You go through a series of slightly randomly generated maps, collecting lots of little bits of loot that give you various buffs or abilities. Enemies constantly spawn in while you're doing so. There is also a timer that is gradually increasing the difficulty the longer you play. If you're playing huntress then you have to pluck away at them for a shitload of time baiting with arrow rain to try to get hits in because huntress max range means you can't shoot from any further than melee range half the time. Merc has the hardest time because he sometimes can get unlucky and the worm just decides to hang out at the top of the map.
TLDR: They're not super hard but they take forever to kill.

You have to farm in level, because of course your gold is reset to 0. 7 statues at 282 gold each to make it vulnerable TEMPORALLY, then all 7 statues reset and you have to do it again. Engineer is so fucking good for multiplying item effects, holy shit. Grabbing some Bustling Fungus and a ton of Soldier's Syringes makes it what I wish the Engineer from Team Fortress 2 was. Unstable Tesla Coil goes amazingly on them, along with anything that chains damage like Ukalele or Sentient Meat Hook, because they almost never miss and just keep firing forever.
But I will remain perma-salty that they took away my fucking Thermal Harpoons for a damned bubble shield.

That's the great thing: the game continually gets harder so you will always eventually end up with a challenge that meets and exceeds your resources. With more players, items are spread more thinly, and more of your progress becomes dependent on individual players than just stacking gear to the moon. Which also makes the team enter a death spiral whenever one of the individual, weaker than normal, players dies. The game self-balances no matter how many players you have.

Yes he's OP. No, not every item is good. Never take Transcendence or Corpsebloom for starters. Other characters get great benefit from Transendence (corpsebloom is pretty shit no matter who you play), but on Engi i means his turrets no longer self-heal effectively, plus you can no longer abuse Bustling Fungus.

He's a hard tradeoff. You're slow, you've got no dodge, your primary attack has serious windup, and none of your other abilities can be used super proactively. Mines are powerful but not actually useful as mines and take an eon to recharge even if you get in a boss' face and dump them. His real feature is that he's a force multiplier for items because of his turrets, which themselves aren't really good until they have items.
Engy is a diesel juggernaut. It takes him a while to get started, but once he's going, it's hard to stop him. As for bad items on him? He's the only character where Backup Magazine is practically useless, only getting you a single additional mine that doesn't address the primary problem of still taking forever to reload. Healing items that aren't the Bustling Fungus are kind of shitty for him because his attacks rely on few large hits in the case of Leeching Seed and you want to be far away from the action in the case of Monster Tooth. Movement items are of course good for anyone, but Engy's primary feature, the turret item duplication, just doesn't make use of them.

I noticed something about the game's difficulty when my Teleporter glitched and never spawned. It seems to cap out per level to a degree. The game will get harder while playing the level, but mainly to a limit, and then the difficulty kicks in when you get to the next level. It did increase slowly, but I genuinely alt+tabbed and survived for 15-20 minutes.

Although I think the mines can be useful in some situational ways and to just plain fuck with your enemies and healing and defensive items in any kind of way shape or form are useful, if I didnt have any of them I would have never have made it to level 20 and finally got "the long road" yesterday.
One of the reasons I got so far as Engie is that whenever enemies were getting too strong for me to handle (such as overloading worms existing in general) I would quickly drop the bubble shield, plop my turrets inside the shield, then with my several wax quail's I would fucking skedaddle at light speed, letting my turrets handle everything by themselves.

Gesture of the Drowned stacks mutliplicitively. It takes around 5-6 of them to get the Disposable Missile Launcher to fire continuously. It never fires faster than that webm, any extra speed will cause the uses to be "queued up" and keep firing if you switch equipments, so that's a thing that MUL-T can use. Of course in that Webm I also have 3 Soulbound Catalyists, which reduce equipment cooldowns for every kill, which is why my cooldown is actually in the negatives, not that it makes any difference.

