools.com/db/items/13727

and

https://www.grimtools.com/db/items/9466

So it could be with any of those. But that wasn't a main focus so it was more of seeing if I could get cadence to bypass RF when you're geared for it, which the answer to that was no you cannot. Cadence falls off really hard if you can get decent amounts of retaliation going, because PoV and Counterstrike become pretty substantial damage buffs.

e3fd78  No.16346261

>>16346201

Ok I just plugged in numbers into a spread sheet.

At 2500 OA vs moneybags martin who has 2148 DA (training dummies have even less DA) at level 100, you'd have 100 PTH which is 10% chance to crit for 1.1x damage. Adding oleron brings you up to 108.6 PTH which means 18% chance to crit; 15% for 1.1x and 3.6% for 1.2x. Meanwhile, mandate will boost your 2500 crit values to 10% chance of 1.45x crit damage. If you already have high crit damage from gear or devotions, oleron is probably better for more consistent crits. Notably, you need 3400 OA before Oleron to reach the final crit threshold of 1.5x crit damage which is still only 45% crit chance. However, consistent crits don't matter for DOT builds, crit damage does due to the way dot stacking works. In that case, mandate will always be better.

Just did some testing on my current build with 12/12 in both, fully buffed and spammed Verdict on CD.

I only have 2244 OA and 5% crit damage without either exclusive active.

Oleron's Rage got up to ~145k dps at some peaks whilst Divine Mandate got up to ~167k at its peaks.

With Oleron I also dipped below 100k rather often but with Divine Mandate I did so very rarely sat around ~110-120 rather often with some much higher peaks.

Haven't used GrimInternals much, is there a better way to compare DPS than to eye the meter?

>However, consistent crits don't matter for DOT builds, crit damage does due to the way dot stacking works. In that case, mandate will always be better.

Which Ravager is considered the easiest? I guess it depends on the build but all versions look sort of nasty.

I'm leaning towards Ravager of Flesh because he can't cause fumble or reduce my attack speed.

Any tips? Doing this on Ultimate and I clearly need to overcap my bleed and vitality res by 30% for Flesh, what else can I do to prepare?

I'll chug some consumables, list so far is:

>Ugdenjuice

>Ugdensalve

>Royal Jelly Essence

>Royal Jelly Ointment

>Vilescar Ointment

Don't have access to a consumable which reduces bleeding duration (if there even is one). Maybe I should respec from Divine Mandate into Menhir's Bulwark?

With the Vilescar I'll have 54% lifesteal res but wouldn't hurt to have more.

f4147f  No.16347242

>>16347196

Flesh also has a very strong energy drain, so you better have harp ready to go to keep from getting zeroed out. The slow one might actually be easier, since 80% slow res means your attack speed drops for about half a second.

Just pump your armor/phys res/absorption as high as it'll go. Ravager just does retard high amounts of physical damage, but if you can soak that, you're good. His bleed/vit/aether is pretty marginal, and you can soak it with ADCTH. Since it sounds like you're a warlord, you can get your armor up to 5-7k and just sit around bashing him in the face (assuming you don't go the busted retal route and glass him in a few minutes). As far as consumables go, courageous tincture (Homestead) is primo for fighting these types of bosses. So is aetherward oil (Malmouth), since I assume you're using a shield.

e3fd78  No.16347250

Ravager of flesh doesn't life steal, he deals life reduction. Menhir's bulwark will help with that some but vilescar won't. He also shreds resists by up to 55% so you might want more overcap unless you intend to kite during his secondary shred.

I don't know how much retal I'd need for that, I'm in the 64k range with just permanent buffs activated.

> As far as consumables go, courageous tincture (Homestead) is primo for fighting these types of bosses. So is aetherward oil (Malmouth)

Oh fuck me, completely forgot those vendor potions were a thing. Stacking up on those two, puts me at 96% block chance with 3.2k damage.

Depends on what you want to do with it, it's s pretty flexible mastery.

You can go for minions, vitality caster, aether caster (with arcanist) and vitality melee to mention a few.

Also you're right content does scale (within some limits depending on where you are and difficulty).

The new expansion is easier than the first expansion so it's not a bad idea to do it first, if you feel it's too challenging keep doing the main campaign like anon above suggested.

You'll have to play through the game on Elite and Ultimate too, though when you've done it once you can buy tokens and make new characters skip to the unlocked difficulty (you'll be lvl 1 but level faster).

I just assumed since I saw someone discussing in a build thread about stacking Light of Empyrion with War Cry. They really should make an effort of explaining mechanics better in-game, especially regarding RR and debuffs.

But yeah in short only -X% Resistance is the only debuff that stacks and nothing else, right?

e3fd78  No.16350767

>>16350739

In short, yes.

