i managed to get a game called gouketsuji ichizoku senzo kyou working (its the latest iteration in power instinct series) but the game is really obscure and i am having a lot of trouble finding any kind of movelist, if someone manage to get his hands on movelist or information please post, i did found their official website but it was dead and i only got an archived page, i did find a command page but it had a flash app which was loading images depending on the character selected but all the images were missing and the most i could find was this, if someone get movilist please tell me.

Samurai Showdown might be the first fighting game I pick up since Street Fighter IV. It’s no Garou, but it still looks nice. I really hope Garou comes back some day. How a fighting game can manage to be so fun, hardcore, yet extremely comfy is beyond me.

MK2 Jax was fucking amazing. He came in looking like a suave muscular dude, and before you knew it, he was tearing arms off and exploding people's heads. a lot of anime fighters are like that too, to some extent unist too, in unist all characters have their on sub mechanic that they have to keep track of like there yuzuhira who have abcd slash thing.

one other game which is a platform fighter called rivals of aether, it also has like sub mechanics that is unique to all characters that is main part of their gameplan, but I haven't played it all that much tho.

the thing that satisfies your description the most is vampire savior, while everyone can airblock but all characters have their own dashes.

In KOF, only '98 The legend of Goro Daimon is that scary but Orochi Yashiro is really good as well and somewhat 98UM if you count EX Blue Mary. Daimon is strong again in 2002UM but in vanilla he pales compared to Athena, Billy, Choi, Angel, Vanessa, May Lee and others. But it's not like you can dismiss them in other regular KOFs.

In SamSho Vspecial Gaira is either low tier or really good but Kurareged with his 50% 0f half screen command gran takes the spot as the top tier one.

I'm pretty sure, Tager had his moments in Blazblue but there were so many iterations and updates that I'm not that sure.

Mortal Kombat 9 had Cyrax even though Kabal and Kung Lao dominated the meta.

And of course, Android #16 in DBFZ is hella strong even since the release and the perfect example of how casuals react to when a grappler is strong in a fighting game. But there are probably more since there are tons of games I'm not familiar with. Wasn't R.Mika top tier in early SFV as well?

I would say Arcana Heart because the mechanics can come from the arcana themselves. Like push guard, super armor, speed boost, slow down, time stop, triple jump, teleporting, regen, HP absorption, poison, mimicry, magnetism, and running all come from different arcana. To be honest I just wish she was a grappler. The game has a serious lack of the archetype. Earthquake might have one but he's a bruiser, not the same thing. I think Genjuro is more scary in that aspect. If Yoshitora was available they should have put Gaira instead. It reminds me of Scarecrow all over again where you have this character who can literally be anything since it's a hallucinogen, and its just a hook on a rope and green smoke. Or Geras, this time manipulating immortal enforcer and most of what he does is punch really hard and throw really hard. Where's the imagination?

I know not a lot of people played Killer Instinct, but at least in that game every character had a few mechanics that made them stand out. This just feels like a checklist character. TBH, we haven't seen many of the gods and such in MK. We've seen Raiden, Fujin, Argus (kinda), and Shinnok as a fallen elder god (implying he's nowhere near full power). She looked promising, but really comes off as fem Tremor with that heavy focus on rocks. I think the blame is mostly on the hysteria over Shueisha trying to claim copyrights on DBFZ tournaments back in January. Even now you still sometimes see people who didn't keep up with the situation talking about how all these DBFZ tournaments are allegedly being cancelled, even though it turned out to be a whole load of nothing aside from getting dropped from AnimEVO.

DBFZ was losing a bit of steam in the previous patch since the meta was getting pretty stale, but reception to the new patch has generally been pretty positive. I know more than a few people didn't tune in to watch it at NorCal Regionals since it was running the previous patch. If someone was going to run pirated versions of fighting games on the same machine/PC where they have legitimate copies for online play will there be any issues? I want to get a copy of SFV with all the DLC unlocked for local play. Don't want to dump more money into a game I rarely play now for characters and costumes. I know this probably sounds retarded but I was worried if save files or something else would overlap and cause issues if I ever did go online again in the future.

Speaking of SFV: is it possible to play the pirated version online with other people that have it or is in offline only? Anyone replicate the CFN network yet? Anyone made any modifications to the same itself to make it less crap? I know SFIV had a good modding community but I know nothing about SFV as I haven't touched it in about two years now.

