The beginning is pretty boring but when you start to get missions with some plot it's pretty fun to play, where some missions take place makes everything pretty comfy to be honest since the graphics are good

It's unfortunately an average game. Story is frustratingly full of potential yet unexplored, plot twists aren't impactful enough, planes are literally the same planes that are in the past 20+ games, and besides one interesting enemy type which the highlight of the game, (you'll know it when you see it, I won't spoil the game), it's simply forgettable. Even to the people here that love Ace Combat, it's unlikely they could name even one game-defining moment. Resident Evil 2 was the better game to watch.

It was lazy and forgetable enough to make me return it. Every """plot""" twist will leave you wishing the corporate marketing team that wrote it were killed in a violent bus wreck. The music was so-so, and thats the best thing about the whole fiasco.

Belka did nothing wrong, story is predictable with a few twists and nods from the previous games, big nitpicks with the shit and awful localization, but hey, it's Bamco they phone it in for all of their games, impressive autistic eye of detail in a lot of things, kudos to Project Aces. Still fucking waiting on the DLC.

Well designed and fun missions, S ranks are actually hard to get sometimes.

Very dodgy story and characterization, clearly suffered from cuts, game went through significant development hell. The radio chatter is still mostly a welcome presence but some of the dialogue is just…nonsense. I can tell there are serious localization issues and I don't even speak nihon. There were several questions about the localization in the survey bamco put out a few weeks ago. Yeah.

Some of your pals like AWACS Bandog have some amusing lines at least.

Good selection of planes and weapons and it's not a massive pointless grind to unlock the stuff you want.

All in all it's a worthy entry in the series and easily could have been a lot worse than it is. You've no reason to regret pirating it or purchasing it, whatever you decide avoid the season pass.

Boss plot shield for half the mission is a really great concept for Ace Combat.

2nd arsenal bird fight was really the only memorable moment and I didn't enjoy it enough to consider replaying the game

If that part of the story was taken out, how dull do you think that would have made the game? It was good, but it needs to be recognized that such a moment was necessary. Without it, the game would have almost nothing to stand on.

its a solid OK anon. story is all over the place, it has a lot events that lead to nothing, i never felt attached to any of the characters, most of them are downright forgettable. but on the other hand new gameplay mechanics. dive into clouds to avoid missiles careful. dont get zapped now, cobra maneuver, im kinda disappointed that it doesnt have any new original planes though for now

I'm about to start AC5, but I wanted to ask what the opinion on the English dub is.

For AC4 it was very good, surprisingly so, but this one seems a bit lacking.

I just tried the JP voices, honestly, the dub feels better.

Not having to rely on my knowledge of technical JP (as opposed to ordinary conversational) or look at the subs is also nice.

You don't even need to go that fast to get Gadfly. I was able to summon him in an A-10 no problem. Bayonet (F-16) and the fucking strike eagle ace in the refinery bombing mission however are ones you gotta light your ass on fire to catch.

Most of the guides for the aces I looked up didn't even list what time was needed so I was partially being safe about it, but honestly just being able to blast through the canyon at high speeds while weaving through spotlights is fun in itself. The refinery mission ended up being a breeze for me funny enough as I just cruised at a high altitude dropping dispersal bombs mostly, finishing with over 30 seconds to spare.