It works on a debuff system. -X reduced is its own debuff while -X% is part of the debuff you cast. X reduced is its own debuff as well. Compare the tooltip for curse of frailty to warcry's break morale. There's no duration listed for the resistance shred on curse of frailty while there is on break morale. Same thing with the defensive ability reduction on curse and markovian advantage. As far as I know there is only one type of damage reduction and that's X% which won't stack. Also if you have something like warcry and nullification from arcanist, it will use whichever is highest for the damage type.

Anyone got some suggestions on ways of increasing my survivability? Wouldn't mind bumping my OA up a tad either.

https://www.grimtools.com/calc/O2Gm9RXZ

I could sacrifice points from RF since I'm running a retaliation focused build but I struggle with the decision.

As for the best thing to do with those extra points, I'm not sure. I'm leaning towards maxing Warcry increasing the damage reduction to 25% which relative to its current level is quite massive. Do bosses tend to be affected by damage reduction?

I've been eyeing the Rebuke skill but it seems like a poor return on investment even though it grants me retaliation bonus.

I'd want to bump Menhir's Bulwark up another 2 points to get 18% damage absorption but I can only add 1 further point so I'll need another +1 to all or soldier first.

Field Command would both increase my OA and defence, though the defence not as radically as I imagine a higher Warcry would.

The witch cults offer some nice augments and I'm currently farming reputation with them, my main problem is that I'm forced to dedicate all the augments on resistance rather than nice stuff like health and blocking. Maybe It'll solve itself when I get some gear upgrades.

Lastly my Relic is old as fuck, pic related is one of the better options I have "available" but I'm missing the recipe for one fucking relic.

f2121a  No.16352470

>>16351751

I'm at work and can't offer detailed analysis but right off the bat it looks like you have too many points spread out into active abilities. My most successful builds focus on a maximum of 2/3 abilities (not including main attack) for a strong rotation, and those excess points you have spread out could be focused into one or two damage types. It also looks like your damage output is incredibly spread out, nothing reaches over 1100%. For comparison my shaman is at +2200% Lightning damage with some excess in physical and bleeding.

If RF is your main source of damage then you want to overcap that as much as possible. I don't see there being any reason to have 22 points in counterstrike which is a proc ability. It looks like you're heavily reliant on Ascension as well which means you have a massive 10 second gap in usable damage output while those points could be spent on RR. Also, not every passive is worth investing in when creating a strong build and you have points in every single one.

If I were you I'd figure out 2 damage types I'd want to be cranking out (physical + ret for example) and max that as much as possible. Don't be afraid to take points out of passives as well (such as shield training) and focus those on more valuable assets such as RR or circuit breakers. I'm sure another anon will have more guidance but this is what I'd start thinking about.

>>16352470

>If I were you I'd figure out 2 damage types I'd want to be cranking out (physical + ret for example)

That's exactly my focus, but with defence added to the mix. The problem with RF is that increasing it doesn't increase the scaling of the retaliation bonus, so I'm actually thinking about dropping it down to 1 point (in effect putting it at 5/16)

>It looks like you're heavily reliant on Ascension as well which means you have a massive 10 second gap in usable damage output while those points could be spent on RR

It's a great damage boost but it's also one of my main defensive skills, I cycle between it and Overguard for 100% uptime between the two.

RF is my only damaging ability, everything else consists of debuffs, buffs and mobility. My other main source of damage is retaliation which is both passive and from Counterstrike.

Also retaliation is global, meaning that acid retaliation benefits as much as physical retaliation from retaliation %. The only thing that matters in that regard is RR, which means yeah I should focus on physical retal because of my Assassin's Mark and guardian passive, but other retaliation sources still boost my RF and Smite.

Maybe I've spent a bit much in Shield Training but I've been rather sparse with the points spent on my circuit breaker.

Drop RF to 1 and get field command and war cry. Also consider markovian's defense for more uptime on overguard. Put aether soul on your medal and swap out your shield component for something that gives shield stats like battered shell or serrated shell. You could also replace your glove and neck components for something better. You should farm the messenger for his helm, it adds another 8% retal to RF. Also throw your eldritch essences at the forgotten gods legendary blacksmith and pray for stoneguard amulet.

d3a7c9  No.16352847

>>16352658

I wouldn't drop RF to 1 unless he's really fucking desperate, RF is his main damage source. I'd sooner drop judgement because even though the DA reduction is nice, that's 10 points tied up. I'd also scrap a few points from shield training because he's pretty solid block chance wise especially with OG up.