Extending on the above: If someone took the time to make a standard install/repack for games that ran on PC and could somehow get the online portions of them working like fightcade would any of you guys use them? I've thought about doing repacks for PC fighting games for a couple of years now but I didn't know if anyone would ever download/play them. It'd be nice to have something like fightcade for games that have come out in the last few years that are otherwise dead.

I mainly want to make them for use in a cabinet I'm building for myself but if other people can use them I'd be willing to share. I've noticed that fighting games rarely get updated by people doing repacks. Right now to install SFV's pirated version you have to install the base game then install three or four patches to get it current.

The only cool thing about Geras is the very few times where he can rewind himself either in animation or through his rewind special move. The other 90% of the time, he's just a big guy who throws various sand things. A teleport like all the others, and sand bombs. Like INJ2 Green Lantern's bombs, and now Ceturion's rock bombs. Yeah, I think Geras' finishing moves were the "set -the-tone" fatalities that Ed Boon makes as a sort of "bar" to gauge the other finishing moves for and they aren't meant for anyone specific. SImilarly to Quan Chi's second fatality in MK9 (sword to the legs, chop off the head, hold up head, it was originally Scorpion's for a bit). Geras at least has SOME time things in his moveset, but not nearly enough, and it's sad he doesn't have an actual time stop fatality where he pauses time, does shit to the opponent, walks away, undies time and a bunch of shit happens to them (think of the episode of Red Dwarf with the Time Wand), Or take a page from Eternal Champions Challenge From The Darkside and have him throw a time-bomb at the opponent that ages them into an old person who literally crumbles into dust.

The more I think about it, I'm neutral to SF4 gameplay. I think relying too much on SF2 didn't hurt in as it was relying on nostalgia. It was SF2 based gameplay with some Alpha mechanics and using the 3rd strike control scheme. 3d models were ugly though.

I would got rid of ultra and just gave more levels of super like in alpha & 3. KOF14 did it right by giving the loser more super meter for a possible comeback rather than a "use it this round or lose it" ultra.

MK11 looks to be "meh".

I recently replaced Sanwa OBSF buttons with Gamerfingers to accommodate blue Cherry microswitches. I like them a lot, personally. Embed related is a good video guide.

I wanted my arcade stick to sound and feel like a mechanical keyboard, so I was torn between the blues and browns for their construction (need to push down all the way, compared to Sanwa's default switches, which will trigger with a feather touch).

It's really up to personal preference. I absolutely needed a switch that wouldn't trigger unless I pushed it down all the way, but some people prefer having smoother action (which the silver switches do well) or quieter switches (which I believe the reds also do well; not completely sure since I only examined the blues and browns).

One thing which I dislike about the Gamefinger buttons is that there are some small issues owing to their cheap Taiwanese manufacturing. The buttons themselves are "push in" style - as opposed to the OBSF "lock in" style - so you have the mount, which has the microswitch just sitting in a hole in the bottom, and the pushbutton, which is pushed onto the top X of the microswitch like a piece of Lego. I accidentally installed one the wrong way and destroyed the microswitch because the only way to put them in is to apply way more force than a small piece of plastic/metal can withstand. Getting them out with a screwdriver (which I had to do once I realized the pushbuttons are meant to be oriented north/south, but don't have an interlock to prevent you from orienting them west/east) is equally nerve-wracking because you're literally pushing up on the bottom of the switch instead of prying them out like an OBSF button.

Every Gamerfinger button is built to accommodate a "washer and screw" system for mounting it on the stick, as opposed to the "push and click" system most other buttons use. This means two things:

>if you order a push-and-click button, it may be ever so slightly too small for the hole in the arcade stick, which means you can rotate it with enough force

>if you order washer buttons, they may be too close together for the washers to fit properly

They're good buttons for what I want, but I wouldn't recommend them to everyone due to the high price point and other technical issues.

Only fantasy based fighting game I can think of would be Chaos Breaker/Dark Awake from memory some of it's characters include

It's a game I remember reading through for it's mechanics and there are a lot of things going into it. It's a KoF style fighter where you assemble a team and each member fights in turn, but you have a 4th slot where you choose an item that confers buffs/debuffs/abilities/assists to the team. These items either use meter and/or have a fixed number of uses per round. And I also think it's possible to swap out characters for items too so you can potentially have 1 guy with 3 items.

What I liked about the idea of this game was it being a weapon based fighter with clashing and parrying, and the magic items. Now that I'm thinking about it again, I should get around to emulating it.