Commando needs a buff, absolutely.
First of all: why the fuck does the normal attack cause spread?
He is not MUL-T, he isn't wielding an automatic rifle, why make him less accurate with his already shitty basic attack?
Plus, I feel his secondary attack (Pulse) should have either a knock back effect, a pull in effect or even both: back in RoR1 the Commando worked well with that because it could push back an entire wave of enemies even if only slightly, in 3D the pulse attack suffers because you have to manually aim, aiding that with a push back/push back and pull in/pull in effect or even widening the AoE area would improve the character and not make Commando just a "use this until you can get a new character unlocked".
Huntress make able to run around even backwards, it's pointless to have a shoot while running ability if running into enemies is always a death warrant.
Engineer… fucking bring back the missiles and replace the fucking mines.
The shield?
I like, works well, make engineer feel like an engineer.
Turrets? Absolutely broken and I love them.
But the mines, the mine were pointless in the first game and now in the second: you will never carefully plan a set of mines to catch unsuspecting foes, no, you will just fucking spam them all at one enemy like grenades and then go back forgetting they even exist.
Replace mines with the harpoons, nobody ever liked the mines, everyone liked the harpoons.
MUL-T is fun and I feel pretty much perfect in its role.
Artificer I'd make immune to fall damage, if only to resemble the fact that she flies all the time, pretty dumb to have someone fly all the time and then get fall damage even though she doesn't hit the ground.
She is pretty decent but the ice wall feels pathetic, if you made the wall larger/wider or just make it like the engineer's mines it would improve it but like the engineer's mines I am not fond of that shit.
Mercenary translates well and bad, I feel the dash has too much build up animation: I'd make the final move have build up while the dashes are instant, since the dash is what you want to use to get out of a sticky situation while the final move you use to actually kill people.
Oh and Lunar Coins are fucking stupid.
The entire lunar concept is fucking stupid.
The lunar items are pointless, they are basically like artifacts but bad, spending semi-permanent currency on such shitty items (except the bug which I found somewhat useful and the drowned thing which is definitively broken).
The effigy of grief for example… why even?
It's such a pitiful area, such a pitiful effect, it isn't even worth the effort.
The burning salve meanwhile is absolutely fucking awful, it's basically a "This game is too easy let's damage myself for no other reason than to damage myself", which you could achieve with fall damage anyway.
I'd rather have Lunar Coins affect the game more on a "run" level, like "Pay 2 coins to get +50% enemies to spawn" or "enemies spawn rate is halved but all enemies are elite" and even "every teleporter has a stack of mountain challenger per every two coin spent" or whatever else.
The lunar items are terrible, they suck, can't imagine why anyone would want them, they are not even fun type of hard, they are just bland.

I bored myself out of my mine for the sake of science. For the second time, the teleporter didn't spawn on Distant Roost, except this time it was on the very first level. I decided to stick it out and see how the difficulty scaled if I never left it, and the amount of teleporters you've gone through DEFINITELY effects the difficulty. I survived for 60 minutes, after which the game stopped spawning enemies before I even left "Impossible" difficulty.

First, that's not the way the Spawn Credits apparently work. If the game could spawn hundreds of overloading worms at once it already would be doing that. At some point you hit a level of Spawn Credits where everything you could have spawned is below threshold, which means that there is no "more worms" option past a certain point.
I'm saying that no matter how high the player gets, whatever is in the top-tier group of potential spawns should keep spawning. When they add new enemies that top group will be a little bit higher, but that only means that the game will end in 5 hours instead of 4. I'm saying that whether the game goes for 5 or 5000 hours, there should still be SOMETHING spawning.

Two Elite Elder Lemurians that have the items you want equipped. I'm guessing I'm the only one here that has followed the dev blog since RoR2 was announced, but they specifically said they'd built their entire system from the ground up so that anything in the game can apply to anything in the game, with alternate game modes in mind. So given the right circumstances, random mobs can have items. If they bring the Scavenger back, it may actually pick up items around the map to use on you this time around instead of being a skillset. The asset transparency is so complete that if you edit the right files, you can play as anything in the game. Some of you have used this to play as the unreleased Bandit. I've been using it to play as the Prototype Drone, which a few of you have seen me do. Its abilities are already mapped to the correct buttons and I can pick up items to apply to it, though not all of them work, and I can't activate Equipment I'm holding.
Actual spoiler about unannounced content: My brother has used it to play as the Ancient Wisp boss from RoR1, which is evidently making a comeback.

People have found items that give you the powers of an elite, and the fact that shield elites don't seem to go down any slower than other elites when focused down, makes me think that the way the vulture item was coded is that it directly applies the code for an elite to the player. So shield elites have their health cut in half and the other half is given to shields.

It would take more than "a few" fuel cells. Both Gesture of the Drowned and Fuel Cell stack multiplicitively. With 2, The Backup cools down in 25 seconds. With 7, it would cooldown in about 0.8 seconds.
I don't think The Backup has a use animation at all though. If you combine it with Soulbound Catalyst, you can spawn a lot of drones simultainiously. Regardless, the drones SUCK. They don't proc any items or scale with anything except maybe character level. Even with so many drones it kills your framerate, you still won't be doing any real damage in later loops. I tried that once and chose to suicide via meteor rather than wait for the boss to actually die.