Agreed about field command and maybe Markovian's defense, but definitely no on MD if he drops RF down.

e3fd78  No.16352900

>>16352847

He's going to do no weapon damage anyway due to the focus on retaliation damage and the retaliation added to attack doesn't scale with RF levels, it scales with retribution. That's why I suggested the helmet and amulet since those both increase the retal to attack on RF. Trust me, hitting a boss for an extra 1k weapon damage isn't gonna do anything when the boss is already hitting himself for 100k and your retal to attack is doing 10k+ and that'll go up by 2-3x as he gets gear.

He could reach 100% shield block chance with acc augments and stoneheart oil+aetherward oil but that becomes harder, if not impossible, if he drops shield training unless he uses a battered/reinforced shell but then he can't use serrated shell. With a serrated shell, that's 100% block recovery with overguard. Together with 100% block chance, that'll drastically boost his survivability as long as he stays out of ground effects since those are the only things you can't block. Until he gets a better relic like citadel or menhir's bastion, I wouldn't drop any points from shield training.

Good tip on switching out shield component, definitely want the shield recovery reduction from serrated shell. Not sure what would be better for my amulet and gloves though.

Looking at GT I see Blazing Ruby. Runebound Topaz and Attuned Lodestone as potential candidates. I have access to the latter two but I feel like attack speed is quite the damage boost.

The only thing I could imagine for my gloves would be Bladed Plating, are those really better than the attack speed from consecrated wrappings?

Not 100% sold on Markovian's Defence, I feel like cycling between it and ascension is pretty solid but I might give it a try and see if my damage is still decent.

Will go gamble some essences as well, thanks.

Someone on the GD forum suggested I drop Markovian's Advantage, since its DA doesn't stack with Judgement and the animation is bad, slowing down the player somewhat. Thoughts?

What augments do you suggest for rings/amulet? There aren't any shield recovery ones and the only block chance is the Survivor's Resilience. So either that one or Osyr's Fortitude seems best.

Yeah drop advantage I forgot about that, It doesn't stack with judgement's reduction. You could also drop zolhan's, it has no retal to attack and the slow is just gonna make it take longer for enemies to die.

My point is getting better resist components so you can use the shield augments on your rings. Until you can stack really high retal to attack, attack speed won't help you that much. As you said the only shield block chance augment is survivor's resilience. You could go with something else though if you had a shield block chance relic like citadel, I recommend farming nemesis or a roguelike dungeon or even shattered realm if you're confident you can reach a decent shard level.

Shattered Realm is just bullshit and anti-fun with some of these combinations. RNG is nice for spicing things up but when the difference in difficulty between shard 50 and 60 (for example) is pure RNG with the scaling of enemies only mattering a miniscule amount in comparison, it just feels like the game screws you cheats you out of resources based on a dice toss.

Well from what I remember there was a bit ago where someone did the math on how quickly they obtain currency and found out that they can't actually have the currency they have unless a dev or something was helping them with drop rates. This as opposed to saying "we don't do this" or whatever they pushed a super hard campaign against it and it seemed super suspicious

>>16359642

Yeah I know what you're talking about, looked really bad for them. Was also something about a really rare item getting priced wrong so one guy bought like 15 of them and flipped them for currency, and this was right at the start of the league and no one had even gotten that deep into the maps yet for it to even realistically be available.

Know there's a compilation image floating around but couldn't find it. PoE fags are in denial, of course.

I mean there's a reason why they've been using the same spam chat messages for over 3 years now in spite of the devs "making it harder" for them.

That aside the flat retaliation should be worth more than the %increase. Also that additional block chance is helping you.

5700b5  No.16359889

>>16359860

Yeah but I definitely think it outshines the shield mace with the 3 set, even the two set bonus grants massive retal bonus and 244% probably does more than the flat. However the the skill bonus is amazing so even 2/3 is probably not worth it.

The retal to shattering smash is strong too. More farming ahead I guess.

As for PoE, I've also heard rumors of some of the third-party sites having a direct connection to (((Tencent))).

It's all just sad, the game had great potential.

Father Kymon Green sword or a common sword?

>Also soulfire is way overleveled

Skill add reduction target damage and its overleveled a little because Eternal Band ring.

>Why are you using empowered eternal band

Ring gives me resistance, cast distruption resists so i can use EoR without interuption and lower target resistance what stuck with Wind Devil Raging Tempest.

>stormcaller over divine mandate?

I have mostly Lightning damage and no transmutes to fire damage. Notice my Devotion - all of them stun enemy, interrupt casting and lower target resistance. So its better stuck lightning damage before i find a wetter weapon or amulet.

Nah playing normal, never got into the permadeath meme for games where you can lose hundreds of hours in progress from dying.

But thanks for offering, though playing self-found is also not that bad in GD I find.