I'm not so sure this time around anons. They have already pissed off the competitive fighting scene by limiting variations and it's 4th place at the next fighting tournament, while Tekken and SFV is shitting all over it. It doesn't matter if it appeals to the massive casual normalfag audience when some of the sponsored youtubers that were shilling for the game were getting second thoughts about it (calling out their shitty animations and the lack of quality). If it doesn't look visually appealing to the normalfags, which it doesn't since everything is so drastically gray and shitty looking then it might sell copies on launch but will die quickly. Alot of the normalfags are pissed that Milenna and Rain won't be in the main roster which many fans were begging for NRS to get in the game. The game itself doesn't have alot of casual appeal going for it (Dull colors, forgettable new characters, shit tier return characters like Jacqui Briggs that could have been replaced by better choices, etc.) besides the the franchise name slapped onto it. I have found 3 explanations online, and all are equally nonsensical to me (one says to enter the entire option select during the 2a blockstun which completely fucking nullifies what I understand the point of an OS to be, one is a 4 minute video which just says over and over again, "The timing is hard," and one says, "Do it faster").

I eventually got through it by setting the speed to 30% and entering the OS every time the AI tried to throw, but I'd prefer if I at least understood the concept of how this is supposed to be executed even if I can't actually do it.

I personally think she doesnt fit Mortal Kombat at all, and she has the characteristics of a scrapped Injustice 2 character with that ridiculous space fatality which no other character does in the franchise. First of all, I should tell you the UNIST tutorial will only mark these throw OS challenges as successful if you tech a throw - even if it says "this will allow you to backdash an assault attack" and you backdash an assault attack, it will only count as progress if the dummy attempted to throw you and you teched it.

UNIST allows you a 14-frame window to tech a throw after you're in the throw animation from being hit by the throw (you may notice the small grey circle that radiates from both players when a normal throw succeeds, which signifies this state). There is also some leeway with what counts as "pressing A and D at the same time to throw," and a runoff result of that leeway is that the game can process "pressing A followed shortly by pressing D" as either an A attack or a throw (tech) depending on the state of your character.

Basically, this 7-14 trial expands on previous throw-based OSes. That is, it allows you to get a very good reward (hitting your opponent with a rising j.A if he attempts to circumvent your 2A mash by using an assault) at the cost of giving up some defence (you will be counter-hit if your opponent stops his dash outside of your j.A range and pushes a longer-range button), but without being as defenceless as just doing the up-back j.A by itself (if your opponent tries to throw you, you can still tech the throw, which gives you GRD and plus frames).

This is incorrect. The point of this OS is to pre-empt the opponent's actions, not react to them.

Perfect. UNIST's throw OSs are very similar to the concept of Throw-Reject Misses in BB. In both cases, you're trying to get whichever defensive option favours you, without locking yourself out of teching.

Sort of what you described, but they're not usually done from blockstun. Normally they're done when an attacker is approaching. In GG and BB, which have "enhanced guard" options that can be cancelled out of without lag, you would do it with those options: briefly block low with FD/barrier, release FD/barrier to jump, then start it again in case you're hit by a ground attack. In UNIST, you don't have the luxury of instant shielding (and jumps are instantaneous), so it's a bit different, which is why 7-14 tells you to jump first before teching.

Same as fuzzy guarding, except you mash rather than switch your stance.

I noticed it was odd, too; there were several situations where I teched the throw on the ground just as Hyde ran at me, but it didn't count for whatever reason. I think this is the kind of thing which is harder because your opponent in this case is a computer doing it frame perfectly, rather than a human who simply can't.

If all else fails, sleep on it and try again. If you've played fightans for as long as you have (much longer than me, frankly), it's well within your grasp.

Budget. Fighting games don't sell that much with few exceptions and I think the e-sports trend pushed more focus on core aspects of the fighting to appeal more the viewers. Probably also online aspects that really started on the previous generation of consoles and Steam takes a considerable amounts of the budget of the game even though many times they make an underwhelming result like most delay based netcodes and questionable lobbies or plainly wrong like SFV one-sided rollback implementation. E-sports and online also took away things like "secret characters" since people just want to jump and play online so you mostly have the playable version of the boss to unlock.

Only KOF Maximum Impact 2 that has tons of costumes to unlock and some crazy modes like having to beat a literal Metal Slug. Most SNK games features only specific challenge modes like the UMs and KOFXI, combo training like KOFXIII and XIV and now some kind of Quest Mode from VF4 but using online capabilities to download player data as people play the game using IA. Besides those are the usual Survival and Time Attack. On the other hand, SNK games never had the kind of budget Namco games had in the PS2 era or current NRS banked by WB Games.