I should add it does nothing at all for leavers, but frankly once you die unless it's during the teleporter boss, the game is pretty much over for you anyway. You fall behind on items and will probably die on the next round, it's very hard to escape the death spiral once it starts.
It's easy however for the remaining, now fewer players to stack more items each because your share of items keeps spawning even if you leave the game, which ultimately results in the game becoming EASIER for the remaining players after you leave, assuming they can make it through about one more level.

the easiest method is to charge the portal to 99% while getting the boss close to 1-shot from outside the charging ring, then jump off the edge of the map multiple times in a row, which first halves your health then brings you to 1%.

Yeah, she has some defensive options like stun and freeze, but her lack of a panic button means she is pretty fucked against a major threat you can't directly face. There's no real amount of gitgudding you can do to remedy that at the moment.
She's fine in theory, but RoR2 definitely has nuke spawns that force you to hit the panic button and kite, and she can't really do that. I'm sure she'll get something more meaningful in the future though, maybe a bigger ice wall for starters. As of now, engineer is the only one who can meaningfully stand his ground instead of GTFO.

There is a reason she is considered the weakest character. You need to learn how to use your base mobility to survive until you get upgrades to that, and that will never be enough. The only item that works better with her than anyone else is the crowbar. Most of the other items are better used on other characters. I think I like playing her the most, though.

hardlight afterburners are amazing on everyone but the difference between one ice wall and 3 is phenomenal. greater wisps with their stun immunity can go to hell. i dont think theyre fun to deal with on anyone but being unable to shatter them sucks.
i would say the extra magazines are amazing too but after you get 2 you kind of need some attack speed to help her charge the thunder balls faster which is a lousy stat on her because it doesnt seem to help firebolts recharge faster and im not even sure it affects flamethrower at all.

Not even a little. He's strong early on because his rapid fire does a lot of damage up close. The two-equipment gimmick is entirely unnecessary by the point in the game where it could be good. Anyone can become a god with one equipment and the right items, having 2 equipments doesn't actually make that happen any faster or more reliably. His railgun is also the lowest DPS weapon in the game. Yeah it has infinite range but very rarely is plinking at the enemy from a mile away a valid strategy. He also has zero vertical mobility and functionally no ultimate ability.

It being low DPS doesnt matter. It has absurd burst damage.
He obliterates most mobs in one strike (With crowbars) and any item that procs with it does LUDICROUS DAMAGE because apparently items that say they do: "300% damage on proc" ACTUALLY do "300% modified primary damage per proc" meaning they do 1200% for Mul-T using the Railgun.
He also has a comparatively large healthpool, and a servicable "Oh Shit" button in his carmode.
His other gun is also OK.

Bandit is like an unpolished diamond, because hes a literal unpolished character still under development.
One time when I was using him his M2 had multiple uses instead of one for some reason, it was probably a glitch, but it made him MUCH more deadly and fun to play with.
They abandoned his grenade thing for a sticky flare thing which is his "R" this time around, but its basically trash when I used it, its too slow as a projectile, does nearly no damage, has no sound effects, can barely tell it it landed or not so its pretty much all around unreliable. Its clearly still in development phase.
Everything else is solid although bandit does seem a bit too squishy, still better than commando though.

After playing a few rounds, I'd say the new patch is alright.
What feels shit is that Worm seems a bit too easy now, in other words (((community suggestion))) made it completely worse to fight, the low jumps just means you have less time to shoot it whilst it does nothing. The only time I felt threatened by it is when I stopped moving and let it hit me, Merc still seems to get hit during eviscerate or coming right out of eviscerate which is frustrating.
However the good side is that ice is pretty threatening with stunning you in place, merc can now eviscerate in between dashes and not lose his dash. Artificer feels more powerful now that she procs on almost every hit, maybe now drizzle players will stop crying that she's bad to play as. fat chance. Getting hit by a fire enemy doesn't feel like an instant kill.
Wake of vultures is now "broken" in a good way, instead of fucking you over by taking half your health away, when the electric buff ends you get your health back and keep the shield health as bonus health until you take enough damage to go back under your max health, it's probably unintended though.
All in all a decent patch. Hopefully worm gets rebuffed. I also want commando's roll to have his iframes back. His roll feels pretty irrelevant without it.
