Can we take a moment to discuss Microsofts current plan when it comes to gaming on both their console and PC?
At first I thought it was retarded that they are bringing all of their xbox games to PC but after thinking about it I think it's pretty smart.

Between the Xbox, Windows store, Steam now and their cloud streaming thing, they're essentially trying to ensure that you can play their games in nearly any scenario. Hell, a few are even on the Switch, as none of those particularly fit into the portable sphere - a reason I'm predicting MCC for Switch in the future as well.

Their plan makes much more sense when you consider that they don't give a fuck about competing with Sony. They're competing with Apple and Google. They're trying to build a multi-platform ecosystem, another pillar to support the company as PCs become more and more irrelevant to the masses now that Android and iOS has become the dominant operating system for generalized computing devices. To this end, they're trying their damnedest to make all apps in their "ecosystem" available on all platforms - regardless of the hardware's actual capabilities if at all possible, to lower the bar for entry. Xbox will continue to get more and more PC-like features, and PCs will gain the ability to play Xbox games natively (this April, I hear). Game streaming is intended to bring high-end hardware quality experiences to every device, and eventually they'll move the entire Windows operating system to the cloud so that you pay a monthly service fee to stream a computer of whatever spec your payment tier allows - to whatever device you own.
Sony just wants to make game consoles/multimedia machines. There will likely always still be a niche for that, but they really don't have the infrastructure - nor the expertise or capital to build the infrastructure necessary that's capable of competing. If Google and Amazon's gaming initiatives pan out, Microsoft is the only one really poised to counter them. Sony still has a lot of dead weight on their books with their movie, music, and electronics sectors failing. They're, honestly, much more vulnerable and apt to drop out that Microsoft. Nintendo will last as long as their rabid fanbase, and position as a pop culture influence does. If they lose their image and run into a string of failures like the N64/GameCube/WiiU back to back - they may drop out as well, but you'd need a crystal ball to foresee if or when that will happen.

Honestly this is what the original xbox was going to be designed to be. It was going to be a windows running mini computer with no exclusives. I think this makes far more sense and should be how it is. The fact that they are so retarded that they want to close ecosystem the multiplayer for MCC is monumentally retarded, and quite literally the only reason I think they even are considering not letting people host on their own, is that some retarded shit with the multiplayer, slowly but surely, getting worse and worse when Halol: Infinite shootnloot is getting close to release. On one hand, it makes sense to love games to other systems so they can make money. The xbone isn't exactly selling crazy compared to the others and the next gen might easily sell worse. Personally I think Microsoft's renewed focus on PC is more an attempt to hedge themselves against the losses their suffering on console over anything else.
Plus while Sony might be jewing over Japanese developers with censorship and bullshit regulation, it isn't really a big boon for microsoft since the Xbone has sold like complete garbage in Japan and there aren't a whole lot of Americans that have bought Xboxes and who also like weeb games.

Could be as soon as the April 2019 update to Windows 10. On the insider build currently out there, apparently they were giving away State of Decay Year One edition for free to "test" new features. Turns out, someone with Fiddler got to poking around and figured out that the game was being downloaded from the Xbox One servers instead of the Microsoft Store servers. The game itself is in the .xvc format, which is what the Xbox One uses.
And if they can make Xbox One games run natively on Windows 10, then they can make all of their Xbox Original and Xbox 360 backwards compatible games run on Windows 10 as well. So the only question is - are you willing to install Botnet 10 for the sake of Xbox emulators, and does their BC program actually cover any games worth playing that you're interested in? (It does have Ninja Gaiden Black and Panzer Dragoon Orta - so that's at least something.)