If you want to try, Blazblue and Persona Arena games features those kinds of special vs CPU battles like boss versions of regular characters along with quite lenghty story modes but using VN style if you like that kind of stuff. Too bad in current generation it was kind of dropped in Guilty Gear Xrd and BBTAG games. I'm not really sure what DBFZ has to offer but I heard about special CPU battle events like NRS does with their "towers".

Castlevania: Judgement had a game mode where you basically play through a dungeon room by room with each room having enemies and variable conditions like status effects, shortened timers, or specific win conditions. Beat me to it. Was right about Yashamaru using a nagamaki and being Karasu Tengu themed but I'm rather perplexed at the choice of translating "tengu" as "goblin", kinda makes you think they're the bottom bitches of nip mythology when it's quite the opposite.

Anyway, not really feeling this set of newcomers. Not bad per se, just not good SamSho characters (perfect for nuCalibur or even a ASW game), Classic SamSho designs (1 to 4) are colorful and have very stylized figures but the characters themselves are usually very simple, for the most part the costumes are pretty basic and sometimes bordering on accurate. Heck! You could even say the more over the top characters are pretty straightforward, like Kusaregedo being just a plain oversized gaki.

That said, I'll like Yashamaru if his moves are cool. Got a soft spot for crow-themed designs.

I found an executable for the game since it was made for the TaitoX. But it's not playing nice with my wine installation on my linux box and I haven't made the time to try running it through a VM.

If anyone is running windows wants to give it a shot before I get to it, the link for the DL I found is

The first link is the game itself, I can get it to run as far as the attract mode and it closes down. I'm able to access the test menu by pressing F3 and it looks like the game is all there so it's a problem on my end most likely. The second link was a fix for the controller settings but the link is dead.

There's a Shoryuken wiki for the game though that's pretty detailed, at least enough to give me a better idea of what I'm looking at when I watch some tournament footage. The game has two main wrinkles; a clash/parry system and the items. Clashing can be done by either having two weapon based attacks overlap, or by dashing towards/away from any attack that "hits" above the knee. That last statement doesn't mean a mid-attack, it goes by the animation itself so any attack that looks like it hits below the knee cannot be clashed regardless of it's actual hitbox. And this also means you can dash into most projectiles to take no damage and clashing gives you the chance to immediately launch a new attack.

Items are really interesting to me. It reads like a cross between the Arcana system, Advance Wars COs, and MvC Helpers. Items have varying Stock uses that refills at a rate of 1/Round. They have a possession effect which is usually a passive buff to one of four stats (Magic Defense, Physical Defense, Physical Attack Power, Magical Attack Power) that is applied to everyone on your team. And finally an Item Burst activated by spending 1 bar of meter which is usually an attack.

There are 32 Items in versus mode broken into Basic items, special items, and equipped items. There's another set but only accessible through arcade mode. The equipped items are what's really cool to me, 18 in total and each one corresponds to a specific character in the roster representing a signature weapon of theirs. If a signature weapon is on the team and you have their assigned character as well the color of their weapon takes on a unique hue (usually ice blue or Blood Red) to signify they are now holding it. And a signature weapon confers greater benefits to their assigned character than they do anyone else on the team. For example; the Barbarian Curse Head's signature weapon is the Earth Hammer. It usually has the following passive effect

But if Curse head is on the field it now does

>+44% Physical damage

>Curse Head's normals now do chip damage

So in an abstract way, these items can also act as a pseudo TOP system from Garou, where you can have 1 character out of your 3 being far more powerful than normal at any point in your rotation. Much like you can choose where on your life bar to apply the TOP state.

Signature weapons have some other character specific traits like

>some weapons allow normals to do chip damage

>all of the Mage Staffs have the same effect of "gain meter while the arcade stick is in neutral" in addition to a boost to magic power

>1 character who uses ammunition gets extra rounds at the start of the match

>1 character gains a new super if his item is equipped

and so on.

It's the kind of idea that I wouldn't mind stealing if/when I get around to working on my own fighting game. I think that the regular/special items overall have good effects, and the signature weapons are a neat idea that if the game had a bit more effort, they could have included unique sprites for each weapon as well instead of a pallet swap. But it also adds a bit of personality to the roster and characters. Hopefully I get it running on PC, if not it's available on Japanese PSN so there's that option as well.

Make sure you run Play.exe from the bin folder not the game.exe, the Settings.exe allows you to bind whatever but in-game dinput doesn't work and don't press anything until the game no longer says to not press anything, if it says some gay shit about pressing the test key, press it and reset/exit and should work the next time.