>>16360175

This but I don't see why Stormcaller is wrong, the Cyclone converts all physical and the cindertouch all fire damage so it's pretty much slow resistance vs 33% chance of 394% lightning damage + some minor electrocute damage.

>>16360222

>Skill add reduction target damage and its overleveled a little because Eternal Band ring.

It literally does nothing past 22, that's hard cap so you're wasting 4 skill points.

Also I'm not sure if Haven is worth the point investment? Seems like a hefty price to pay 9 points for 20% health and 15% increased healing.

I guess the build doesn't require that many points but maybe something like Judgement + Crushing Verdict would be a nice QoL skill that also improves crits a bit.

Enemy can hit pretty hard on Ultimate and here can appear 1 or 2 enemy who have "fuck you lower your max HP on 20%" so Hp and overcaped resists is important.

>Judgement + Crushing Verdict would be a nice QoL skill that also improves crits a bit.

No its not. Casting this spell will stop my EoF while its already required to cast Wind Devil every 4-5 sec.

I squeezed some more OA and crit out of your devotion setup, but that's probably not what you want to hear if this is the case.

I just find Sailor's Guide and Solemn Watcher to be kind of bad.

You could do this same setup with Watcher instead of Panther but remove the last point from Oklaine's Lantern which only grants 5% AS.

> which only grants 5% AS.

You dont undestand how Eye of Reckoning works - its damage scales with casting and main attack speed so attached lifeleech can sustain me and make me invincible while i casting EoR so this is why i max Clarity of Purpose and use ring and Armor what gives me resist to stun or skill disruption. And you take away Phys resists from Sailor while endgame Bosses and Nemesis just smash your scull with 2 pierce/phys damage attack after casting some silly shit what lower all your resists on 20-45%.

e3fd78  No.16360327

The green kymon sword, 10% extra weapon damage is a lot.

You could change your pants to arcane harmony pants for better disruption protection. The resist reduction on the ring doesn't stack with hand of ultos or viper and neither of those stack with each other.

You have basically no slow resist and really low attack speed since your gloves have none on them.

52d07a  No.16360357

> arcane harmony pants for better disruption protection

Its only gives it on proc and doest give me any phys resist or Defence bonus. Ideal pants would be green ones from Nemesis but its pain in a ass to find them or to dangerous to farm crucible before my build complete because its a HC.

>The resist reduction on the ring doesn't stack with hand of ultos or viper and neither of those stack with each other.

You half wrong - its different reduction. one of them is a overal resists reduction, another one is a elemental and it defiantly stuck because i can see damage numbers grow after this skill proc on minibosses who have to be immune to Lightning/Fire damage.

>no slow resist

This issue under work.

e3fd78  No.16360496

>>16360357

Arcane harmony pants are 100% protection all the time.

The ring doesn't stack and even if it did, 10% multiplicative isn't worth it when you could be using something like lifegiver for more life steal or a green for better resists or combustion band for more attack speed or kelphat'zoth for more flat lightning damage.

Trying to figure out how do spend my devotions, been bouncing between the idea of Tree of Life and Chariot of the Dead for a while.

I feel like ToL is better if I can get more OA from my gear but 2400 is on the lower end, making it hard to crit bosses.

Chariot

>150 DA, 100 OA and 8% crit damage

>Armor and DA heal proc with worse uptime

<Adjusted attribute points and put more in physique

https://www.grimtools.com/calc/bVAlrDw2

vs

Tree

>1k HP and ~300 health regen

>Regeneration proc with better uptime

<Adjusted attribute points and put more in cunning

https://www.grimtools.com/calc/1NXoEYPZ

I could also adjust the Chariot build to be tankier:

>50 less OA, 5% less crit damage and 20% less shield damage blocked

>900 more health, 2% extra phys resistance and 50 more DA

What's a good way to farm the crucible? I start at 150 + extra spawn then leave at 160 and I tend to have an average success rate.

Then I restart from checkpoint for another 10 waves before I quit to menu and reset.

Problem is that sometimes I just get 100-0 on wave 160.

Also I need Eldritch Essences so running SR doesn't seem that great because even if I it drops it tends to just pay for another run.

You could put an Aether Soul in your amulet since you're already 22% overcapped on chaos.

I don't know what factions you have at revered but the Devil's Crossing 'Overseer's Gaze' augment for amulets and rings is rather nice aether resistance since it also gives some OA.

You can also remove one of the fire + lightning resistances and replace it with aether (or aether + lightning if you're with Death's Vigil).

Question: If a weapon deals x amount of physical damage per hit, and additionally in the modifiers section of the weapon says, for example, "14-31 cold damage", does that mean 14-31 cold damage is added to each attack, in addition to the physical that's dealt? Or something else?
